What was the time length...

I got my first 50, an energy/energy blaster, on the weekend before CoV went live. So I started playing in Feb '04 and that toon made 50 in November '04.

As a side note, it was not my first toon nor my first blaster. My first toon was a BS/ Invuln scrapper who did make it to 50 about 2 yrs ago. My first blaster got deleted and I then made the energy/ energy but I still have a screen shot of it.

My first (and currently only 50) is my Brute. Started around Thanksgiving 2005 got him to 40 before Issue 7 while playing on and off. I was around lvl 47 when Issue 10 came out. (I played a Scrapper from 1-39 during Issue 8. Missed Issue 9 completely) I ended up dinging 50 after completing the Riders mission of LGTF. Was a nice surprise since I face planted alot that mission.

I also have a Blaster I rolled on Day 1 (maybe 2) of release. (Non-preorder) I think I stalled out around lvl 18 back then as I recall hovering above Family spawns in Steel Canyon or Prisoners in Brickstown to level as I ran out of contacts. I've played on and off since then and he's parked at 35. Might dust him off for Going Rogue though.

I'm currently working on dual-boxing a Brute and Corr to 50 which I'll hopefully be finished with shortly.

I got my first 50 in about 9 months. I have no idea how many hours that is though. Now, I have 2 more 50s (almost three, I have a PB at 45) with just shy of 24 months played.

For you to get your first 50. I'm asking this out of a somewhat self-pity because a month or two ago I got my 12 month vet award and my highest level toon that I had was a level 21 that I will scrap as soon as i get a toon to the same level. If you plan to ask What my play time/style I usualy only got to play on weekends for about 5 hours at a time. So back to my original question how long did it take you to get your first 50.

[/ QUOTE ]When I got my 18 month vet reward, I had only one character above level 22.

I sat down and worked at it, and got Battlebriar from 1-50 in about four to six months of very casual play with an SG. Then I sat down and solo'd Rose Paladin from 1-50 in about three weeks.

Getting there fast is nothing important. It's enjoying what you're doing that is.

My first character was created in January of 2005, leveled up to level 36 by August of 2005, then I quit playing the game for a couple years. Started playing again with my wife in July of 2008, on a completely different character, and had my first 50 in about October.

On another note, how do you find out how many hours you've played a particular character?

NPCs with names starting with the letter M will tell you the number of hours you've played on your character.

I think I rolled up my SS/INV tanker at launch to about 40 in a month or so then rolled about 3 alts until I hit my Ice/EM blaster and got her to 50 in a month, so took me a little over 2 months to get that "first" 50. I came back to the tank around the time that they nerfed perma-unstopable and didn't come back to him for a lonnnnng time. Probably around issue 3 or 4 I got him to 50.

Slightly over 3 years. No really. Made my first hero right after launch (a blaster), made the incredibly dumb move of only soloing with him (hello perma debt), only had him at level 33 by the time CoV rolled around, made my first villain (dominator), finally got him to 50 right after issue ten hit.

I have, however, REALLY stepped up my game since then. I now have seven level 50's.

My 1st 50 came around March '06 or so; I started in June '05, so let's say about 9 months. 400+ hours of playtime. Soloed BS/Regen.

My 2nd didn't come until Sept '07 (altitis!)...and that was the first character I created back in '05. Largely soloed INV/EM, probably 400+ hours.

Third came in Jan '08. Mind/Kin, teamed a little bit more than the others but mostly solo. He was lvl 41 when the tank hit 50 which explains the smaller gap.

Fourth was June '08, Grav/Storm.

Fifth was Sept '08, Fire/Fire blaster. Probably only 200 hours played (solo). Was the first 50 that wasn't of the batch created in '05. Also was the first on my 2nd account.

Sixth was mid-Dec '08. NRG/Kin, first villain 50. Created maybe a month after CoV came out. Soloed, not sure on hours.

Dilly-dallying on the seventh. I have an Ice/MM that is around 47.5 (was 26 when I hit my last 50). But I've also been playing a MM, a DB scrapper and a Plant/Thorns Dom (well, I have a Shield brute parked too). Without distractions she'd easily have been 50 already.

I played this game from pre-release of CoH and didn't get my first 50 until late in I8. Of course back then, I considered there to be no reason to get to 50, and I essentially avoided it as it implied retirement of my characters.

Now I've got nine of them.

Blue
American Steele: 50 BS/Inv
Nightfall: 50 DDD
Sable Slayer: 50 DM/Rgn
Fortune's Shadow: 50 Dark/Psi
WinterStrike: 47 Ice/Dev
Quantum Well: 43 Inv/EM
Twilit Destiny: 43 MA/DA
Red
Shadowslip: 50 DDC
Final Rest: 50 MA/Rgn
Abyssal Frost: 50 Ice/Dark
Golden Ember: 50 SM/FA

I got em to 50 in descending order in my sig . Prime Minister was the 2nd character I made 2 weeks after launch and he hit 50 July 05. Captain was created a week after him and hit 50 6 months later than Prime. And then XP smoothing hit and half debt in mish and my 3rd 50 only took 6 months total. Most of all that was soloing.

My 50s:
Prime Minister MA/SR Scrap - Protector
Captain Hit-Guy DM/Reg Scrap - Freedom
Prime-Minister ILL/TA Troller - Freedom
Ultimate Minister Inv/SS Tanker - Freedom

I have played CoH since beta. For my first year or so of playing, I rolled a ton of alts and didn't play CoH all that much. I lots of school stuff to do, and much of my gaming time was sucked into playing Warcraft 3 w/my friends, so I didn't get anyone higher than 26. Then, I rolled my kin/rad defender right before Croatoa was released, and he shot up into the 40s over the next couple months. I didn't get an actual 50 until February 07 though, after I rolled a Sonic/Sonic defender and joined up with the Repeat Offenders at the end of the previous summer. Since then, I've gotten 4 more to 50, with another 4 so in the upper 40s, half a dozen 30s, and 662 badges on my archer.

When playing up a new alt, I routinely try and do as many of the TFs as possible while I am in the appropriate level range for them. Between TFs, I get as many interesting temp powers and badges as I can; if I SK up with my friends or run MA arcs very often then I outlevel way too much stuff. This is especially problematic on 20-something heroes, with Sister Psyche, Moonfire, Hess, Citadel, the Safeguards, zone arcs in Striga, Croatoa, and possibly Faultline, and a couple fun old stories inbetween like the Freakolympics.

Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.

Started January 2005. Got to 50 in September 2007. So, 33 months.

I have crazy altitis though. I got my second level 50 literally two days after the first.
