That was... elegiac.
Thank you.
x1000
But did you really have to use Sleeping in the Light for the music. That put me over the edge because then I had the double-whammy of remembering the very end of my favourite TV show ever.
*sniffle* -
I am wholeheartedly behind this idea! In fact I have already written a short intro for a couple of my characters as well as a rant about the pain this is causing me on my blog. Let me know if my stuff is up to the quality you are looking for, you can check it out here...

And just in case, thank you one and all for being the best damn community on the Internet ever! And heartfelt thanks to Cryptic for creating this game and to Paragon Studios for continuing the tradition of excellence! -
Having the exact same problem here. grrrr

Quote:Yeah just like Nick Fury in Iron Man 2. Speaking of which I hope they finally explain how Fury is immortal (I know its explained in the comics, but that leaves me in the dark whether that is the same in the movies).I pondered that too, and decided against Peggy being Tony's mother for the exact same reason.
Howard marrying late-- or more than once-- is entirely plausible. Rich men can often have children quite late in life.
I wonder if they will touch on Steve knowing Tony's dad in the movie.
The dynamic between Cap and IM should be interesting. And I hope Tony gives Steve tips on how to act around women, that will be priceless with RDJ's snappy delivery.
-
I had a crazy thought after watching the movie; what if Agent Carter is Tony Stark's mom? It makes sense story-wise but at the same time Nick Fury said its been 70 years since Cap was frozen. On the other hand that means that Howard Stark and his mystery wife didn't have Tony until they were in their 50s-60s, since Howard was at least in his mid-20s in 1942 *scratches head*. And that assumes that Tony is currently at least 40 years old currently.
ARRRG stupid comic continuity hurt Hulk's brain! -
Bob and Steve are pretty good but my vote is for ...
Unique Dragon

That game was depressing to watch. My team looked totally gassed and the Bruins looked like they could play for another month *sigh*. Ah well, there is always next year I guess.
And as a local resident and father of 3 kids let me just say that the actions of a few should not be used to paint us all as a bunch of idiots and d-bags. There were estimated to be 100,000 people in the downtown core for the game. Out of that about 1% of the crowd got fricking stupid, but that's still 1000. I just try to remind myself that 99,000 other people were downtown to enjoy such a rare moment as game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final on home soil.
What really makes me laugh is that all those idiots and Black Bloc members were caught on camera and smart-phone and video doing all the damage. There are now a number of Facebook pages set up with all those pics asking the public to help ID and catch these losers *crosses fingers*. I would like to use that as a counter-argument to anyone that calls Canucks fans the worst fans in hockey.
And one final thought:
Go Canucks Go! -
My whole SG (The Eh Team of Freedom) stand behind the 'Nucks. We may be the first team in history to win the Cup with a NEGATIVE goal differential in the series LOL.
Go Canucks Go!
Oh, and this man roots for them as well...

Disclaimer: It is 1:45pm here on the west coast so NO this is not an April Fool's joke!
I was taking one of my Praets through the sewers today to get his explore badges when I happened to click on the wrong man-hole (person-hole?). Much to my surprise I was given the Legacy Chain costume! When I immediately clicked again I got a vamp and a pumpkinhead!
Yes it's true. Either as a bonus for the downtime or due to the server reset yesterday, Halloween is back! YESSSS! -
My altitis in detail:
Freedom: 36 heroes (ranging from L12-L50)
Protector: 13 heroes (L20-28) my backup hero server
Infinity: 32 villains (L6-L38)
Guardian: 9 villains (all lowbies) My backup villain server and 4 of them will get moved to Infinity when I can afford the last slots there.
My plan is to eventually construct a level ladder. What is that you may ask? It is having one character at ever level consecutively on a server. I eventually will have a character at every level from 15 to 48 on Freedom (+ my 3 50s), 20 to 32 on Protector and 6-38 on Infinity. Sadly there was a set-back when GR came out because I wanted to create villain ATs heroside and vice versa on Infinity. I also make sure to have each primary on each AT only once per heroside or villainside, which means that no 2 of my characters plays exactly the same.
This is bordering on OCD now.

You forgot Magni and Modi, Thor's sons by Sif. I get em mixed up but one was the God of Strength (he was the only other being able to pick up Mjolnir) and the other was the Patron God of Berserkers.
But my vote for the next pantheon you go through is ..... CTHULHU!
Yeah it's pretty much all villain incarnates and yeah they would all be verifiably insane....and yeah I know we don't have octopus heads coming in the Animal Pack, but I can dream can't I?
PS: And the best part is that its all public domain like all other religions! (There is a few jokes in there but I fear the flamewar I may start).
Edited: to add a PS. -
On Monday I got my only truly intentionally gimped character to L36. It's been a slow slog but he's still trundling along.
His build you ask? Pool all the way baby!
I took an MA/SR scrapper with Storm Kick, Cobra Strike, FF and FS until 6th level. After that I took only pool powers (I started this before Inherent Fitness). When IF started I dusted him off and vetspecced him.
His pools now are: Leaping, Fighting, Superspeed, and Leadership. His attack chain is now - Cobra Strike, Storm Kick, Vet SMaul (usually enough for minions), Kick, Jump Kick, Punch, Flurry (ok I don't actually use Flurry because I don't like NPCs laughing at me). He has a grand total of 10 toggles (not counting travel) but I rarely run more than FS, FF, Assault, Acrobatics, CJ, and occassionally the hit buff toggle from Leadership (cant remember the name right now).
The crowning moment of irony is that he will be taking Vengeance at L38, a highly situational power....just like most scrapper secondary Tier 9s (though of course this one is weaksauce in comparison).
PS: I never intentionally inflict this character on PUGs but have teamed with friends on occasion so they could see this goof in action.

I'm thinking they may have run the program recently because of these names I got in the week after GR was released. All of these are on Freedom:
Lightax (yeah I know, but it looks cooler without the E)
Marshal Electron
Furious Judgement (hmmm coulda sworn that's how you spell judgement, not judgment, guess it must be American)
Professor Unusual
Admiral Gold Helmet
Grand Master Chin
Whispering Viper
Crystal Orchid
Gravity Mantis
Master of Focus
Logical Conclusion -
My funny names have expanded now that I bought a bunch of slots:
Captain Hit-Guy (he's very good at what he does, guess what that is!)
Hurricane Bob
Hurricane Steve (Bob's evil twin)
Cretinous Mass (a very dumb stone/stone brute)
The Zombie With No Name (Dual Pistols corrupter)
Professor Unusual (Bots MM)
Al Ian Bean (the Alien Being! *wacky hijinks ensue*)
The Uncertainty (not a funny name but in keeping with the OT he has a funny bio: "Radcliffe Weaselmonkey only remembers two things; his name and the fact that he is...A HERO!" combined with his build: A scrapper that I have run to L30 while only taking pool powers from L6.)
and my favourite:
Beefy McShootface (Dual Pistol blaster of course) -
*Deleted because the forums choked on my first post*

Ah the joys on no travel power. My Ill/TA has only sprint + swift + hurdle + CJ + Superior Invis. The most fun I ever had was hunting for the Lost defeat badge in Terra Volta. It was quite an adventure getting back out of that damnable trench where they hide out but it was pretty darn cool getting there.
Another bonus besides the geometry is the NPC dialogue, with my invis up I can get nice and close and listen in on some of the priceless comments. You could almost make a drinking game out of it... take a shot every time you read a movie quote. WARNING: unless you want to die of alcohol poisoning don't do this around the Sky Raiders in Terra Volta.
-
My fave would have to be my Ill/TA. I built him differently from Local_Man, I took Flash Arrow and skipped Glue Arrow (recharge was too long for my tastes). I also chose to take Superior Invis and skip a travel power since I can stealth anywhere
. I got all 4 Fitness pool powers and never have an issue with END unless I am on a team and firing my AoE debuff arrows constantly. Speaking of which, I soloed about 90% of the time on the way to 50 with him, so I would have to say its a very solo-friendly build
. Spectral Terror also works wonders in tandem with the debuffs since it locks em down until they start taking damage. It's pretty cool how the Psychic APP damage stacks with my troller holds.
My 2nd fave would have to be a my Arch/Fire blaster, Deadly Bowman (proud to say I got that name on Freedom), sadly he is languishing at L24 due to my severe altitis infection.

A couple true stories from the last 2 weeks:
Was in the KR Wents on Freedom with a L18 scrap doing some minor transactions. Next thing I know I see "Enhancement Gift" pop up. I think to myself, "Cool, I guess they really liked my costume."
Seems they had dropped a L30 rare IO on me, when I finally figured out who it was and sent them a thank you /tell they were nonplussed. Seems it was meant to be passed from her to her hubby and I happen to be in the way lol. So I zipped back there and dropped it on him instead. He thanked me profusely and then a trade window opens up and he drops 50 Million inf on me! If it wasn't for Wents and massive inf my good deed would never have happened or garnered such a massive reward.
2nd story; I was doing some random arc mish with my L22 troller when I got an orange recipe drop. I made my way to Wents and found out it was +Regen IO. Sadly, I could only post it for 500K but since its in such high demand I ended up with 30 million inf! And once again, if it wasn't for Wents this toon wouldn't have ended up with anywhere near that.
So in conclusion, let me just remind you that the devs have stated time and again that the game was not changed to take into account the difference between IOs and SOs. Wents and IOs are a bonus, you simply don't need IOs to be effective but it sure is nice to be rolling in dough because other people want them.

Easy names I found on Freedom...
A month ago for my elec/elec scrapper - Electron Marshal (he is an interstellar lawman that has crash landed on Earth)
Two weeks ago for my rad/nrg blaster - Ms. Fusion (and to be honest I never thought to try Ms Fusion)
Those are pretty darn obvious names but I have to admit they weren't my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th choices but they definitely work for me. -
Yay! I get to be contrarian (weird, I thought that was a word but the spell checker doesn't think so).
My best friend of 20+ years met his wife through CoH. She even moved from Nevada to BC to be with him. And one month ago she gave birth to their 1st child. The only downside is that neither of them have any time for CoH anymore
. Oh well, at least its for a damn good reason lol.

To add to the irony the mountains are getting snow now...now, not 2 weeks ago*facepalm*.
-
In the last few days I have read a couple threads about how polite, helpful and accepting of new players the CoX community is. I have also read very civil debates over rather hot button topics such as farming and Dual Pistol efficacy. I also had a very nice reception when I returned from that vile superhero MMO that shall not be named.
Add all that to the incredibly good behaviour of the masses of people here for the Winter Olympics and I would swear that Paragon City is here in Canada since you're all so damn polite.
I wonder if there is a way to give honorary Canadian citizenship to the heroes of Paragon City (not sure what we would do about the villains though....make them citizens of Toronto I guess *rimshot*). -
And then there is my Scottish resistance fighter, Beefy McShootface, that came to the realization that Scotland become part of England centuries ago and in disillusionment came to Paragon City to shoot villains in the face instead. He wears a formal kilt, bowler, leather vest and elegant tie, granny glasses and those runners that have the long socks.

There is this pizza place called Olympia Pizza downtown that uses 5 rings as its logo. The IOC and VANOC tried to sue them but it was thrown out of court when it was shown that the company had been in business for 15 YEARS before we even bid for the Games!
So yeah they would cause problems that would make the Marvel suit seem like child's play lol.
