Well since this is an event the world over is involved in. I am wondering why the Winter Event is not on right now in honor of the Winter Olympics as well as the Valentine's Event?

I was totally thinking the same thing watching the downhill skiing events & the luge run. Was itchin to get back on the slopes. Go USA!

I live in Richmond where the Skating Oval sits and I would love to do some skiing on the slopes too! Sadly, the IOC is rabid about their branding and IP, so if they started the Winter Event up again they would probably be sued blind .

Well this is the IOC; if they could find a way to sue they would in some sort of way.

There are strict on anything from the names of places or nick names on mask to the events themselves.

Washington State has a mountain range called the Olympic Mountains. So at least a few times I've seen a story about the IOC suing some tiny little company or another because they have the word Olympic in the name of their business. It's actually pretty funny, unless you are one of those businesses of course.

i guess people really will sue over nothing. gotta love this wonderful world we live in. lemme guess, next they're gonna try to sue mother nature for having a season with the name winter?

There is this pizza place called Olympia Pizza downtown that uses 5 rings as its logo. The IOC and VANOC tried to sue them but it was thrown out of court when it was shown that the company had been in business for 15 YEARS before we even bid for the Games!

So yeah they would cause problems that would make the Marvel suit seem like child's play lol.

Practically speaking, I believe we've been told before that they can't have two events running at the same time, so having the Winter event and the Valentines event both on at once simply isn't possible.

People will sue over anything. Literally; anything. It's...really rather sad, and somewhat pathetic, and speaks volumes about the current human condition.

Silly fleshlings...

I dunno...sometimes it is warranted, but I agree most of the time, it isn't. I like the fact that some courts require you to pay the legal fees of the defendant if you try to sue them and lose, but I don't think that goes far enough. You've already disrupted their business, their reputations, and their lives by dragging them through a lengthy legal dispute. Even if the person you sue and lose, you still win to an extent--the damage is already largely done, in my opinion.

True dat.
This whole culture of sueing at the drop of a hat (And, for once, that could actually be used literally, scarily enough.) had gone way too far. Sadly, I don't see any way of curbing it, short of actually, I dunno, doing something like jailing the people who tried to sue for wasted court time, in the more daft cases.
