New "Targeted AoE" Invention Sets

Not counting purple / ultra rare sets, just normal invention sets, there are three Targeted AoE sets (for ranged AoEs, not PBAoEs). There are FIVE snipe sets, for crying out loud. There are TEN melee damage and ten ranged damage sets -- which is appropriate, since those have to be the most common power groupings (offensively speaking, anyway). There are 5 PBAoE sets now, because they recently added Eradication and Obliteration -- which has been very helpful in frankenslotting as well as giving us new set bonuses.

But there are a lot of ranged AoEs in the game -- players like them -- and yet only 3 IO sets, not counting the purple.

Next time the Devs are inclined to throw us some new IO sets, I nominate this category for a couple. I think it's time.

Yup, I agree.

Actually I've been thinking they should just do away with the other enhancements entirely and concentrate on filling out as many ranges of as many different powersets as possible with IO's. They're way more fun...

Either that, or merge the ranged attack IO sets with the ranged AoE attack IO sets.

They did something similar back in i4, when they merged cone range enh with regular range enh.

(Yes, back in the old days if your attack was a cone and you wanted to enhance your range, you had to buy a different enhancement than the one for regular range.)

No, you just stumbled upon a decent suggestion. I know, I know. They're rare and elusive. Don't scare this one away!

However, I also agree with the OP's suggestion and desire for more Targeted AoE Recipes.

This would be great, I can't think of a better candidate for new IO sets. Doesn't help that the three we do have are pretty lack-luster as far as bonuses go, if I'm remembering right.

Lackluster? Positron's Blast has accuracy, recharge and recovery bonuses, along with a damage proc. Admittedly that is the only one set out of the 3 non-purple/non-PvP sets that has decent bonuses.

Positron's IS Great, but it's the only one that is (okay, excluding Purple & PVP). I used to 5-slot Detonation for it's Range and smidgen of AoE def (until it broke with i15). And Air Burst? Are you kidding? Its picture is in the dictionary under "Lackluster".

There needs to be more sets, and hopefully with some more recharge.

I'd like to see a regeneration bonus in any of these targeted AoE sets, or a debuff resistance bonus to defense, recharge, or regeneration.
