2008 Halloween Event Has Begun!

As a special thank you to all City of Heroes and City of Villains players we've begun this year's Halloween Event early! We've had such a great weekend at Hero-Con with the players that came out to our event and wanted to give something back to everyone else playing online! Now through November 2nd, enjoy the 2008 Halloween Event!

This year's event has a new twist with a group of unwanted guests looking to spoil the trick or treating, Zombies!

Zombies

These homely fellows seem to be literally rising from the ground beneath us and attacking heroes, villains and citizens without discrimination. Their taste in fashion is despicable, not to mention the flies and the smell! Be sure to have the zone event channel added to one of your chat tabs in-game to see the event notifications and take part in all the fun!

Badges, Temporary Costumes and Other Rewards

But know this! With new challenges come new rewards! All of last year's trick or treating goodies are back this year. Heroes and Villains can collect Classical Costumes (and wear them) for Trick or Treating throughout the city. Badges will be available for those who collect the most Classical Costumes. It's almost enough to make heroes and villains set their differences aside. Almost.

Old Enemies Return

Ravenwing Cabal's Annah will be in Croatoa to explain more about some of the activities, as will Granny Beldam in Nerva Archipelago.

The fun begins today, October 18th, and continues through Sunday, November 2nd at 11:59pm EST.

Okay, that was the best event launch EVER!

The skies just turned red, eerie music played, and next thing I know, zombies are climbing out of the ground!

Fantastic!

This was great! For once I didn't see it coming. I didn't read anything about it and was just playing as usual and all of a sudden zombies come up from under me!

I loved the surpise!

Agreed!

I was in FF just hanging out when it happened and I started laughing, my boyfriend across the room was like "What are you... OMG ZOMBIES" as he got ambushed in St. Martial loading out of a mission.

All the people hate the Hero Con were surprised too...

Especially, since most of us aren't anywhere near home.

Sometimes, I impress my boss. Sometimes, I impress myself. The rest of the time, I scare people. I can live with that.

That was fun I had not read the forums so I wasn't expecting it this early. Our team hastened through our mission to get outside and check this out.

Was quite the surprise hehe.

That was just awesome. I didn't have the zone channel on my tab... hear my friends going "Already??" "isn't this early?" "ZOMBIES!" and then zombies started appearing around me.... best... launch... EVER!

Is the dropping of Tier 1's from Treats intentional or a bug?

Awesome!

Doom/Batman in 2012

The Resistance has boobs too, and better hair!

I was in croatoa when it happened. Best Ambiance ever for a suprise zombie attack.

Then I get a hecatomb from a trick or treat mob later... my Halloween event was made on the first night! Woot!

This is very disappointing; I've been waiting for weeks to refill my coffers with Tier 3 inspirations from the event. Sadly, without those for an incentive, I think I'm already done with the event. I have all the previous badges, the new ones took me about 7 minutes to get, and I have no interest in the costume change temp powers. Less than an hour into it, and I'm already over the event.

I had heard that if you got a treat with a rock, costume, or salvage, you got a tier 1 insp, otherwise it would be the tier 3. Is that what you are running into?

Pardon my ignorance, but how does one participate in trick or treating? My recollection of last year is hazy, but I thought it simply involved clicking on doors and getting either a trick (mob spawns) or a treat (akin to an inspiration). All of my door clicking endeavors have been met with "you cannot enter."

I've gotten about 95% Tier-1 inspirations with a few piddly Tier-2 inspirations tossed in, regardless of whatever other treats I may or may not have received.

I've gotten Treats that are just Inspirations, and they're Tier 1. I'm a bit annoyed, I was planning on hording a bunch of Tier 3s in my one-player Super Group base and selling them at Wentworth's on my lowbies in a few months. Great way to give a new character a cash boost. Oh well, the costume Salvage will still sell very well come summer. Does anyone know whether the Zombie attacks happen on a schedule, like Rikti Invasions, or are they random?

BackAlleyBrawler: I can't facepalm this post hard enough.
