All joking aside - it was said elsewhere that Power Balancing changes wouldn't affect PvE at all.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think either what you read was incorrect or you misunderstood. I'm quite certain the PVE specific changes that were made for I13 will affect PVE, while 95% of the PVP changes have no effect on PVE (I say 95% to hedge my bets, actually.)

I am becoming psychic. Although I did not expect widespread changes to APP/PPPs. You're dumping the PPP pets aren't you?

Hurry up with that "soon to be coming" info, will ya?!!?!?!?!?!

Be well, people of CoH.

IF they reduced the recharge time of the pet so he was easier to perma I can get behind that change. >_>

Same for us and our patron pets. Be really pissed if we lose them.

I appear to be out of the loop on PPP pets. I thought everyone liked them (as a power, if not in theme). It seemed to me like most of the level 50 villains I've played with have them.

Please try my custom mission arcs!
Legacy of a Rogue (ID 459586, Entry for Dr. Aeon's Third Challenge)

Ya know, you're probably right. The only high level villains I've got are all brutes. For them, I've found the PPP pets to be a waste of a power slot.

95% hedges on your bets?!? Next thing you know Castle will be illiquid and sold by the Fed to Bank of America, Oh Noes!

Seriously though, FA and PB on villains only balances things out. PPPs have nothing close in utility currently. I'm not pro-villians either my hero:villians 50s ratio is 23:1.

Infinity and Victory mostly

lolz PvP anymore, Market PvP for fun and profit

Methinks Doms and Corrs like them (because they actually do something sometimes). I haven't met a Brute or Stalker in ages who had one.

[/ QUOTE ]

This will be nice, I'll probably lose a power I like because it didn't win a popularity contest.

[/ QUOTE ]

Which power?

[/ QUOTE ]

If I had a list of what was being switched, I could tell you for certain, but going by what I read on the boards, my brute will lose her pet. I could be wrong and will be glad if I am, but given the way everyone here creams for focused accuracy and power build up (2 powers I don't use) I'm gonna go ahead and assume the worst.

Did you replace all the powers with phase? That's what you did, isn't it?

Or was it confuse? Did you replace all the powers with confuse?

Or was it bugged powers? Did you replace all the non-bugged powers with the bugged powers? I bet that's what it was.

Well, just so you fixed the hvy and AV ai in rv. So that hvys wont get stuck on the stairs. And AVs will actually take the pillboxes. And the game goals have a greater reward than the farming goals. That would be an improvement without even giving everybody what everybody was taking in order to farm and phase and lol.

Cool.

I don't think he meant that they would actually be removing powers, but instead placing the biggest changes on the powers that are taken the least...

Off the top of my head, Group Fly, Team Teleport, most of the Presence Pool and all forms of Repel are going to be neigh unrecognizable by the end of this.

I've always said I'll take a Patron when one of them offers my Mastermind PBU...

To clarify, The "elsewhere" I mentioned was the "City of Heroes: Issue 13 Changes Interview" @MMORPG.com And it was Positron no you Castle... In the 3rd question/answer:

[ QUOTE ]
MMORPG.com:
You mention the PvE and PvP Power Rebalancing. I’m curious as to whether this means that players will have to get used to different rules for specific powers depending on whether I’m in PvE or PvP?

Matt Miller:
Our powers team is only rebalancing the most “over-powered” powers and these balance changes only take effect in PvP enabled zones. These changes will not affect the PvE gameplay experience in any way.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah - that part I've highlighted in yellow there above M'kay.
Now, maybe this was an oversight on Posi's part... IDK?
I just wanted to point this out because, well 'cause I don't like to be mistaken.

To be fair:
Maybe MMORPG misquoted Positron slightly or he misspoke - not expecting said interview to be gone through with a fine tooth comb - what am I saying he knows darn well that when we get snippets of info - after an "info-drought" & much "thirsty-ness" (aka impatience for info/release of a new issue),

And this kinda thing WILL happen from time to time *shrug* - no matter how careful people are - there's no Edit or Preview Post in an interview!

As far as betting on which powers get changed - I'm gonna put some virtual Inf on The Concealment Pool - and granted, it's not a APP or PPP...

But, given the nifty Stealth IO's with no "self -speed penalty" and the change/nerf that made me Respec out of Phase Shift many moons ago, and Invis's "affect self only" versus a suppression or "breaking out of stealth" effect - which I also respec'd out oo - iirc I had it one slotted - although the multi-build thing might get me to reconsider this - but the expense of a 2nd build might dissuade me from doing so?

And does anyone still take Grant Invis? I think a few people still take it on teams to stealth each other with no speed penalty - but I'm not certain.
I normally solo so I couldn't say - I see some people have it in their info/powers list every now and then, but IDK if they really use it or not? But I do think a fair number of the people that still take this pool use this use it for PvP (the last changes to it were made due to PvP IIRC - and are AFIAK why it "sucks" so badly ATM) or they one slot Stealth for the spot to slot a Defense-based Set IO (like the Karma KB Prot. IO) - although I do still have stealth 3-slotted w/ Karma on my oldest Blaster just 'cause... I'm reluctant to change it.

*looks at watch* What am I still doing here? There's Rikti in the city! *poof*

Changes to the PPPs? Does anyone take "fish-boy" Maco's PPP? He's like a savage version of Aquaman; scary, but ultimately useless. Unless we get an underwater zone, I see this entire set going bye bye.

I have a Grav/Kin Controller who took it to go along with his concept, and it works very well for teaming. Invis everybody except maybe the tank, who grabs everyone's attention while they get pummeled by invisible death from all around.

To be fair, though, it was a thematic choice. The character's background is that he was accidentally fused with an artificial black hole, which is how he's able to control gravity, steal his enemies' power and grant it to his teammates, and refract the light from his teammates to make them invisible.

Also, to whomever posted they've never seen a Stalker with a PPP pet recently, Evil Gulzow-Man happens to lub his Night Widow. (She's just not terribly fond of him in return.)

My ex-girlfriend liked Mako a lot. And it fit pretty well for her main villain, who was a 14 year old school girl who began a life of villainy (or at least criminal insanity) after killing the man who tortured, blinded, and molested her... 9_9;;

What I'd like some clarity on is a statement by Castle where he says the powers will be just like they were in PVE, and in PVP enabled zones they will have a nerfed performance.

My question is if a given power that only buffs me gets a PVP nerf, does that mean when I go to a PVP Zone for PVE reasons (Shivans, Nukes, RV prestige hunting) that my powers are similarly nerfed?

This might be a serious issue with some folks who love their APPs.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd love to make such a statement for you, but it'd be a lie. The changes for APPs/PPPs are more widespread.

The basic tack we took was "if the power is not being taken by the players, replace it with something that is." So, a number of formerly heroside only powers are now available on villainside, and a number of powers have been replaced by something we feel will be more useful in general.

I'll be very interested in seeing the reactions to the new lists in Beta.

As for the PVP zones, yes, doing PVE content there will be harder.

[/ QUOTE ]

Castle i was wondering so does that mean you are looking to change pve missions. say for instance in warburg if you on a team and you grab a science person as of now only you can get the code after you drop him/her off.

instead make it a team win so the team only has too get three codes?

sincerly yours:

I'm really anxious to see what powers are going to be changed. I have to say, I think Issue 13 looks incredible because I personally care a lot more about costume pieces, power additions, and power consideration/balancing way higher on my "coh additions that will = fun" list.

Agreed, but Arcanaville's long quest to nerf FA might have born fruit with this Issue. Which wouldn't be a bad thing. If the power's to-hit buff were cut in half, but the power cost were cut by that much or more, that would not be a bad thing. If it's nerfed, but no power cost reduction, I'll be an unhappy Geko.
