You guys are grossly exaggerating.
I have a 50+3 Blaster, fully IO'ed out with purple and other great +damage/hp recipes. In Incarnate trials I've learned the hard way that popping my barrier incarnate and ion will wipe one groups minions and lts, but it won't save me from the 2 or 3 bosses left alive who can wipe my face if I don't get lucky dodges in seconds.
I do more DPS than a tank, and I can't take hits from an elite without barrier + inspirations chugged - and even then it's a very situational and temporary matter.
Watch - get a bunch of blasters together in an incarnate trial and ask them to start taking on groups without juggling their barriers so one is always up. They'll eat it quick. Like I said - you guys are exaggerating based on some buffed up trials.
Edit: Oh, and by the way: the design philosophy around city of heroes that says good teamwork negates the necessity for a specific AT in MOST average situations (ie non endgame) is great and has *always* been with the game. -
I'd like giant/beefy gauntlets with the two-handed Titan Powerset, but because it wouldn't exactly be a two handed weapon it would require alternate animations and of course totally won't happen.
Would be very cool though.

maybe someday! I soooo fell in love with the staff Melee concept when playing Aion and I'd love for that to reach this game (which is way better than aion!)

At PAX East 2010 this powerset was mentioned as being on their internal whiteboard - potentially becoming an added powerset (source: http://www.newsarama.com/games/city-...ax-100327.html - there was a video too, I can't find it...)
I'm just sort of returning (from a 3 issue break more or less - which is actually a lot of time) and I was wondering if there was any insight on this? :I When AION launched almost 2 years ago now I know Castle played it and I used to message him talking about how awesome the Chanter staff animations were and he always said he'd love to see a staff heroset.Thanks for any input!
P.S. as I mentioned being a returning hero/villain, I have to say the Incarnate content is way fun! I'm enjoying it. Crafted my first tier 4 today > -

Or, just keep doing alignment missions and earn the A-merits. Does it take work? Yes. Is it doable? Yes. 30-35 merits each, never have to step foot into a PVP zone. And absolutely guaranteed that you will get one after earning (and/or buying) that many merits.
This is about suggesting that the current mechanic is definitely not the ideal, in my opinion. A much better way of how people get flagged for the roll can be created (both inside and outside of teaming) and the drop values adjusted.
The message here is that RNG and preferential PvP should not be as major a component of the reward system as it is now (it should be there, but not so one-sided as it is now). Focusing on telling me how to PvP and saying the current system is manageable is totally irrelevant to what I'm suggesting. I'm suggesting change. I think it will very much improve incentive, enjoyability, functionality, and balance to the PvP system.
All opinions matter - but I don't know many people who find the current system "ideal." -

It is a "bad" design mechanic simply because there are better and more balanced criteria (especially considering utility characters) that can be used to flag a person as "rolling" on the chance for a PvP IO drop. -
Change them please. Two things:
1. Requiring your character to get the kill doesn't feel like an appropriate way to earn an achievement if you PvP on a utility character.
2. And 500 million-2 billion per recipe? Drop rate is insanely low; keep reading: I get the value of rarity, I do. But earning PvP "perks" like these should not be about rarity - it should be about earning or working to achieve them. Right now its all Random Number Generator luck. Some people get seriously shafted.
Main message: RNG and "kill required" is a horrible, grindy, and unfun way to encourage and reward people who enjoy the PvP element to this game.

Could someone help me.. I have the newest version of Mids and when I replace the data folder with the contents in this zip it's fine but when I run Mids I get the following:
"There was an error reading the database. Attempt to download replacement?"
--If you click No nothing happens, nothing loads.
--If you click Yes. It starts loading but a new error emerges
"Enhancement Database file isn't how it should be (Too many bytes in what should have been a 7 bit encoded Int32.)
No Enhancements have been loaded."
-I click OK. Then a new error:
"Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
--I click Continue and a horribly ugly interface pops up that is broken beyond description. Pwease help
Edit: Also I don't know if it's an issue but I do have Windows Vista (gag). -

It's what she said. She referred to people being born in Praetoria as going back anytime, but Heroes from Atlas and Villains from Rogues having access to the content via Flashback. It was pretty clear.
She could have meant that for Heroes and Villains ABOVE level 20, but that's what she said. I changed the word "only" but she implied Flashback was THE option. -

so far the new info:
-Praetoria's streets are lined with Gold, because Emporer Cole's color is Gold. :*D lol
-every aspect of Praetoria is built with the new engine in mind, small features (like mailboxes) to large features.
-you can go back to Praetoria after you leave (if you were born there), and heroes and villains who weren't born there can get there through flashback (for the 1-20 content)

Well you know...except the fact that the devs hate heroes(wait...what?)
I can think of a good reason why it should last longer; base damage from both tanks and scrapper ATs is higher, just like how the range damage AT (blaster) of a hero AT has the highest compared to the villain equivalents (corruptor, dominator).
Maybe they should think along these lines: if it takes brutes longer to work up damage, maybe these buffs should last longer.
I hate the balance of factions in this game, maybe lower base damage (which in my opinion is much more important than damage cap, especially when the damage caps are CLOSE) is a good argument all by itself for longer buff durations. Ever think of that?
I'm bitter. It feels like I'm playing Aion sometimes when it's hero faction vs. villain faction, absolutely no balance. -
If they let the Koreans do the animations and engines and let the westerners worry about the content and lore, I'd be very happy.
:x Sorry.. I just think they are lightyears ahead of the game in terms of graphics and style compared to clunky western games. AoC and CO were two big relatively recent western launches that look horrible. And look at some new ones coming out.. Guild Wars 2 and Secret Planet??? Hideousness compared to TERA Online and Blade and Soul. *sigh* -

Hola returning from Aion (lols?), I want to respec my blaster for zone fun (I do mostly zone pvp on villainside as is). Looking for consensus on what's better for the following (keep in mind, zone pvp):
1. Snipe - keep for set bonuses or drop?
2. Epics - Cold for snowstorm, FA and hiber or force for PB+PFF, temp invuln, FoN?
3. How are aim/bu slotted these days?
4. /EM - just get power thrust and BU (and PB if force epic)? I have a full set of melee purples, so is it worth picking up total focus just for those bonuses?

Used to have ATT DSL and had no problems, I moved and now I have Comcast Cable (which is a much better connection) and all I get is rubberbanding. I might have to switch to a west coast server but if that's the case I'll just stop playing, what's the point.
Location: Roseville, California (near Sacramento)
I.S. Provider: Comcast
Server(s) Used: Triumph and Freedom
Problems: Constant ping around 200 but packet losses constantly increasing, delayed power activation, power icon shows as recharged when not or as being active when not (esp. clicks), enemies slide or "poof," teammates will appear to rubberband, etc.
edit: did a trace route to the east coast servers IP and it's timing out after pccwbtn.net router and it's the same hop that AION (another NCSoft game) is having problems with. Any way to fix?

I mean, scrappers don't get a rage meter... and rage meters are a good thing to have.
I think if you think of Power Surge as being a good power to have, it's sort of wasted on a Scrapper but not as a Brute. -

I think this solution sucks, regardless of whether I get my handle back or not. In the end someone will feel cheated. Just voicing that opinion. When this is posted isn't it 9 hours or more ahead in Europe? Like I have access to the boards here at 1:48 PM at my job, but it's 10 PM or later over there.. doubt they're on the forums.
