So with the release of Elec/Elec...

What is everyone making? Im somewhat excited, and sad at the same time.
I LOVE my baby claws sitting at 37, and when elec/ is released, i want to play that as well.
You guys think elec will be worthy of stealing my heart from my claws/inv?

Also, ive been looking at the brute version lately, and it seems like a claws/elec, may be a pretty decent combination. Thoughts?

I've got names staked out for a Spines/Elec scrapper and an Elec/Elec tank so far.

i16 just can't get here fast enough!

Hopefully, my love for claws can continue!

Well, from my Claws/SR experience, Claws is a fast recharging & low end cost set with good single target and good aoe damage. It really blossomed into a great set with the last pass of tweaks the devs made to it. I find now that Claws has become the melee set that I compare all others to. Boy oh boy do I miss having Focus when I'm on my Kat scrapper. Damn those pesky runners!

From what I've read, Electric Melee is an aoe set that is light on the single target damage so it will probably be a little less advantageous soloing AVs, etc., but will mow through groups of LTs and Minions with the new mission settings coming with i16. I'm also seriously mulling over how Electric Melee/SR will play.

With Power Sink in Electric Armor, end won't be an issue, though I've never found it an issue with Claws anyway. The change of Conserve Power to Energize gives Elec Armor a nice heal/regen/recovery clickable, which can't be a bad thing for a resist set.

I know that Brutes have long disliked having to take the Medicine Pool for Aid Self, since Electric Armor has lacked any self healing, and it will be interesting to see if Energize patches that hole in the set enough to leave Medicine off.

All in all, I think Electric Armor and Electric Melee will be very popular.

This is all in my opinion so you know...

Electric Melee...it's a nice AOE set that lacks in the Single Target department. I say only nice for AOE, because it's real AOE attack is on a LONG recharge. But it does LOTS of damage when you do get to use it.

Thunderstrike is more like a heavy hitting single target attack with a little AOE damage thrown in (why it doesn't get to use regular melee IO sets, I don't know...as the added AOE is nothing more than a perk. Not a AOE in the since of Whirling Sword, that all targets get the same amount of damage done to them)

JL is a cone, not to hard to get at least 2 in the attack, imo. If not more.

Chain Induction is much like TS. Single Target attack with a form of AOE added into it. If it went back and forth like it did before, might not be to bad, but it won't jump back and forth between two targets anymore.

Do I love Electric Melee? YES! But I love flashy sets, so I'm GLAD the devs ported this set. It gives the elemental damage I've been wanting, without being tied to darkness or giving me elemental blades.

Electric Armor. Well, on my Brute, I wouldn't call it a tanker's choice. Not without serious IO set investment, and power pool picks.

The Heal for it will be nice for sure. As Aid Self was easily interrupted. Now we'll be getting a heal (if it goes through on test) that won't suffer from being interrupted.

What this will do imo, is free up the two powers from the Medicine Pool, so Electric Armor whatevers, can pick one other power to help shore up the defenses.

IMO, you don't really need KB resist IOs. Grounded will cover you enough. At least in PvE. While I do PvP, I have never PvPed with my Electric Armor (so it might very well be useful there).

I think you'll still want Tough/Weave on Electic Armor, and to try for some Defense set bonuses for Electric Armor.

This is all just going on theory from my playing an Electric/Electric Brute from lvl 1-50 on live.

I see the heal as being useful, and will help in the survival I'm sure, I just don't think it'll be as much as I would hope. :/ And therefore still see the need to IO out ELA whatevers towards survival.

Oh, and yes, Power Sink helps with survival. But it doesn't drain everything the first round. :/ Electric Melee helps with the draining, which helps with the survival, if you can stand long enough to hit the spawn twice with the PS.

Just judging from what ive seen, more than likely, my choices will be elec/sr or kat/elec.
Id love to make a claws/elec, but i dont see it being survivable enough for me.

Personally, elec armor will be paired with one of the sword sets, mainly because of the added defense, unfortunatly, that leaves my beloved claws out

I will be making an elm/regen scrapper and a DB/ela scrapper. Both will be leveled the old fashion way since they both have sets that are still rather new to me.

My elm/nin stalker is still lvl 12 and I deleted my axe/ela brute before it even got power sync. (Too many nightmares with alpha taking attempts.) I hope with energized, my experience be a little- no a lot different.

I see my first test being the Faultline AVs followed by the Striga arcs and then the red caps in croatoa. My fire/fire scrapper survived this stress test. Let's set what the new /ela can do.

Well judging by your avatar...i wouldve assumed you were going to go my route (Elec/SR)
But to be honest, im not even sure yet. Ive got a few tests lined up just to see how /elec will fair. If all goes well, i may continue my love for claws. I have a feeling, it will be similar to dark and fire where the resists dont really make a differene until much later in the game.

I'm Tossing around the ideas of a Elm/SD, Spine/Ela (I've always wanted a spiner but never liked the look, Metal Spikes and Electric Armor, yes please) I'm also contemplating a Elm/SR or a Claw/Ela but they would probably be more of an isntead of as opposed to as an as well as.

I wonder what some of the bigger names on the boards are thinking of coming up with..
Id like to see exactly what kinda strategy everyone will have with this addition.
Personally, i feel like elec should have been scrapper-side for some time now.
That was second to the real stalker set i want-Ninjitsu.
i can dream...right?

I've already got my eyes set on Elec/Shield as my next Scrapper (abandoning Claws/SR because I haven't really found it fun) though, if it's as popular as it seems like it will be, I might go for something else (Elec/Inv maybe). I'll probably check the numbers for an Elec/* tank whenever we get those as well.

I would have, but I've been playing on my dark/sr since double xp weekend and will most likely continue to play it till i16 go live. So, I'm going with something different. I picked /regen because:
1) its been over a year since I've leveled one.
2) I have a feeling its going to be one of the lesser used combos when i16 go live. (Don't want to be like everyone else with spine/ela and elm/SD)
3) I want to see what I come up with leveling with my new outlook on set bonuses thanks to the boards.

DB/ela because of lightning reflexes and unlimited endurance. Although, that would most likely benefit a brute more, I want it as a scrapper. That would make scrapper number 10

Anyone with Thunder Strike can tell me the numbers it pulls? Because for a 3.3 animation the damage doesn't seem to be all that. The saving grace was the AoE aspect but isn't it the power that only deals partial damage to those around the target?

So how much does it do usually? Around 200-ish to the target and 100-ish to those around it?

I was going to do elec/shield at first, but the sheer amount of people rolling it would be retarded.
/Inv might be a good choice, that might be something to look into, although my current scrapper is a claws/inv, i kinda want a change of pace.
Im still set on elec/sr, or possibly dm/elec.

With the heal added to ELA, I'm thinking I might make a DB/ELA scrapper.

Of course, that'd lead me to whine endlessly about the resist cap... So it might be better to go with a tanker instead.

I have to admit I'm kinda curious about how an MA/Elec might play and what I might be able to achive with one. That, and electric flying jump kicks to the face, what's not to love?

I couldn't begin to even tell you a decent number. When I thunderstrike with my electric/shield brute, I'm getting damage from fury and saturation from AAO. It's a lot of damage. And strange that people think it's mostly a single target power...I routinely hit 6+ targets when I'm farming. I hit a lot less in regular missions largely because I don't bother herding. I bet a critting thunderstrike would be downright sexy.

MA/Elec....hmmm, thats sounds tasty.
I may have to check that out too.
Anyone have any idea on how it would stack up to WP in survivability?
My current main is MA/WP, and i was wondering how it would play out

I liked ELA before the change (granted, I did use Aid Self), but I don't think it'll be at WP levels of survivability in most situations - nor should it be. You get more damage, from both the damage aura, the endless endurance and the +recharge auto.

Survivability is going to be much more than enough for me though, even with minimal IO slotting. If I read the numbers correctly, with Tough/Weave, CJ and a steadfast, you're looking at 10% def to all, 58% res to S/L, 75% to energy, 45% fire/cold, 35% negative, 40% psi, half of CP more than half of the time, 380% regen more than half of the time (with health 3 slotted) and a heal as strong as recon although it's not up as often and using it for the +regen/-end means you might waste some of the heal component sometimes.

Posted

Hmmm, that sounds better than i thought.
Realistically, ive been looking for a more active secondary outside of regen, and i think i may have found it.

Nihilii-I created my claws/Inv, after seeing your db/inv. And for some reason, i feel like i may follow your lead here as well. Now...for a primary. Ive played with a friend who had a elec/elec brute. And i remember thinking it was far too squishy for me.
But for some reason i keep feeling that "i can make it strong", and my fear of less survivability lessens.

Maybe i will just match it was a sword set?

It should definitely be fine with a sword set. My Katana/Fire leveled great with Divine Avalanche, and Fire Armor plays pretty much the same as the new ELA should (resist based, with a heal).

So no one is taking electric/electric? Why not?
