So, that's where EA becomes on par with SR, and this is where it comes to outshine it. Unlike SR, you will have a handy unsuppressable stealth power, infinite endurance, a heal, a T9 that actually gives you another layer of survivability, a potentially greater recharge bonus, and decent-ish resistance without your HP being in the red.

    EA wins hands down.
This really helps me out. My main concern other than concept is just the overall feel of SR; I like it. However, your points reassure me that EA is the overall better choice. I think what was stopping me from just going SR is the idea of really having no defense other than...defense. Once you get hit a few times, that's it. With EA at least you have a bit more backing up your defense.

Now it's just a matter of coming up with a concept that explains the auras floating around my toon.

    SJ/EA or SJ/SR

    Hey all,

So after reading up on SJ, I ran into a road block. I'm a bit torn on a secondary...
On one hand, we have SR; which in itself is survivable, cheap, and comes with free recharge. It also allows for more room for other bonuses because of how easy it is to softcap.
On the other, we have EA; which I have little to no experience with, and looks similar to Elec armor with defense rather than resistance. EA should help with SJ's end issues later on, and also provides a nifty little healish power to use.

Where I'm stuck is that the concept may work better with SR, but on paper, I think EA would be a better choice in survivability. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Would SR be a better choice? Would I be able to build for enough regen/hp and still slot enough end recov to fuel SJ? SR at it's core is more appealing, due to EA's many auras and cloak. I should also note that I have enough inf. for a pretty decent build for either secondary if I end up wanting to stick with the toon.

    Thanks for your time guys.
    Bones
  3. Iv'e been planning a SJ/SR scrapper for several days now, and just out of curiosity, does the fact that you need to slot for so much end recovery take away from other bonuses? With SR, I tend to build for Regen and health, will I be hindered in any way by the end problems?
  4. Nice work...
Although I must say, the Deathscythe is by far my favorite. Looks great!

Survivability vs. AoE, I suppose. I'd think Claws/Electric would behave similarly to Dual Blades/Electric, though with a lower DPS potential.

I play my Electric/Fire with a level-pacted tank, so I'm playing it as a blapper with mez protection. All offense, no defense. I don't have my tier 9 attack or Fiery Embrace yet, and it's already an AoE death machine (level 30). It's going to be great in about five more levels and frankenslotted into its final offensive specs. But God help me if I try to leap into a giant uplevel spawn by myself. That's fixable, of course, to some extent. But it isn't a build priority since I'm almost never solo and only need to deal with aggro bleed, not with full spawns.

I wouldn't think that Dark Melee/Electric would be particularly strong no temps no insps. Overly simplistic, but to me, adding survivability to a resistance set is done with defense rather than a heal. You can do a lot with IOs, of course, but almost certainly not soft cap it, at least not practically. You could probably make it so that a single purple soft capped you, and be seriously badass for regular missioning WITH inspirations, but I suspect it would always have only middle of the road survivability without them.
I want to go DB/Elec, but the lack in survivability worries me. I mean, yea, teamings an option, but I will be rather frequent in the solo department as well. However, if one could be built with enough s/l defense to where its survivable with a decent damage output, I may have to look into it. We'll see, I havnt really been convinced by anyone or anything to roll one, but I DO have my eye on kat/elec.

Yea Werner, I was hoping someone would tell me that dm/elec turns into a beast...but i guess that dream will never come true :P

Correct me if Im wrong, but /SR is a defense based set. Which means that when and IF you get hit, you get hit hard and for relatively the full amount of damage as a result of little to no resistance.

In the lower DPS column, Katana won't be boosting Lightning Field nearly as much as Dual Blades. I'm figuring it'll work out around even.

The TROUBLE is that if you have a DPS build, you may not have the survivability to take on a pylon. On the other hand, you can always grab a spare tank to help out if all you're interested in is seeing your DPS, and NOT treating it as a survivability exercise as well. And also, Dual Blades/Electric doesn't have any more survivability than Katana in that regard, so it probably just takes doing a few runs until you get lucky.

I'm leveling a Katana/Electric myself, though he's just a lowbie. Not sure what I'm going to do with him, if anything, but it just sounded like fun. Electric/Fire is my current addiction, though.
The concept appeals to me, and the fact that there is a "possible" DPS route, makes me want to roll a kat/elec. I mean, if push comes to shove, throw a DA in there every once in awhile, and only shoot for a few defense bonuses and leave the rest to DPS.

Elec/fire huh? Thats a interesting combination. Anything to report?

In the mean time, How do you feel about dm/elec Werner? As mentioned, mines 42, and Id like to nip it in the butt if its not going to please me in my need for a badass scrapper. In which case, no insp and no temps will be used at all during my playtime.
  8. So Im nearing the end of my IO'ing journey with my elec/wp (damn LoTG 7.5's) and I put my dm/elec on hold to build it. Now that I may get some time here in the next week or so, I was thinking about going back to the dm/elec, but something else */elec sparked my interest.

In another thread Werner mentioned a db/elec being somewhere near the top on the dps charts, which got me thinking...how would kat/elec fair in terms of dps? DB is something that always eludes my interest after 20 something levels, and I can't say Iv'e honestly had a kat/ scrapper. So why not put the two together?

So my question is, what kind of dps would we be pushing with a decent build? Would kat/elec be anywhere close to db/elec? After playing 50 levels of elec/ I need something that throws out the AoE as well as the single target damage :P

On the subject of /elec in general, my theory with dm/elec was to bolster the AoE output by a soul drained lightening field and fireball. Am I completely off, or does it actually do something nasty? Im lvl 42, so before I truck the next 8 lvls, I'd like to know if im just off in my understanding.

    elec/??/mu help

    elec/wp/mu.

Why? Because solo-farming yourself by lvl 32 with +2 x 8 is extremely satisfying.
Also because 100 hp/s and softcapped S/L makes you fairly indestructable.
  10. Hey guys, thanks for the welcome.

Ive been messing around in PS and I must say, it's taking some practice getting used to looking at the moniter rather than the "paper". Im still figuring everything out, and look forward to any other tips some of the art forum goers have to offer
  11. Hey all, Iv'e been around for awhile and look at this section of the forums often, and due to college and RL, I havn't been able to pursue drawing as much as I would like to . As of today however, I picked up a Bamboo tablet, and am excited to make the switch from "classic" art to digital.

If anyone would be so kind as to give me a few pointers and whatnot on where to start when it comes to creating digital art, it would be greatly appreciated. We have some great artists in this community, and I'd like to join the ranks

Also, I will be using PS CS5, which I again, will not be used to as Iv'e been using Gimp for several years now.
  12. Im currently using my main, Elec/WP as my farming buddy, and realistically, after BU + LR + TS + BL...Nothing is left. And TS and BL are up enough that spawn melt without LR always going off.

My vote is for elec/wp, although fire/wp would be equally as devastating.

Cant say that Iv'e ever seen the big orange CRITICAL, but at times, it seems like I see two of the same number float up from the same enemy. I'm not saying it's a crit, but without numbers or facts, I like thinking that it has a chance to do even MORE damage
  14. Yea, after looking at your build, I flipped it to fully saturate and saw the significantly higher numbers

Well, just looking at things, I wouldn't have put it into THAT high of a neighborhood, but then again, It all depends on the market at the time and how patient I am.

Thank you for your imput, I think i'm going to run your build. Any advice on squeezing out more recharge? Or do you think thats enough to have LR up as often as possible?
  15. Hey claws, I was looking at your build, and I like what I see, but a little more defense suits me better. How much did that build run you?
Im working on a build with softcapped S/L and over 1000% regen.
How big of a difference does the some 400% regen make and I know id recognize the lack of the extra 10% of defense, but if the price is right, I may just tweak yours.

Yes, Im actually out of town until a little bit later tonight, ill throw it in mids and post it up.

Im guessing Kin Combats are going to my friend/enemy?

    Elec/WP Route

Hey all, Im currently using my elec/wp to marketeer, and im enjoying him enough to actually use the money he makes on his build. So i was curious as to where you all go when it comes to this combo. I would like soft capped S/L for starters, but everything else kind of seems out of my normal expertise.

Anyone willing to throw a build together for me would be greatly appreciated. As for price, well, hes my marketeer
  19. I do have to admit, I'm kind of dissapointed in not having anything more to follow
Iv'e had this thread bookmarked to keep me entertained, and to also encourage me to play the game mission to mission rather than breaks of AE.

Thanks for the read, and I hope to hear of another journey from you, perhaps in my favorite AT section...Scrappers
  20. Iv'e never taken advantage of this event before, how do you go about transfering for free? When I go to transfer my character, it still shows up as 9.99.

Could anyone be of some assistence?
  21. My experience included that of a Kin/Sr, and I would like to point out, as others have, that the animation times really aren't that bad. It feels very smooth and attacks go right into eachother more flawlessly than older primaries.

Overall, Kinetic melee will be my first character once GR hits.
  22. Going to have to agree with Eva...I feel as if these buffs are more along the lines of "That'll shut em' up" rather than a creative change to a set in need of some much needed love.
  23. Yea I honestly can't say that im excited to play my MA scrapper

  25. Also a crit-bonus to the set in the form of a 2 second duration after using EC.
