Discussion: 51 Month and 54 Month Veteran Rewards

Hopefully, the helmets will be male and female.
[/ QUOTE ]
No.. Only the Widow helm is available for females.
Also, I'm a little disappointed the vet rewards are starting to be recycled. I'm surprised they didn't let you choose one of 2 other temp powers given out - like the holy shotgun or the bow & arrow from Croatoa...
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. They should add some of the other temp powers as alternate choices. Like the bow & arrow, or the sword from Croatoa... or the holy shotgun, or the voidhunter rifle, or even vial of bees!

So... it being from the Collector's Edition makes it off-limits? Then how come the Arachnos Helms can be retread and the Attacks can be re-treads?
[/ QUOTE ]
The Arachnos Helms were from the CoV pre-order, and so didn't cost anyone anything extra (the money paid towards the pre-order was taken off the actual purchase of the game when CoV came out).
Happy about the helmets. Those have been absent for far too long. The second power thing is fine. It makes the choice less of a problem when you REALLY want both of something but doesn't leave out the choice completely. I really don't expect better and better vet stuff honestly, and exclusive costumes always make me sad for newbies (I have a boxing fanatic friend who hates me due to this).
Not the most exciting new stuff ever, but kinda cool regardless.
Maybe the reason the other temp powers have not been offered is that they are either available again through flashback or they are in the process of being converted to recipes available through the normal course of play.
For me this is nice. It's nice icing on a great tasting cake. I had one of the Pre-order Helmets and it was nice slapping it on my Soldier VEAT instead of the default one. With that in mind, I never used it on any other toon. With VEATS though, this is nice.
As for the Recycled previousl Awards, again, its nice icing. I am a ranged player, rarely get into melee, so having a second ranged Vet power to complement my Nemesis Staff is nice. Sure I would liked to have instead seen two new "previously" Temporary powers with their bonuses keyed to At vice Origin, one of them melee and one Ranged where if you were a prediminantly melee AT like Scrapper, Tanker, Brute, Stalker, you got a bonus for the melee one and if you were a predominantly Ranged AT like Corr, Blaster, MM, Controller, Squid, Dom, you got the bonus for taking the ranged.
A Broadsword/Stolen SMg option would have been super.
But ultimately its all good to me. i just got my 48 Month.

I like the inclusion of the vet helms. But I really wish they had just added two new powers to choose from. Honestly why not a Shotgun/Pistol/Bow/Sword..something that would honestly add a lot of flavor to a character?

Yes... you too will have THREE attack powers that MISS more than HALF the time and for which you don't have room on your power tray for anyway!!
[/ QUOTE ]
They hit 75% of the time against even con minions, just like everything else.
The should benefit from the new lowbie accuracy bonus, same as everything else.
My high level characters have enough accuracy bonuses from sets that I don't miss much even with the vet reward powers.
You can have lots of power trays now, all around the edges of the screen. I have one tray just for travel powers, and another just for temp powers.

I agree that the helms are looong overdue and should probably have gone in around 12 months or so...but that will get me arguing on how the VR are being handled anyway.
And yes, I'll trade my Nemmie staff any day for Iron Blade.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
As an completist badge-hunter, I'm getting sick of these Veterans Badges. I'm hoping that they stop at 60 months.

I am pretty sure this is incorrect.
I'm not sure we're even getting the Widow helm with the veteran reward - the text lists only red wolf, wolf, crab and mu helms, though widow is shown in the visual (but they're recycled visuals, which we already know were not glanced at or updated, from the pictures of the old blackwand look). But I know that at least the mu and crab helms are available for females, I have seen those 2 on pre-order villains.
I am looking forward to these helms for my additional costumes on arachnos soldiers and widows I also have a few characters who would love having the ghost slaying axe AND sands of mu
I've used the wolf and crab spider helms on female characters.
Triumph: White Succubus: 50 Ill/Emp/PF Snow Globe: 50 Ice/FF/Ice Strobe: 50 PB Shi Otomi: 50 Ninja/Ninjistu/GW Stalker My other characters
Having extra powers in the low levels will be nice but overall I am kind of disappointed, but whatever, would rather have them use the resources to make the game better than worry about these Vet Rewards..

My work blocks the home coh url, but not the boards...can someone repost the vet rewards here please?
Well, I think the Developers are doing a great job!
I definitely feel as if I get my money's worth every month.
Keep up the good work!
Im sorry to see that there is so much complaining about the new vet rewards (though I cant say I didnt expect it). Just so the devs know that not all of us are put off by the new rewards, Ill put in my two cents.
As a player with both the Collectors DVD editions of Coh/Cov, along with the Good vs Evil and Wedding pack add-ons, I take a certain pride in having available to me (close to) the whole slew of costume options in the game. One of the things I have always wanted to complete my collection was access to the pre-order sprints and helmet options (I count the sprints as costume options because of the visible effect they add to your character, even though they eventually fall into disuse). Of course, sprints came in (relatively) early in the vet reward program, while the helmets remained elusive. Seeing the helmets now being offered as Vet rewards and knowing that I can now fill that missing gap in my costume options makes me elated. Thanks, devs!
As for the choice getting to choose from two of the previously unselected vet powers, I have mixed feelings. Im not as put of by it as some people, (Its no where near as disappointing as the 45 months reward, which is rather bare (I mean, didnt they give out freespecs WITH stuff in the past?)) but it would be nice to have access to different, more unique powers. (I guess my biggest complaint is the overuse of Darkness or Negative energy type powers, as in the sand and wand powers. Personally, I think a choice from some auto-powers such automatic defensive/damage resistance/health and endurance regen bonus or perhaps a bonus to power recharge rate or endurance discounts, just throwing out ideas here people, would be extremely awesome. If the devs are going to keep going to giving us attack powers as vet rewards though, please at least mix in damage types and effects other than darkness.)
So yeah, long story short, Im excited, especially about the helms.
If I can still hit it, I'm not getting enough xp!
well this suck i bought the LE game for nothing,i was waiting for something new o well ><
[ QUOTE ]
Well this is a nice plus for all those that didn't pre-order either CoH or CoV however I will now think twice about any pre-ordering incentives given in the future. I mean what is the point of ordering early just to have your bonus taken away at a future date?
[/ QUOTE ]
They said right from the get go that the helms would eventually be made available in some manner to all others (originally, it was expected to be pay-for). Pre-Orders still got the head start, and unless you got ripped off, it didn't cost you any extra.
[ QUOTE ]
Oh I wouldn't get to cozy with those nice Vet powers either as it seems they are Temporary Powers anyway. I imagine they will go sometime in the future as most TEMPS do.
[/ QUOTE ]
How long have you been playing that you can complain about the helmets yet don't know that the Veteran Reward powers, while based on temporary powers, are permanent?

The helmets were not the from the limited edition version of the game. They were from the Pre-Order. Different things (You could get the LE and the Preorder).

Well, in one respect, I'm glad to see the vet rewards continue, but at the same time, I feel a bit underwhelmed that the developers aren't getting at all imaginitive with new rewards. Recycled rewards just isn't getting me excited...Thank you, but meh...

Yes, I feel the same way. Even making permanent one or two of the other already-existing minor temp powers would have had more newness. Oh well.

Thing is, neither of these rewards really took many resources. All already in game, just had to put in a database entry or two.

Wow. That's...umm...as much as I like this game, that's kinda, well, lame. Out of fresh ideas, are we? How about a good travel power to make 1-14 less painful? Some new art for bases? A motorcycle?
(See, I refuse to just post a negative message unless I have alternate suggestions...)

Helmets get a shrug from me, but so do most costume options.
54... on the one hand, meh. Stuff I already have or don't want anyway.
BUT... silver lining? Now every character can have the Ghost Slaying Axe and have a better chance of dealing with those *(8%$8 CoT spectrals.
I usually go Sands and then Staff/Wand based on origin, once 54 hits I can grab Axe for anyone who has trouble with spectrals.
Lethal damage, negative damage... etc etc.
That said, hey free stuff... but something different would have been better.
Like some have said, maybe the Gabriel's Hammer or pistol temp powers.

Well, I've read the thread through from start to here, and I have to say I agree with most everything that everyone is said.
I'm glad that the devs appreciate my steadfast membership for four and a half years...but I can't help but sit here looking at my gold watch engraved with my name after a lifetime of employment and say..."This is it?"
