So, uh, if you didn't get the new patch that was recalled, does that mean you won't have to update when you try and log in?

[/ QUOTE ]

You won't have a patch when you log in next. It's just business as usual like any other day. Were testing something on the Training Room (see this post) and will let you all know what we plan to do moving forward once that plan is ready for public consumption.

I am looking forward to devouring this new plan. It sounds delightful.

It's not as bad as the one time, they went through with a huge patch release.
Players got into the game only to find out everything was more messed up. It had to be rerolled back and the time waiting was a lot longer than this will be.
Least they caught this one in time.

[/ QUOTE ]

Something odd about June 10th, it seems. That one was June 10th, 2006 according to ParagonWiki. They did manage to put in a small server stability patch on June 10th, 2005, but 2 out of 3 on this date being bad is a bit odd.

I know what the bug is and it's a doozy.

For those affected by it, they would be very, very mad at what it does to their characters.

Additionally, it can be exploited by RMTers!

And it's not something that would be caught on the Test server or QA due to the nature of those testing environments.

The fix is relatively simple to code (meaning it should be fixed within a day or two). Indded a hotfix is being tested on Test as I type. So, patience.

I did that and i still have a bug in my lvl 50 ice blaster, when i log in i dont see any baddies or contacts and i cant leave to another city, it wont let me on the train or take tunnels and i cant open doors to get in the buildings like the university, is this the bug they're fixing?

Hi iceninja,

We have a discussion thread about this issue (that is not specific to Issue 12) in the Technical Issues Forum. You can find more information by clicking that link.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would disagree. I have never had the problem until i12 went live. I find it not having something to do with i12 and just occurring the week it went live for a lot of people more than a coincidence and something specific.

I'm wondering whether it would affect the European servers, because at present they are running the new version.

I'm hoping that they figured out they hadn't fixed the icon stacking bug and just decided that this patch wouldn't be complete without that, considering it's one of the few things left, major, that hasn't been fixed yet.

Not really. It is an old bug. I've had that bug happen to me twice before I-12. Once in I-10, and another in I-9.

Although it hasn't happen to me in I-12 yet, it does seem to happen more now to other people though. Perhaps there maybe something in I-12 that's making this old out-of-sync bug more potent nowadays?

I realize every MMO has bug problems, but compared to my experiences with other MMOs, CoX is the worst in this regard in that:

1. They released Issue 12 with many of these major bugs known and uncorrected. The release was motivated more by a marketing deadline than having a quality product.

2. After the release, we have waited for three weeks with no fixes to major issues of client crashes and teammate buff displays (among others). I am used to other MMOs having bugs of this severity fixed within 3 days, not 3 weeks. For almost an entire month of paid subscription, this product has not been performing to my expectations.

Yes, I realize an MMO is an enormously complex project prone to various bugs and other problems. But that doesn't excuse what I see as poor decision-making in regards to product quality and a substandard ability to respond to and correct these problems. This isn't a case of "Oops, we overlooked that -- we'll get it fixed 'Soon.'" This is a case of "An internal decision was made regarding the release date for which we're unable to offer anymore details. You'll have to live with it for now, and we'll try to find time to fix the bugs later while we continue work as usual with new hover animations, veteran pets' AI tweaks, etc." There are issues here beyond simple programming oversights that I believe need to be evaluated and addressed.

Lighthouse, despite my personal feelings towards how my gaming experience has been affected, I still want to thank you for the hard work you put into here as a community manager. You do a wonderful job as a liason between the players and the devs, and you do it very professionally. In this arena, my experience in these forums is actually better than any other MMO I've ever played, and you and your team deserve a bit of applause.

Thanks for laugh, I needed that!

To those that make every single aspect of this game work, I salute you.

This guy has no clue as to just what's involved, that humans are imperfect beings, certainly never played many MMO's and probably needs an exterminator for that bug up there.

While I appreciate the reservation to implement a bugged patch into the live servers, I really wish this discernment had been present for the deployment of Issue 12 in the first place. I'm already upset that many of these bugs have been in place for three weeks without fixes. In learning that this new update is faulty, I am losing faith in your ability to properly support your own game.

At least you were able to identify the problem, and I hope this patch will be corrected so these bug fixes can be implemented ASAP.

[/ QUOTE ]

While I partially agree with you, Issue 12 was deployed properly. Every issue has gone live with bugs that were fixed to the best of their ability with later patches. There will never be a big issue to go from test to live with absolutely no bugs. The point of beta testing is to do away with the bugs that make the would make the live patch a nightmare.

IMO the devs are doing a fantastic job with this, with one exception doublegutpunchanimationforwidowshastogoyouhearmeba bhastogo.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree. The benefits of issue 12 outweigh the problems BY FAR. I'm amazed we got along without issue 12 as long as we did. lol

I12 may have exacerbated the problem, but this has happened to me dozens of times over the course of years. It's nothing new, although maybe it has become more widespread.

I either get a teammate to tp me or I tp myself (although the SG 'port power won't work since you can't click on any menus while bugged). That seems to re-synch everything. The bug has been around at least since Good Vs Evil was released, I think, since I started using the Pocket D 'port to re-synch as soon as it became available (I think. My memory could be faulty on that point but the bug has been around for over a year at the very least.)

Hi,
my post was specifically about no shutdown notification whilst "Ingame" and carrying out a respec, where the text box that shows that message is unavailable. I apologise if I was not clear about that and I have posted further about this problem in the suggestion forum.
I do read these forums regularly but not avidly and certainly not every day. This shutdown was an unregular occurence and so should have been highlighted ingame.
The server shutdown notification system needs an overhaul so every player ingame, whatever they are doing, will be made aware of such a significant event.

These forums are pretty easy to check on daily if you want to know whats going on. I really don't think there's an issue.

I was not saying that it did not exist before i12, but to say i12 did not make it occur for others is incorrect. Personally, never had this issue. Since i12 it happens on almost every zone/mission enter, thus the game is completely unplayable.

Not going to respec all of my characters into teleport just to play the game.

So any Idea as to when this patch will hit live? I am anxious to see if my synching problem will be resolved as it was on test.

Still working on it and we'll post to the forums (and let people know via the updater and server status page) what's coming in terms of patch schedule.

If the Test server is closed tommorow, I'm sure they are working on a hot fix for the patch interanlly to test out on test tommorow. If all goes well, I'd say we might get it friday...but more likely early next week.

Sorry, Hobo, I did not realize it was such a dramatic problem. I had thought it was just more of the same old occasional annoyance, spread around to more people. What you describe sounds craptacular.

I am usually pretty tolerable with this stuff and usually just keep paying until stuff is fixed. The money is not an issue for me at all.

This time though the game is just completely unplayable. I just can't continue to provide money for a broken product, especially when a fix does not appear to be on the horizon.
