o.o will the Pocket-D pass be a normal type of ticket? or something specially printed for the event? and if so.. can we get some picks of it afterwards for curiosity sake and wiki?

The party isn't in-game. It's in a Brick and Morter club. The Devs/Marketing Guys are being "cute" calling it a Pocket D VIP Pass and the Pocket D Jubilee. There is an Item you can get In-Game for attending the con when you pick up your Pocket D Pass to get into the party, though.

This game has exclusive stuff in it. Vet rewards, prerelease helmets, TF rewards, etcetera. If these things were necessary to play, you'd have them. This game is beautiful in that it never deprives you of anything that provides a major QOL upgrade or a necessity of play.
Let the people have their momento and don't be a priss about it when someone else gets something you don't. Do you get antsy when other people get better IO drops than you do?

I'm not sure if you are aware, but Lighthouse announced that they were NOT going to be at GenCon Indy this year. I was particularly disappointed as it will be my first GenCon and they aren't going to be there.

The company is just trying to be nice to the people who attend and who stop by the booth. Who knows, some of the existing customers who don't play other games, like me, might see something interesting at the booth and end up subscribing to a second game, thus generating more income for the company. That's the idea behind these giveaways/exclusives - to create a buzz and more booth traffic, not to "punish" loyal customers who can't attend.
That's why I think the exclusive in-game item is going to be something inconsequential, like a "Fanboy"/"Fangirl" badge or some such. I can't imagine they're going to give away access to an exclusive power, or even an exclusive costume piece, unless it's something silly like the Comic-Con "Eye" emblem.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to fly from Pennsylvania to attend the con again this year and yes, I'm happy/excited that NCSoft is giving away an exclusive item to attending customers. There's no way it's going to be something so impressive or game changing that anyone who can't attend would quit the game over it though.

Ya I'm in the same boat, especially since I'm up in Alberta, Canada & with 2 young kids it's kind of hard for me to make long trips like that. 
Though I would LOVE to have been able to make it down. 
So how are those of us whom would love to be there but have no chance on Earth of being able to going to have a chance for the special Pocket D event? Especially since I'm one of those players whom make a point of going to Pocket D events, both live & Test, since I have no ability to getting down to those live events in person. I'm sure there are many others in similar circumstances whom do the same thing as a way to at least get to hang with you all. 
I'll be honest I have yet to see you folks announce any event you're at North of Montana, or even if you've left the States for similar events. Infact the only time I've seen you announce your actual presence at events seem to be focussed in California.

That's true. Sometimes it feels like they've given too much to some players, so that when special items or rewards are given out, some of the more self-serving players feel slighted or offended. Even today, some players feel slighted about even doing a Task Force for special costume drops, or getting certain badges or defeating certain enemies to unlock weapons. Or that they have to pay $10 for a Wedding Pack.
However, if we followed the mantra of "No Player Left Behind", we would have to lower standards for everyone. There would be very few neat rewards in game (if at all), making for a drab player experience. There probably wouldn't be any other handouts at conventions or Meet & Greets either, since it would discriminate against other players. Would this be better than having a costume piece reward, like a Which Hat or Roman Armor, that in actuality most characters will use very little and then later replace?
This in-game item at Comic Con is just one in-game item, and probably a trivial one at that. It's probably something that's going to be neat, but not earth-shaking. I argue that it's probably not worthy of the torches and pitchforks.
Coming from a player who has a lot of unlockable items already, I say this in-game item is probably a nice piece of schwag, and even though my chances of getting to Comic Con are pretty slim at this point, and I won't get to have one 
, I say to NCNC, "More power to you." Since the VIP pass will be obtainable by anyone who visits the booth, hopefully it will go some way towards drawing more people into the game, so they can learn about the game I've enjoyed for the last four years. Maybe we'll even steal some players away from more draconian MMOs

You may already know this, but the "Pocket D Event" is a physical get-together at a bar somewhere in San Diego. They are only calling it "Pocket D" as a nod to the game. Therefore, I'm not sure why anyone who can't physically be IN San Diego on July 26, 2008 would expect to be able to attend this event/party.

As I understand it, you just have to show up at the NC booth at the convention to get it. Ex Libris did mention something about PMing him, but I think that's only if you're in a situation such as - you can't make it to the show until 5 or 6 PM on Friday, and not at all on Saturday and you're concerned that they will be out of passes on Friday by the time you get to the booth.

It sounds like anyone who has an existing account can get the code for the in game item, regardless of their age. I am curious what, if any, proof that I have an active account I need to bring to the booth.
