Oh, and ONE HECK OF A JOB, TEAM!!! FOUR MORE YEARS!! FOUR MORE YEARS!!!

Figured I'd add another post thanking the dev team. You guys are a shining example of what I hope to be in a few years. I'm going back to school in a month after taking nearly 8 years to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. My major is going to be Game Art and Design. I hope you guys will still be hiring in three or four years when I graduate because I would absolutely love to work with a team that's as devoted to their game as you guys are. Devs, you rock and thank you for showing me what a real dev should be (if I had been a longtime player of any of the other MMOs I doubt that I would actually want to get into the field). So thanks again, and keep up the good work.

Since the team was so small, we had a lot of flexibility. With few people, there was little time lost due to infrastructure and bureaucracy. If I had an idea, I'd run it by Hero1 or Positron and, after a few minutes discussion we'd go back to our desks and "do it." A lot of "let's try it and see if it works" development took place.

My sincerest hope is that this isn't lost with the larger team

Sometimes a small team is an advantage. I'm sure you know the origin of the phrase "Adding manpower to a late project makes it later."

Conversely, though, expanding the team only means there is more room for such creative "experimenting", as long as they have the time to get up to speed and get the chance to get their hands on the code and experiment with it as well. I don't think a larger team necessarily slows things down, it does allow you to work on more things at once.

I wasnt a huge fan of i9 thru i11. I am looking forward to i12 though. But looking at the numbers of what you had manpower wise to work with. I9 through I11 is a little bit more impresive now. I cant wait for it to get even better. Giving me my VEAT's is a great start. Look forward to the future.

I'll admit there was a time in late 2006-early 2007 when my faith in CoX wavered and I decided to see what...a certain fastasy game..was like. While that game certainly had its strong points, I contantly found myself thinking "this" was much better in CoX, and so was "that", and "that"...etc. . In short, I realized just how good this game really is, and when I9/I10 hit, I dumped the other game in the trash and came back where I belonged. Keep it up Devs, and thank you!

One thing above all others in Cox spolit every other MMO I have tried.

See that cliff, where you have an objective ? Here - fly/jump up and grab it.

Other MMOs twist through miles of twisty turney mazes that taunt you.

Like Perez as a lowbie for the whole game, all the time.

Make mine a travel power!

Happy Castle makes Elec/Elec Stalkers, just for the lulz involved.

Mean Castle goes psycho on Candlestick. That thread was epic.

I really don't know which is more amusing, honestly.

Doom.

Yep.

This is really doom.

The slim glimmer of hope of me getting into the COx Dev team got even smaller. =( That was one of the reasons I chose Computer Science as a major. (not the only reason, I love to play with programming code) However, with such a small team, I would defiantly have to step up my game. Or.... perhaps... Hey BAB... Need a water boy =0? a chauffeur... =) Well, back to the books, time to make my Resume look better.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

And once you *get* to the objective, they make you run aaalllllllll thhheee waaaaayyyyy baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaccccccccckkkkkkkkkkk.

.....at which time your mission/quest giver says they need something from that place again.

....this is assuming you were able to find the objective in the first place, which can only be done with the help of player-created web sites.

Small teams can also be dangerous. You can burn your resources.

I worked for The Daily Commerical in Leesburg, Fla. (a.k.a. smalltown paper) in the sports department that went from 6 daily workers to 2 in the span of two months, leaving us to hire someone on the quick and we went with 3 for over a year.

We maintained the level of coverage (10 high schools, a junior college, community coverage plus formating national AP stories), worked lots of overtime and earned roughly the same amount of awards.

The reward at the end? No increase in staff because we proved we could do it with three. The sports editor left within a few months for a job with the Daytona Beach News Journal (he's still there and good for him) and I left a few months after that.

The sports editor did an insane amount of layout during college football season. He formatted 11-13 page sections all by himself on Saturdays and on deadline. When he told me later that year he had gotten accepted by Daytona Beach I immediately shook his hand and said congratulations ... now run!

He was an insanely good writer. He was a nationally regarded sportswriter but had to fall on his sword and do all the layout (save for his days off) if we were to get any writing done during a 5-day-a-week work schedule.

Hats off to your achievement for maintaining a game this size so long with that size staff... but I hope the following: You're working in areas you enjoy and not of necessity/and you haven't burned the candle at both ends!

Cheers!

Thank you, City of Heroes, for giving me a superhero social network combined with amazingly smooth game play. Petitions signed with realistic expectations.

This is truely a unique game (I wonder if ever player thinks that about their MMO? ). After 2 and a half years I'm still excited to hear the great stuff you guys come up with on a consistant basis. And judging from BaB's and Castle's comments, it's obvious a lot of hard work and dedication has gone into the game to make it this great...I've even managed to get my wife hooked now, and let me tell you, that was no easy task! lol
Thanks Devs for all the hard work and giving us a great place to spend our spare time
GOD bless,
Shem

No there is a big difference between Jack and Castle. Castle says what he thinks and always tells us the truth. Jack use to lie his butt off and do it with a smile.

Also if there were any threads that pointed out his lies or that he didn't agree with he would get his Hammer Cuppa Commie to delete/edit/or ban the user.
