Why you should never, ever play a Regen Scrapper

While I can appreciate the need for a good anti-guide, I'm not sure if this is the place to be making one for the purpose of satire.

You need to read some patch notes every once in awhile. MoG is no longer totally retarded.

This is brilliant satire.

I applaud you.

(Oh, and I take no side in the other thread. )

I will always be able to out last you man. It takes real scrappers to play a regen, guess you can stick with being an invuln or something.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

And nothing in his post said Satire.

The best satire doesn't advertise, but much like porn and obscenity, we still know it when we see it.

The fact that it's copied almost word for word from the 'Why you should never, ever play Dark Armor' thread might have been a hint.

Yeah, but this ain't no "Modest Proposal." More sarcasm and less vitriol, better satire do make. In other words, nah. It's more trolling than satirical.

EDIT: Now, granted, if I had seen that Dark Armor thing, I might have suspected. That is, if the OP didn't keep up the tone in all the later posts...

You're just upset because you got fooled. Of course, you could have saved face if you laughed too, but now...

Now it's just too late. I shall cry sad tears for you.

You won't see a thread titled that.

Guess it's just more reading between the lines though!

That said..

Should I even bother? Would numbers and datamining I'll keep promising but never produce be enough to counter a well thought out analysis based on experience that could have been skewed in the first place? Would it even be worth the effort?

Probably not. I shall ponder.

Real Scrappers pick Regeneration? Like how real men drink watered-down domestic beer high in calories, drive huge trucks with poor mileage and trade-in values, eat food so spicy it gives them ulcers and otherwise engage in short-sighted self-destructive activities? Because that's exactly what choosing Regeneration is like.
-
You know what these 'real men' end up like at 50? Pot-bellied, out of shape and poor. Just like Regeneration scrappers. Meanwhile, the metaphorical diet of V8s and well-balanced meals, combined with an affordable car that holds its resale value (possibly an Acura TSX or Scion tC, or maybe a Volkswagen Eos if you like convertibles. I've never been to big on them, personally; the wind messes up my hair and I'm sort of agoraphobic), means that Invulnerability will be performing even better at 50 than it did at 30.

LOL

Funny troll.

If the OP is at all serious then I would have to question why it was that the Devs saw fit to hit /Regen with the nerf bat SO many times in the past.

I know that my /regen was one of the easiest to level out of all my chanaracters. And is still my favorite to play over all. Complete killing machine that barefly ever gets stopped (normally when I am not paying attention )

Arc 139668: Bob's Crazy Car Dealership

HAHAHA!!!

The OP should write a "How to troll" guidebook.

It'd be NY's bestseller!

Things that you have not considered. Fact one that regen paired with either DM or Spines is the fastest level toons in the game period. The nature of regen is either finishing a fight at full health or in the red. If we are in the red then we get to full far faster than any other toon period, thus reducing downtime.

While we are in combat as long as our regen is not overwhelmed then we just heal it back. As far as Dull Pain and Instant Healing I only use them for the tough fights, which are few. Also reconstruction is rarely used. I like others here really doubt that you played this set at all. lol.

Powers like Reconstruction and DM's Shipon life when needed can usely keep me alive long enough to heal the damage taken. When I need more healing because it is a tough fight I active Instant Healing and Dull Pain.

Poor satire thread is satyrical.

I 100% agree with the OP.

If the entire set wasn't built around Resilience more ppl might be apt to try it out. I know I gave up on mine and you guys should to. Not saying the set is useless, just that its awful, painful, useless and desperately in need of dev help.

The OP has made a reasoned and sensible post and I can do nothing more than agree. Well written sir, I applaud you.

I think it's clear that there is only one response that makes sense:

Buff Regen.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Regen does not need a buff. What all scrappers have to be scrankers? No we do not need to be scrankers (scapper + tanker=scranker). This set at release was uber. Then out came the nerf bat and treated this set like a red headed step son. My main in my sig does not die often. Only on the hardest fights or enemies that I have not faced before which is not many.

This would include some EB (looking at Envoy of Shadows), Malta (if sappers run me dry), renegade vangaurd (still need to get more experience fighting them to truly be able to handle them better), and large spawns solo, since I am not use to fighting large spawns solo. Meaning there are times that some maps cause enemies to spawn where you would be facing more than you should for a solo hero set on heroic.

The solution is clear with /Regen. Just turn IH and DP into toggles to make up for the increased endurance recovery offered by QR.

Sound good?

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict
