    claws/??

    I really like Claws/SR.
I'm level 24 and things have been going very well since 22.
Whats really handy is SR is a contained defense set. Which means, unlike WP for example, it doesn't matter how many enemies you are taking on, your equally protected.

I was rolling along in a team at 18-21, so i bumped my difficulty to +1/+3 for that group. When i was done, and SOed out, i've had no problem maintaining this difficulty.

SR is fairly precarious at this point, having about 25% def to all except aoe (20% to that).
But with just one small defense inspir my survivability skyrockets. Because of this, i find i just load up on defense inspirs from my most recent contact before going into solo missions or tanking scenarios.

Certainly this build is amazing at the softcap, which i can reach with two inspirs right now, and am only getting closer.

Quickness is also something to consider. Claws with +rech is amazing.
  2. So if brute or scrapper are valid, will I find a FM/SD too end heavy? I don't want it to be a pain to play until I can properly IO at 50.
  3. Hi, i'm a returning player. I'd like to start a FM toon. I'm leaning towards scrapper, but if brute is better with the set please tell me.

I don't want to have major endurance issues, so I'm not sure which secondary to pick. On top of that, most other primaries have some kind of mitigation... fire seems to have none. When going FM/ am i going to be a lot more squishy then Super Strength for example?

What would you recommend as a secondary under these conditions (i.e. not too squishy and not bad with endurance)? I don't really want to do willpower as I already have a few /WP toons... unless its really really good.

I was thinking maybe FM/SD Scrapper.

    Thanks
  4. The ACC thing could also do with the beginners luck on test, but not on live. I'd suggest ignoring acc when comparing.

Maybe it's just me... but when I saw this subject... I just got a modified version of "Holding out for a hero" running through my head that just won't go away.....

"Where have all the rednames gone
And where are all the devs."

And it just kinda goes on from there....

lmfao I got the exact same vibe.
  6. Tips:

Air Sup. Man, If you haven't played /WP with Air Sup, your missing out. Definitely the pick for level 6, except for possibly Stone/WP.

Used (and continue to use) it from 1-50, and it boosts survival more then you'd think possible.

Tough & Weave are equally useful in my books. Weave boots your defense to reasonable level, and what you don't have resists against, you have defense against, so its important. QR + Stam gets you through any trouble with running the toggles, you just have to slot for some endredux along with the normal defense/res slotting.

Honestly, I must say that my brute became the most sturdy around level 45. Tough Weave, SoW, Air Sup, all 4 toggles... all properly slotted, it definitely makes /WP one of the strongest.

That said, if your thinking of skipping Tough or Weave, or SoW, realize that your ability to fight against toxic foes, and Environmental damage foes is less.

HPT is great to be slotted with 3(or 2 if you have to stretch) Health, 2 (or 1 if your stretched) Res.
Some slot MoB or FH etc. first, but make sure you have HPT 3slotted when you hit SOs, it makes a huge difference.
  7. Its like your making a joke... without making a joke.
    (A very convincing satire indeed)

As for the people posting without using a brain, or forgot what post they were replying to.... have fun, regen sux. luls.
  8. <QR> personally, i find this pack far too lacking.

It is a very small audience of appeal, and includes only a few costume items.

I'm of the opinion that this should simply be a free addition/update.
Now, that said, im not against having costume packs, but if your going for that, better make sure they're sizeable and not so obscure.
  9. That isn't really the level 50 IO build. I like to make builds for after SOs, with the majority of my slots, that way it applies to the most levels, without having multiple builds. Once you do reach 50 IOs, you really only need two, in which case procs and uniques etc. will be put in place.

  13. Well, the last few threads gave me a bit of insight. For instance, i didn't realize resistance was applied before bodyguard.

From this, I'm going to go with Mu Mastery. The shield will reduce the damage i take, and my bots take in BGMode, Electrifying Fences also prevent kb, so i can burnpatch the hell outta groups.
Scorpion is a good choice i suppose, but the problem is its defense. Find something to hit through that defense, and you've got nothin' left.
  14. [ QUOTE ]

if you dont care about the shield then it shouldn't even be a question for you. Go Mu. Personally I think you're obsessing over much about burn patches, but whatever floats your boat.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hm, i was under the impression that Bots burn patches were a very big portion of Bots/ damage output, and that getting a decent immob was pretty high on the priority list. Because of that i figured it would be better to get Mace, due to getting the immob at 41, not 44. But just how much does it matter that the mobs don't stay in the patches that long?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
all the points have already been listed Black Carnage. I've listed what I think about the KB issue already. you need to decide which route suits your own priorities now

    [/ QUOTE ]
Heres what ive seen you say
    [ QUOTE ]

scorpion shield has always been the better choice for bots/traps because you can stack it's +def with your FFG and your probots. The benefits of this alone outweighs the minor nuisance of KB that Mu's immobilize prevents. Besides, there's an easy way around that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And thats it.
I don't care about the shield, just the immob specifically to keep large groups of mobs in a burn patch.
Specifically "theres an easy way around that" could you explain?
  16. So, Mu or Mace ?

I can't believe that Mace's Immob doesn't stop knockback; don't all other immobs?

I got a question for ya Ultimus; Do AVs run away from your burn-patch, or do they just sit and fry?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They fry because I web grenade them to stay.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Huh? I thought they had mega-mez-protection? Or does that not count immob?

Heh, i wonder just how good Bots/Traps, specifically your build Ultimus, is for general missions. Even just how fast it can run a paper.

I say this because you basically (from what I assume and understand), neuter AV regen down to 0%, or very low- hence its like a normal mob. And then you have enough def and bodyguard to tank without taking much damage, leaving your bots to take the AVs health down. So perhaps you are specialized for AVs then, and could not do bigger groups as fast.
    Just my thinking.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Big groups go down really fast -- I did a respec the other day (For fun and to help some people) and I was wiping out groups left and right.

    1) Burn Patches are extremely strong, this is no surprise.

    2) Trip Mines deal a TON of damage in groups.

    3) Double proc Poison Gas. This here is like a trip mine in itself. You have two psionic procs in Poison gas which can go off 4 times in a single session. It can keep procing each time for the duration (I think up to 3 procs) -- Its AOE is huge.

If all 4 procs go off it can one shot orange con minions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And how well did it do pre-26?

Uhh, Ultimus, MMs have been owning AVs single handedly for quite sometime now. The only AV I have ever had trouble with on my MM is Positron.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't mean they can't list it and gloat. with nice shiny pictures.
  22. My interpretation.

" During my stay at a previous MMORPG, hackers were dominant. They cheated and schemed, and made the game much worse. The Game Developers tried to cover this fault with a cunning excuse of 'extended maintence', but I knew it was a ploy: they were trying to catch the hackers. Unless this community informs the Game Developers of this issue now, the hackers will take over City of Heroes. The game will be ruined, and no longer avalible for Americans."
  23. Can't edit now :/ But your correct, 120 seconds. I was using an older version when it wasnt the power with a lock on recharge.
