  1. The stench of undeath clings strongly around this one.
  2. Mutant is the most popular origin?? Whoa, I didn't give it enough credit, it seems...

We look forward to seeing you at the shows!

    ...stupid, stupid, stupid Pacific Ocean.

Damn you Pacific Ocean! First the Iron Man movie, and now Comic-Con?! What did I ever do to you?!

    *weeps*
  4. [ QUOTE ]
I'm really looking forward to this and much more so to the day when the powers are spread out much more (With all the inherent AT differences and tweaks, of course).

Power Proliferation is nothing but goodness and I can't believe how negative so many posters have been ever since the list was announced for the first wave coming in I12.

I understand what Psi damage means and I understand the wary perception for PvP, but the negativity is just so ridiculous.
If you think the Devs are blind, I'd suggest just leaving.
If you think they're smart and good at doing their jobs (I know that I do)... stop assuming they're going to mess everything up.

All this nonsense over who gets what right now... Eventually it'll be spread out.

I don't think any defense is needed at all, but just to point something out...
Both Red and Blue sides are getting stuff that I know many people are going to enjoy.
I love the whole, "Besides the VEAT's Villains aren't getting anything".

Yeah, and besides the 10 ton anvil in my suitcase, there's nothing really heavy in it.

    "Lighten up, Francis!"

This player's perspective: "Hey, I get more cool things to use! Thanks!"

Mental note: reserve name for AR/Mental Blaster. It's gonna be just as fun as I'd hoped!

(...unless that name's already taken. Considering how every server has a Rogue Wave, my NinB/EA Stalker had to be named "Freak Wave"... )

    EDIT: [ QUOTE ]
Hmm, Our 'Redside' doesnt' retain enough players. I know, Let's give them a bunch more powersets that won't make them anymore powerful in any conceivable fashion! ...And while we're at it, we'll give Blasters MOTHER [censored] /GODMODE! YEAH!!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ...

Um...you know Dominators are getting Earth, Corruptors and Masterminds are getting Storm Summoning, and Brutes are getting Super Reflexes, right?

1- You get more flies with honey than with vinegar.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Unless they are fruit flies, which experiments have shown prefer red wine vinegar to honey.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll admit it. That made me laugh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bah, fruit flies don't count. Have to scare the stupid things away from my rice and pickled ginger every day. They just can't tell the difference between vinegar and honey.

On topic, I'm glad someone finally coalesced this good advice all into one spot. It remains to be seen whether it will stick with many who need it (signs point to no), but I'm willing to be optimistic.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
From a PvP perspective this is bad.......really bad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's an improvement, then. Before, it was "horrifically screwy." I credit the Storm Summoning.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Also keep in mind that we haven't seen exactly what powers are in each of the "new" sets, or in what order they appear, or numbers...etc. Don't let yourselves be underwhelmed until you test it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bah, you don't really expect people to follow reasonable advice, do you? I thought the whole Psy Blaster debacle proved that being reasonable has no place here.
  8. Wow. It feels kinda lonely being the only happy person around.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
The no offense part was due to the fact that I didnt mean it as an insult. Merely a form of fact and or critique. Again though thanks for your OPINION on a comment. Moving on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And yet, it was insulting.

    [ QUOTE ]
And I think you missed my point, I'm glad other features where put in but thats not the point. My point was that it took way too long to "fix" the Hollows, and while im glad they did im disappointed for it taking so long.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...so you were just letting off steam, then. You could have just pointed out "I really wish this had happened sooner," without all the extra detail that implies "you suck for taking so long."
  10. [ QUOTE ]
On the other hand, when you're sent to a Security Chief and you finish that mission, you do get a "go back to the contact" in the Nav window.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, wait. I think I got that wrong in my post. You get a "go back to contact" message on the other ones only after the hunt mission. Wincott doesn't count because the initial mission is really a roundabout contact introduction disguised as a mission.

Is there anything else like that in the game? I can't recall...
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I'm still hoping that the Devs change this system. Best solution I can think of (and I'll probably post this in Suggestion Forum): Have the first level-5 contact give you a choice of two missions -- visiting Wincott at the Hollows, or visiting the detective in Kings Row.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Considering this is the way all the other contacts do it, it makes sense. I tend to skip every single "Talk to the Security Chief" mission, especially for Boomtown (but not for Steel Canyon, since I'm there so often anyway).
  12. Wow. Love the changes, especially the minor Igneous one. Having the visible spawns be the ones safe to go after would have helped my Claws/SR Scrapper's "Defeat 10 Igneous" mission so much. As would have the hospital in the zone.

Aaron Fletcher: *staggers back to the contact* "Dammit, why Igneous? Why couldn't I fight, I dunno....Sendimentaries or something?"
Talshak: "Good job. Defeating that number of Igneous will go a ways towards controlling their numbers."
Aaron Fletcher: "Yes. Because that's what we need to do. Kill them, one at a time, every %$#@ing 15 minutes! ...hope you get killed by a falling rock, you [censored]."

As for the lessons of aggro control the Hollows taught, sure I learned them. It was even fun to lead my teammates through Eastgate Heights by taking the "drunken squirrel" path. I still think the new version sounds much more fun!
  13. ...

    ...

    ...

    BRILLIANT!

You've actually made me want to roll up a Force Field Defender.

As is, I have a /FF Controller. However, while she has other options available, the perspective of knockback as an especially effective control tactic (as well as the knowledge of how to use my secondary to its greater potential) is a big help.

And, specifically, thanks for the update on Repulsion Bomb. I haven't gotten it, yet, but the knowledge of what it actually does will help a great deal. Overall, thank you!
  14. I didn't read the entire thing, of course (I plan to play through the story arcs, so I paid attention when you mentioned *SPOILER*). Still, I now have enough information to fill in the holes of a character concept, and for that, thanks a lot!

Now, to get Umbramancer up to level 50 so I can roll a Warshade...
  15. Oddly enough, I was about to pick my own Emp/Psi up again. Since I only got her to about level 8 (went on hiatus for, oh... four issues), having an updated guide to turn to for advice (let alone well thought-one like this), is a big help. Thanks a lot!
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Even with the understanding that this whole thing's not meant to be taken seriously, I still have to say that it makes me want to avoid Regen Scrappers. And I play one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Odd. It was almost the same for me. Probably would have been, if I hadn't read the posts of all the /regen scrappers who frowned on it (yours included, obviously).

Meh. Have to admit, I was slightly riled by the archetype opinions... and I'm a D3. So the PvP thing, 1 vs. 1...

    [ QUOTE ]
Fear is a ridiculous and cheap power in the opinion of a Regen. Regens have no resistance from it and can be held easily by it. Many Regens throw away any break frees they receive, because they are not used to being held, and do not see the risk. It ticks a Regen off to be held by stacked fears, and be able to do… nothing. Especially when the opponent cannot kill the held Regen because of his outrageous regeneration rate, but continues to try for multiple minutes (stacking fear the entire time) before giving up and fleeing. Not a good way to make a Regen happy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ...

Give me some time to respec, and I think I'd like that challenge...
  17. [ QUOTE ]
The best satire doesn't advertise, but much like porn and obscenity, we still know it when we see it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but this ain't no "Modest Proposal." More sarcasm and less vitriol, better satire do make. In other words, nah. It's more trolling than satirical.

EDIT: Now, granted, if I had seen that Dark Armor thing, I might have suspected. That is, if the OP didn't keep up the tone in all the later posts...
  18. I've heard talk of being able to put in a macro one "Activate power" command and one "Auto-toggle other power" command. In other words, the macro would make you use, say, Rage, and then make Hasten auto-toggled so it would turn on as soon as the actiavtion time for Rage stopped.

I haven't tested this myself, though. I've just seen it discussed.

EDIT: ?! What the heck?! Huh, the change in Post Title got me...
  19. I've only faced a Night Widow once, so far. It was during a Bloody Bay mission, as either a Dark Defender or a MA/Inv Scrapper (I don't have any villains above 10, yet). Wow, that was a tough fight...

I think they're fine the way they are. Just because the only way I managed to beat the one was by summoning a Shivan (massive Radiation defense debuff, ftw...) doesn't mean I'll quit in frustration.
  20. Gonna take a chance that no one has posted this yet (yeah right...).

THere's a typo in the general Thugs description. "But their lieutenants possess good leadership shills..."

Not sure if that's of any consequence.
  21. Oh great. One less excuse to not take Taunt on my Stone/Stone Tanker...
  22. I like the guide. I didn't know about stealing meteor fragments from others, nor did I know about the uniqueness of the turret spawn timer.

I've managed to complete the mission twice, the first time soloing. I've yet to find very many things more frustrating than soloing in BB with a Dark/Dark Defender... but it was worth it being able to solo Terra Volta hunt missions at level 24.
  23. When, during a lowbie sewer run, the newbies notice the purple glow around the Hellion's head, and just in case, they actually ask what it means!

Not only that, but during the rest of the run, they actively avoid attacking the mobs with that glow!

    I was so proud...
  24. [ QUOTE ]
    1. The "Pets are made from gold" MM. This MM treats his/her pets like they are the most precious thing in the world. Nevermind that they can just be resummoned back up, the MM refuses to put their pets in anything that could be resembled as danger. They will NEVER take the alpha, and will instead insist that the Dominator or Corrupter do it, provided they have no Brute(and if their is a Brute, than they scream at them to tank).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ...

I hate having my pets die. If my pets die, I have to hope they've been alive long enough for the summons to recharge. They have to perform at lower efficiency, since if they've died I'll probably have my hands (and endurance) full making my own contribution to a battle and staying alive. Being distracted to upgrade is a pain...

Besides, from an RP perspective I hate having henchmen die. It means we're all deprived of my Battle Drone's sardonic comments, and it means my eccentric merc MM has fallen down on his job (kinda hard to do with Force Fields, but still).

On the other hand, I can safely say I've never had any of these other problems!
  25. And I find that sad. At this rate I'll probably have enough to write my own guide before an AR/Traps guide goes up. And seeing how I just rolled my first corruptor this morning...
