I had the pleasure of grouping with "takes care of pets" once, and I had no idea she was so young. She's a pro.

Sister Flame, daughter of the City of Heroes community.

So very awesome. It's kind of humbling to realize that we've been getting updates on her life for over three years now. Good heavens.

P.S. She is working on her typing skills, so if you see her say "Go", "Go", "Go" about twenty times, don't worry. It's only 1 of about 100 words she can spell.
Most recent game-related update:

I also discovered that Sister Flame has become a bit of a helper lately. She has been encounting a fair number of new players and when asked a question on Local, Flame answers them politely (if slowly. She's not a good typer or speller).

Love this story! (Kinda makes me wish I had kids,... lol!)

I got my start with reading from comic books (long before the advent of video games) and it warms my heart to hear that a whole new generation is learning in much the same way (albeit in a more technologically savvy and updated fashion).

I've played CoH on and off for years now (bought the first edition when it came out) and I always keep an eye out for players who need a little extra help (or time) knowing that a little nurturing can go a long way for younger players.

The OP and his kids will have some wonderful and fantastic memories having shared time together like this. Great post and I hope you keep adding to it for as long as you and Sister Flame continue to play!

As a former schoolteacher, count me delighted though unsurprised. And why don't the Clickey Clacks make monster cars?

You weren't the teacher I teamed with years ago who said "afk a bit, I have to teach class, one of my students will take over in a few minutes" were you ?

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

Truly one of the best things I have heard/read of when it comes to online games. Keep up the good work Sister Flame. You have the power to teach a lot of people that they may want to rethink how they look at things when it comes to gaming and young ones.

For me it was D&D that teachers and that said was no good for me, but my parents saw that I was reading and learning Mythology. My grades went up and I read more of other kinds of books. But you still hear the D&D is evil from a lot of people.

Anyways keep having fun!!!!

Also all you parent/child teams might want to get together and form a SG. Call it the Young Ones or something like that and just have it be parent and child/ren that can join. Think it would be a wonderful idea.

P.S. Let Arcanaville in the SG that way she can help train and then do all the trials with an "all" minor group. Think that would be a lot of fun for all involved.

And many others..
Dev's With all the Great new content, Please!! dont forget to fix the bugs with the old content. There is a storm a brewing because they are not getting fixed. If its a problem that no one is reporting them? Well Maybe you need to look at your tech support then..

Pointing out that the original post was made in February 2008, and that we haven't heard much from Wyll lately. Sister Flame must be about 10 now, but I see a reflection of her every time I fight the Clicky Clacks or Flambeau.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

" I couldn't get anybody on the team to believe Shaneferno was being run by a four year old. Sure, he sometimes hits rain of fire when the spawn is almost all arrested. Sure, he doesn't always clear out his inspiration tray to make room. Sure, he pops off fire sword circle when he's not in the middle of the bad guys sometimes."

Heh, I'm a few months from 40 and *I* sometimes do all of that still. LOL

Umm NT...
Try about two weeks ago. _Wyll_ Just posted a pic of Sister Flame showing off a Custom Sister Flame figure done by Super Oz. In actually, _Wyll_ does post occasionally about Sister Flame and her goings on w/City.

Thank you for the time...

My children have all grown up on CoH. My now 11 year old son in 6th grade is the fastest and most accurated word processing student in the entire middle school.

Flambeaux? That shorty?

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

so I wonder if Flambeaux isn't based on Sister Flame, at least a little bit. Fire/Fire blaster, acts VERY flighty, and speaks kinda like a kid honestly.

If it is a lil dev nod to our fiery heroine... then kudos devs...

I think you are seeing more of a connection than there is. Powers and some colors aside, there is very little resemblance.

Sister Flame looks at the world with fresh eyes and Does The Right Thing. The Clicky-Clacks, the Disco Trolls and all manner of those who do wrong need to be defeated, and so they are. Sister Flame has the armor of an affectionate family and does not have the "burning" desire "to be loved" that Flambeaux has. Sister Flame IS loved; the issue never arises for her. Why would it??

You will not ever see Sister Flame leading a bank robbery. And if you lead one yourself, you had best pray it is not her that shows up to stop it.

Flambeaux first appeared in issue 7. So... probably not.

Well, Sister Flame thinks Flambeaux is a bit of a "poser" and takes secret delight in trashing her redside with her villain, Takes Care of Pets.

First off, thank you all for checking in on this thread. Sister Flame likes it when I read her what you write.

Second, thanks for many of you teaming with Sister Flame recently. The smile on her face when someone sends her a tell that says "Are you THE Sister Flame? From the boards?" is priceless. She loves teaming up with people, but she does not like to lead... mu5ch like her dad. My little girl has managed to push her toon to level 47 1/2. She is so close to 50 she can taste it and she is all ready making plans to run Trials!

One last thing, thanks to everyone who has been making my youngest girl feel special. She's taken her storm defender from level 12 to 37 in two weeks and actially has four poeple on her global firend list! It is cute to see her sit and chat with her friends in-game. She is very much a creature of habit, so having these global friends that she can team with instantly really makes her happy. At eight years old, she is a much better typer than Sister Flame and ususally does most of the talking for her when the two of them are on a team.

Thanks to the CoX community for making such a freindly environemnt for my daughters to play in.

Regards

Wyll
