Castle, thanks for posting, and most especially for getting some dialogue going on these issues. The PVP community has been hungry for it.

If it didn't cause PVE balance trouble, two (or more!) builds toggleable at will would answer just as nicely, and give players more mileage for the dev effort, as both PVP-only and PVE-only players would use the feature for two builds for their chosen play style. The feature could be a nice cash sink for the economy as well.

Perhaps the most heartening aspect of your post is the large range of items that are either planned or at least possible, as you neither disclose what's up with them nor rule them out.

Oh yeah and please roll back the Acro nerf, KB is far superior to other mezzes when effective and IMO this nerf brings waay more trouble than improvement.

The problem is that when you get stuck in the "ragdoll animation" you cant use break frees so it will still be exploited. The "less break free" suggestion isnt a fix for that issue.

But we never found out if the planned change to TK was to address the ragdoll problem or fix something else (like getting pushed through geometry or players generally annoyed by TK...)

Well, castle brought up the -repel because of the TK bug so Im sure it has something to do with it. That and its a major exploit that a lot of minds take advantage of.

I see a lot of good changes here, but one thing I'm not getting... under what's proposed above, how is a tray full of BF's not an instant "i win" when facing a dom in PVP ?

I was thinking more like arena matches and such.. but yeah in open field conditions like the pvp zones I can see where you'd eventually run out.

but still it seems like pop a few BF's and you've nullified anything a dom can do to keep you from blasting/pummeling in his pretty little mask

A Mag 8 hold every 2 and a half seconds? Mag 10 protection from Hold in a break free. Before the first break free runs out, you can stack enough holds to hold you through 8 or 9 break frees. My mind dom has stacked holds long enough that I have killed the person with the damage from Dominate. Then again, Megalo and Power Boost do that to ya.

But, that does give quite the advantage to bursty damage types like blasters. 2 breaks is a little few for a blaster. But I guess there is no real way to have a perfect balance.... other than to make it a clicky

It operates exactly the same as Hold suppression. Initial Cage will take full effect. Any additional cages will not take effect until the "suppression" period ends.

FWIW, we reverted out the "Not affect players" change to TK, and changed Break Frees to 50% Repel Resist, and 100% resist for Medium and Large inspires.

I was thinking about this today, but is there any chance to remove that resist from break frees and move them to sturdies instead? It would seem to fit with the TP resistance theme as well.

Why do you think the zones are empty? Not because they lack rewards for PvP but because players don't want to PvP.

Yes, having to think is a pain in the [censored].


Dominators don't need mitigation from their secondaries. Even if they did, there's ice (slows), psi (-recharge), and fire and elec (death).

how hard is it to understand that if they added tangible rewards to pvping that you wouldnt be able to get outside of pvp, it would be popular. example: wow. there are tons of casual pvpers because you can get some nice gear from doing the battlegrounds that are often much better than what u can get normally. only reason people dont 'want' to pvp is because they are not given any reason to want to. the people that pvp just do it for the sake of pvping, because its step up from the repetition of pve.

believe me, its a step up from pve. for those who QQ about it being just as repetetive as pve because everyone uses the same powers and bunny hops everywhere... just look at the difference between skill in players. thats where the new challenges come from. in pve there simpy isnt that level of skill needed or difficulty of opponents available to fight.

oh and something to add that im surprised isnt already on putz's list....

siege map has no map when your in it. when you zone in the map just goes dark unlike every other arena map.

i think there was another map that had this too, but my mind is kinda foggy its been a while.

I'm pretty sure that most folks are out there PvE'ing than PvP'ing (we gotta level somehow).

However, by that reasoning, I see more Controllers and Masterminds when I'm out teaming... so they should spend less time fixing Blasters and Corruptors...?

Pisses ya off, don't it?

If it is broken, then fix it. Who cares how many people participate in it, the folks that do have to deal with more than it just being a minority.

Does this mean that now my Bots/FF Force Bubble just got nerfed? or is the game mechanics different with Force Bubble and TK repel? A blaster with aim+bu nuke can just chew a couple of BFs and then walk right up to me and my henchies and blam we all dead or will it be like it is now on live, were the force bubbles repel mitigates that affect, most of the time.

I like PVP, even though I die more often than I win, but it is still fun for me when I need a break from PVE.
