    I have never been able to play a Dominator past level 20. I've tried 4 different sets and the results are he same. Not enough damage to actually hurt stuff in a reasonable amount of time, and not enough control to get away alive.

    With the changes coming to the Dominator sets, I'm ready to try it again. I stand here before your cages, stick in hand. Be gentle, or at least make it quick.

    I know I probably want Earth/Fire or Earth/Elec. The problem is, I've got an Earth Controller and I can't help thinking like a Controller. Because of Earthquake, I don't plan on taking Stone Cages. Salt Crystals are out as well. What lest should I write off? The problen I have with Doms is that I can't seem to eliminate any of the powers from the build. This ends up with basic stuff getting 4 slotted.

    So. I'm not looking for a full build. Nothing with sets or anything like that. I'm just asking what to avoid. I'm planning on Earth/Electricity I think.

    To prepare for your new Dom, play a blaster for a while. It will orient you to the playstyle that you will need to both be sucessful as well as enjoy your upcoming Dominator.

    This is my big concern as well. It truely frightens me, especially after seeing what they did with PvP, that Castle is chasing a change to the perception of Dominators in the player base.

    I think there are some small little changes, like base damage and set tweaks, that should be done...however, beyond that I think the issues with Dominators are intertwined with the entire CoV game they have and are too difficult to resolve. I worry that his attempts to do so will destroy the AT I have enjoyed since beta just so it MIGHT attract a non-Dominator player.

    There is a bit of a difference between using a current post on the same topic you are interested in and bringing up something this old and commenting on the tone of the discussion.

    Back when this was a more relevent post, Dominators where a bit different and this was a huge discovery. Hell, this was pre-IOs.

    The fact that earth is escapable by TP means in any arena match you've got to catch them in quicksand a good 6 times to run them out of the temp for your powers to be useful. So for the first 3+ or so minutes of the match, you'll have nothing but a slow-[censored] pooman and a meh hold. Once you run them out of TPs, its workable, but even then it has no -recharge so..lol? Can be better vs. zone tards but in arena, lol @ earth.

    I was thinking about this today, but is there any chance to remove that resist from break frees and move them to sturdies instead? It would seem to fit with the TP resistance theme as well.

    I'm glad you went with a more modest change, however I still think you need to then look at the End costs of the power if it is not going to be as powerful/more easily negated.

  10. Wow, what people think is fair in PvP is mind boggling sometimes.

    So TK is broken because it pushed you back...supposedly through a bunch of BFs...but the fact that 2 Doms and a Stalker couldn't kill your Sp/Regen Scrapper even though they managed to hold you at times doesn't indicate a completely different and possibly more drastic problem to you?

    And don't say that its has to do with skill, because frankly, the same answer could be leveled at your TK complaints using your logic.

    Frankly, the discussion here about TK and the proposed changes are why PvP will always be such a small minority in this game. Changes like this make it harder and harder to enjoy PvP when you are a casual PvPer...and they are all in favor of the hardcore PvPer. I would call myself a casual PvPer...but the more I see stuff like this the less likely am I to go in to a PvP zone, let alone the arena, for anything but collecting temp powers.

    I want to like PvP in this game, but I don't to have to devote all of my game time to it in order to have fun and be moderately successful...and its constantly on a march toward that end of the spectrum...let alone the divide between hero and villain ATs.

    Hating the proposed TK change right now, not that I PvP too much with my Mind Dom...but will be even less inclined to now.

    Are other aspects of TK going to be adjusted too now? Are you going to look at the endurance costs of the power now, considering that you are proposing a major nerf to it you should also make a major change to its end costs.

    Also, if you go with the 2 inspirations = breaking repel alternative, please use Sturdies instead of Break Frees. A BF is already too much of a one stop answer to countering everything control related, it already stacks too well with the plethora of counters to control in the game too. Make a player have to make a load out decision on which Inspiration to fill up on when going into PvP rather than the simple choice of grabbing a tray full of BFs and laughing at control based toons, specifically Doms.

  14. Lately, I have noticed that the purple bubbly effect of Confuse (from Mind Control) seems to appear and disappear on enemies at random. I don't know if that is due to some issue with my system or the game, regardless there it is.

    Yeah, I guess he lost his heart for the movie and role while gaining something like 30 pounds for the begining and then loosing 50 or 60 for the island scenes. It was also pretty phoned in of him to take on the challenge of setting a record of having the longest period of solo on screen time. Think about it, he had nothing to play off of as an actor except a volleyball....Nice of him to travel all the way to the south pacific to make that phone call too while we are at it.

    Agreed. I don't deny Silverspar's right to not like a certain movie, however to compare Tom Hanks to Larry the Cable Guy just shows bad taste in my opinion.

    Frankly, Silver, if you couldn't feel the pain of the characters at the end of Castaway at the situation in which they found themselves, well then I would suggesting heading to the emergency room and having yourself checked for a pulse.

    However, I think it is important to point out that while CoH has had more free "expansions", it would seem that WoW shipped as a more complete game content wise. Additionally, so far we have yet to see or hear about much that was supposed to be in the originally pay for expansion to CoH, powersets anyone?

    Additionally, again, you could in a way call CoV a paid for expansion, and then the two games would be equal.

    Don't get me wrong, I am posting on the CoH boards because it is the better game, however I just feel like comparing them based on expansions doesn't compare the two games fairly, not that they need to be compared in the first place.

    Er, I can actually say I've said that recently. Trying to stop Diabolique is a PitA without decent, long-lasting immobilizes. I'll also take an Ice/, Fire/, Earth/, or Mind/ controller over any Emp/, Sonic/, Kin/, or Trick Arrow/ (and I happen to like Kin/) when toying with Vahzilok.

    I was commenting on the popularity of Controllers, because the quote from the article about the Statesman Task Force acts as if they are unpopular and have a hard time being included on teams, which in my experience if far from the reality in game (added that in incase it wasn't clear for the crowd that didn't understand my previous sarcasm).

  24. I would like to say that everything looks good except one thing: PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF THE FLYING SPAGETTI MONSTER GIVE THE COT A REST!!!!!

    Its bad enough that we have to do those annoying maps from lvl 10-50 on both sides of the game, please stop adding them into any new content. Use some of the less utilized enemy groups out there for a change.

    I hope it doesn't. I hope that they simply let villains into The Hive to team up with heroes to defeat him. My Dominator would be a valuable member of that team, rather than life support for a Shivan in the LRSF final mission.
