Are you sure you didn't misplace Positron with someone's crazy uncle?

I kid, I kid.

Grats on the move all, looks like you're all happy to be there! I know I would be.

What's up with your name being spelled wrong on your avatar?

[/ QUOTE ]

That was due to a goof on his name-badge at the Meet N Greet. They spelled his real name wrong by leaving off a T at the end of Bennett and spelled pohsyb as pohsby (hence, the spelling in the avatar). Flash doesn't do well on a plastic cover over a name badge, but you can see almost all of the the names, and pohsyb's corrections and his notation at the bottom.

Here is the post with Red Gren's picture links. The avatar is fully explained with these pictures, and of course knowing the "get back in the box" joke from Beta.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I like seeing a modeler with a massive figure collection like that.

Doggie:

Wow. He looks down a few meals... but that skinniness could also indicate a parasitic digestive track infection. Be sure his new owners get him checked out by a vet for worms and the like.

So, things may seem a bit quiet here on the boards, but over here...in the new digs, things are hopping.

Today earmarks the first day at the NCNC Studios and there is an air of excitement as we all unpack and set up in what will become our new home.

[/ QUOTE ]

Good luck, and all the very best for the silly season. Remember, when christening the new place (as it's the perfect time of year to do it) stay away from your PCs - otherwise, the boards will be full of posts about the giant monster spawns that suddenly appear and attack only scrappers and stalkers.

While it may be the first drunk office prank I would actually endorse, the melee amongst us might not

There is nothing wrong with the Breed only with irresponsible owners. You just have to take extreme care with these powerful dogs when interacting with them just in case they are aggressive.

You guys have crappy keyboards I see. You should upgrade.

Good luck with the move!

[/ QUOTE ]

While certainly not as nice as, say, a G15, those little Dell USB keyboards are actually pretty nice.

They're tiny since the bezel conforms to the shape of the keyboard, yet the keyboard itself is still full-sized. They're also very easy to clean. The keys have a nice range of movement and are nicely weighted so if you touch type, you almost never make accidental 'landing' strikes.

While they come standard with most 'business-class' Dell workstation PCs these days. I wouldn't mind buying one separate to use as a 'lug-around' keyboard for configuring headless machines.

Now the Dell machines themselves tend to have some crappy hardware. The on-board audio for the Optiplex line is notoriously flaky.

Simple, elegant, small, quiet, and $10. Never had any problems.

Dell on the other hand, [censored] them for taking over Alienware. Alienware used to rock.

I've checked in on Animal Attack Files for years. From watching that I'd say Pit Bulls account for about 50% of all dog attacks and are much more likely to end in serious injury.

YEP. I just did a quick search for some statistics. It is HIGH.

http://www.dogbitelaw.com/PAGES/statistics.html

pit bulls, Rottweilers, Presa Canarios and their mixes are responsible for 74% of attacks that were included in the study, 68% of the attacks upon children, 82% of the attacks upon adults, 65% of the deaths, and 68% of the maimings. In more than two-thirds of the cases included in the study, the life-threatening or fatal attack was apparently the first known dangerous behavior by the animal in question.

If almost any other dog has a bad moment, someone may get bitten, but will not be maimed for life or killed, and the actuarial risk is accordingly reasonable. If a pit bull terrier or a Rottweiler has a bad moment, often someone is maimed or killed--and that has now created off-the-chart actuarial risk, for which the dogs as well as their victims are paying the price.

Not to dwell too off-topic, but when I win the lotteryone of these keyboards will be mine.... right after I get the "new" laptop.

To bring this back on-topic, maybe one of the dev cubicles should be equipped with a real hardcore rig

EDIT: You can find a demo of how the keyboard works here. Click on the Half-Life or Photoshop links (just above the keyboard image) once the image loads, and you'll see why I want it.

I wonder how it does with heat dissipation. My laptop gets hot now, and it's not surrounded by wood.

The gears-under-glass top is awesome.

Like Jay even more now. I also have a action figure.... problem.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I've seen this quite often in collectors of action figures - the strange inability to open the container. Yet these same people can open much more difficult containers that hold computer equipment in them. Very mysterious.

Thankfully, any six year old child can solve your problem and many can do so without any instruction or special tools. Simply leave one or two of them in Jay's cube and go do lunch. When you come back, at least half of them will be open and ready to play with!

[/ QUOTE ]I bet it does fine with heat, as long as you put it on a table or desk. It has those nice legs that give it airflow underneath, and I bet he left the vents down there.

More pictures coming...

Update on the gorgeous girl pit! I dropped her off at a dog grooming center last night that has many resources for adoption that do not include euthanasia. She has a micro chip but searches resulted in expired numbers and old data. She is very healthy, at least 2 years old and was seemingly well taken care of but lacks basic training so she will need an owner that can give some direct care over time.

As far as aggression, my labs are far more likely to be a problem than this girl, but again that comes down to responsible owners. I have no doubt that if she were to fight that she would be a tanker, she is a full bodied, short, saffy/red nose mix and is very strong; but she thinks she is a lap dog!

I didn't name her or call her anything as I didn't want to confuse her or bond! My dogs were already upset at my interaction with the beautiful girl.

When she is adopted out, the grooming shop promised to call and let me know the details. So I'll keep you posted.
