Discussion: Paragon Times - 70 Years In Office
Lord recluse would like to think that he's the ruler and probably has spread the word about it outside of the Rogue isles.
And wth, since when did Manticore join Recluse?
[ QUOTE ]
One point I have yet to see mention is who the blonde undercover chick was that worked with Manticore. I'm thinking Swan, based off the blonde hair and her links with Manticore in our reality.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cisne is Spanish for Swan.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think the first Paragon Times Article and this one inhabit the same timeline. Wasn't Recluse still in charge of the Rogue Isles in the first one? I think we're dealing with two seperate (maybe two of many?) time lines here.
[/ QUOTE ]
Looking at it, I believe you are right, cause of this quote from the Breakout article [ QUOTE ]
Responsibility for the break out attempt has been laid at the feet of Lord Recluse and Arachnos soldiers from the Rogue Isles.
[/ QUOTE ] Unless the Arachnos soldiers are from the Rogue Isles, but Recluse is not. Doubtful, but still possible.

I thought (and I could be wrong) SPIDER was based out of Italy and was a fascist regime run by Weaver before Recluse took it over.
Edit - CaptainAmazing types faster than I do.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was under the impression that SPIDER was retconned out of existence.
[/ QUOTE ]
Have you read The Web of Arachnos?
[/ QUOTE ]I did, but it got away from me recently. Was int mentioned in there? Because I remember a Red name post from a couple years back, right around th start of CoV saying that SPIDER had been retconned into Arachnos.
Does the book mention that this isn't retcon, but an actual Cannon change over?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's been awhile since I read it but I think Weaver changed the name from Spider to Arachnos when he was was rising to power under the Mussolini era and Stephan later killed Weaver and took Arachnos from him.

Correct. The last article stated "Recluse of the Rogue Isles" while this one take him completely out of the Rogue Isles and into South America. But both mention the Outbreak Plague being out of hand.
Hmm....

I'll wait for it to hit Test. Supposition is nice, but its something of a waste of time until more information is available.
Only one thing is sure, the Devs are evil! and even more so if this dosen't come out soon. I am more excited about this, than Christmas!

This is no alternate dimension. Parallel universes are already in game with Praetorian Earth and the others. This is someone changing events in time, which is altering our present. Time travel is very comic book and isnt in game yet. And I am so psyched!

There's one fact that people are missing. Something from the 45+ patron arcs, and the 15-20 Cap au Diable arcs.
HIGH END VILLAIN PLOT POINTS FOLLOW
Dr. Aeon already has the ability to time travel, he doesn't need help from anyone.
During the final Patron Arc you are diverted temporally and brought before Dr. Aeon from 15 years in the future, one where your villain and Recluse have destroyed the world with your infighting. When you defeat Aeon, he activates a teleporter, mentioning fighting you before you gain power.
Scroll back thirty levels, and we find Dr Echo, and older version of Aeon. Through several missions we track him down, and find him stealing an invention that is used to divert a timer traveler, if his destination is known. When we get to the end, we see Echo talking to someone that looks similar to Aeon. This Aeon is the one from 15 years in the future/ Dr Echo, knowing when he was going to show up, diverts future Aeon, with dire news about his plan, then when your villain shows up he points you to Tarikoss.
When you beat both doctors they both hit temporal teleporters. I'm not sure if you are able to stop Echo or not, it's been a while since I've payed close attention to the arc, but I'm convinced it's future Aeon that is now reported working on the Etoile Isles President 70 years ago.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.

That, plus the fact that the girl mentioned in Manticore's side article as his girlfriend, Lena Elliot, is Swan's real name.

Um...Ok...whatever happened to the rule where you cant be elected president more than twice? I am pretty sure they made this a rule at some point in time.

Good question.
From the article:
[ QUOTE ]
"There is no such thing as the USs 20th Amendment [in the Rogue Isles], limiting a presidents number of terms," said Dr. Jennifer Dornan, socio-political advisor for the Rogue Isles. "So because of Marchands unique situation where he is essentially immortal, he can run for office indefinitely."
[/ QUOTE ]
20th Amendment of the US Constitution on Wikipedia
Then there's the 22nd Amendment, which may be more relevant.
Or maybe it's Alternate Timeline again.
EDIT: Yeah, I know that the Rogue Isles are not technically subject to the Constitution. I'm just wondering what happened to the 20th/22nd switch.

From the history background on the Family:
[ QUOTE ]
The origins of The Family can be traced directly to Paragon City in the 70s, and even more loosely back to the 20s and 30s. In the heyday of organized crime, Paragons underworld was controlled by the Sicilian Families: Blundetto, Bonanno, Dante, Denaro, Garibaldi, Genovese, Gravano, Gualtieri, Liggio, Marcone, Navarra, Troia, and Verandi. A whos who of Italian names originally from Corleone and Capaci, and Palermo Centro and Santa Maria di Gesu. The Prohibition era was a boon to them, as Rhode Island was one of two states not to ratify the 18th Amendment to the Constitution (Prohibition), and 400 miles of Rhode Islands un-policed coastline was a dream for rumrunners who smuggled in good quality liquor from Canada and the Bahamas.
[/ QUOTE ]
If there were no Prohibition, then not only would that take away one of the greatest boons to organized crime, but Rhode Island would not have had a rum running 'business' to give rise to local organized crime, nor the local economy.
Without so much organized crime, Paragon city would be less of a magnet to super powered heroes.

[/ QUOTE ]
This would explain something I saw from some "swine" months ago. Wow, they really do think several months ahead. Color me impressed
And yes, the ouroboros does look Aztec or Mayan, now that we have a South American connection. Perhaps Manit and Recluse are the only ones who know the truth about whatever's happening with reality...

Indeed. The more I think on this, I'm wondering if this goes back further than we are thinking. What if this goes so far back as to eliminate, displace, or alter Nemesis from the time line?

In the Organ Grinder's arc, it's mentioned that SERAPH and the Vice President gives you Omega Level Clearance, but that's about all, besides the occassional corrupt and/or kidnapped Senator.
