Paragon Times: Outbreak Plague Rampant for 4 Years
Maybe an alternate explaination:
Issue 11 will have missions that have in-game consequences if you fail.

Nemesis would do it.

Yeah, but consider the other evidence.
1. The Fifth Column have the longest history of any group in the game of messing around with changing time. Case in point, Ubelmann the Unknown.
2. Reichsmann is from an alternate world where history took a different path.
3. That Ouroboros symbol looks very Nordic.
My guess is that they're bringing back the 'Ubelmann Portal' (which was originally going to be the gate by which you entered Recluse's Victory) both as part of the unfolding storyline and as a means for level 50s to revisit their own personal past, and replay old mission content. Like Flashback, but literal time travel, so you can go back and save that hostage who died under your protection. That sort of thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
That symbol is brass. And looks very Nemesis-like.
Nemesis is a master of doing everything. He's built steam powered robots... without computers. He's built a working immortality path.. from the ground up. He's built working portal technology... with steam power. He's built automatons so sophisticated they can fool a race of PSYCHIC BEINGS. He's so utterly brilliant, that time travel is almost child's play to him.
Why, exactly, would all those names specifically connected to Nemesis show up, yet none that I recall that had any connection to the Column at all?
Doom.
Yep.
This is really doom.
[ QUOTE ]
Indeed. It states clearly that Jenkins was captured, and that no cure was found for the plague. You get the cure in the last mission in Outbreak, and you rescue Jenkins in the last mission in Breakout.
This is Paragon... without _you_.

Hmmm, is this what happens to your server's world after you transfer? Maybe they're trying to guilt-trip us into staying put.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.
I mean the Fifth have been trying to alter history for longer than anyone else.
Meaningless. The 5th per se never tried to alter history; that was the Nazis themselves, in Germany. And they only tried it once.
The most likely suspect is indeed Nemesis, which is boring and trite at this point. An issue named "Oroborus" should have involved the freaking Circle as the star.

Yeah, using the Circle instead, that would be exciting.
Well, ones things for sure. The tutorials are getting a revamp. Which is good, as there is one cop in breakout who has been beaten solidly... almost non stop... for almost 3 years.
That one cop alone will be thankful for any ret-con.

Okay, no one eascaped from the Zig, everyone who got in contact with a Contaminated may already be dead and several contacts have died from Outbreak?
So, this means... no player heroes can be sure if they're infected, no player villains escaped from the Zig, and a mysterious plague is killing off everyone else?
What's going on here?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah just like Stalag 13 where they have not had one prisoner escape. Merely hundreds.

"Users of Outbreak experience a feeling of invincibility and a boost in physical strength, but there is also a corresponding increase in violent tendencies and aggression. A single dose causes physical addiction and will cause a rapid and unstoppable mental degradation resulting in clinical insanity. Doctors have been unable to reverse the loss of memory and personality associated with Outbreak madness."
[/ QUOTE ]
definately dead, fallen used in this way has always meant the person in question is dead.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually I think it's gonna go like this. Every Hero and Villain has come in contact with the infected so in turn the heroes and villains themselves are infected.
"Users of Outbreak experience a feeling of invincibility and a boost in physical strength, but there is also a corresponding increase in violent tendencies and aggression."
This can only mean one thing to me. If the heroes have been infected then they are a threat. The vigil is being held in Atlas tonight. That is where most heroes hang out. In I11 I think what will happen is that the city officials will go after the heroes, turning all heroes into villains and creating a whole new slew of enemies and not only that but the heroes will have to team with villains once again. Not really but it would be cool. say new zone with all new contacts in the city. And if not then it would be a good story line in the comic at least.
Maybe this means that if we get to redo history villains will get real Patron Power Pools and Stalkers could get some lovin?

Actually, it would be funny to start up a server that always has issue 1 on it. With server transfers live if anyone complains about the glory days of CoH you can just respond: "-----> Issue1".
(Disclaimer: the above is just a funny thought. There is no need to take this seriously with cries of "What happens to my IOs?" or "That would be unfair to the villains", etc.)
You, my prophetic, pathetic lackey, are an IDIOT!
Farmer Frost was absolutely livid. He stormed from Sciroccos antechamber as the swordsmans laughter chased him through the torch lit corridors of the ancient Mu temple.
Frost mimicked the dervishs thick accent, My lord, it is a double looped Ouroboros devouring the beginnings of both champion and scoundrel. Whatever!
The image is obviously an infinity symbol indicating the plagues eventual consumption of itself via the transformation of humanity into the Infected. And snakes will be there
because it has a snake head
I guess. Thats obviously what it means.
Farmer Frost turned to his flytrap for an affirmation, but the quivering monstrosity offered no sound other than the buzzing of flies. No matter. Farmer Frost continued to address his pet.
Sciroccos prophets say the timelines are infected; that defining moments in the lives of thousands of heroes and villains will be irrevocably changed by the actions of a few brave souls in the fight to defeat the Outbreak plague.
Turns out Im not supposed to have made billions from plague-weapons deals. Turns out Im not supposed to have defeated Lord Recluse and imposed my will upon the Rogue Isles. Turns out Fate actually left me to rot in the Zig for thirty years, before barely escaping only to then live like some filthy barnacle clinging to a rock in Bloody Freakin Bay, begging for any scraps of infamy tossed my way by the likes of that Arabian nit wit a nit wit who now licks my boots!
Well I refuse! Id sooner die. Anyways, I hate time travel. I refuse to sub--
Farmer Frost found himself gazing into a bowl of grey oatmeal. He sat in a cold, barren cell in the Zigursky Maximum Security Penitentiary. He was wearing orange and looked decidedly less fabulous than he was a mere second before.
A hulking, reptilian prisoner wearing a matching jumpsuit curled dumbbells and winked at him.
They succeeded. They succeeded! No. No. No. This can't be! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Time travel storyline? Ugh.
I hate to say this, but if it isn't done right they're going to screw this game up. Seriously.
Would it be cool to finish off that open story arc that you out-leveled? Yes, but personally I would rather them actually write code that removes contacts in your list once you finished with them rather than having to scroll through 20 useless and FINISHED contacts to find the one that you are looking for. Or code a permanent fix for the constant breaking of people who are on your team (yet not part of your SG or Coalition) not being able to visit your SG base (this gets fixed, then breaks again once a new Issue comes out... it gets tiresome).
"Manipulation of the past" is an iffy storyline at best; overused and hackneyed, coming off as ridiculous and lame at worst. If they can pull this off, whoever wrote it might as well quit their job there at Cryptic and write novels for a living, because they will have done the impossible: making a divergent timeline story actually be GOOD. 99.9% of the time, those kinds of stories end up being total and utter bull droppings.
To be honest, the only things that even interests me now in Issue 11 are the new powersets.
And before you smart-aleck slappycakes start screaming at me "You're screaming DOOOOOOM already and you're not on Test", let's get this straight; I [u]only[u] play CoX in terms of MMOs and I want this to succeed, but this is an EXTREMELY risky storyline to do... I hope that they can pull it off, but the literary track record for such a storyline doesn't bode well for them.

Keep in mind that CoH has quite a few redundant contacts - there are several different ones that offer the same story arcs, as I recall (and you randomly get one of them with any given character). They could just be thinning the herd, so to speak.
I'm curious about the TF-related ones, though (Katie Hannon, Ernesto Hess, and Sara Moore). They have taken out TF contacts before, so there is some precedent for it...
Ya know, I may just be grasping at straws here, but the second article looks like they may be adding in a "breakout event" in Brickstown finally in Issue 11.

1st off, the multiple contacts is (in most cases) a good thing.. usually random who you get unless there's only 1 contact for that level range and origin, but at least it mixes things up a bit each time through.
2nd: iirc, the only TF they took out was Calvin Scott b/c the story about sis psy and AB moved on. However, if we do end up with Flashback and some sort of time-travelling, I severely hope they put Calvin Scott back in.

Is it possible that this is only Cryptic's way of saying that Flashback is operable? As someone pointed out, _you_ are the only thing missing from the equation, so why are we assuming more than a change to the game that is personal for all of us?
After all, I remember a Paragon Times article that said that the Red Caps turned Sally into a horrible, vicious monster. Have you ever seen that happen?

What confuses me is why the paper put them in with the Outbreak victims. In 'the world without you' Katie clearly died from the Red Caps, Ernesto's trechery gets found out by the Council, and Sara Moore is left in the Shadow Shard with a loosed and rampaging Ruladak.
Also, folks need to remember, this isn't the real past we're reading about. It's the wrong past that we're going to have to prevent.
