Our apologies for this difficulty and any problems or losses it may have caused our customers.

To say that everyone on the team is not sorry would be a gross miss-statement. It was a complete error on my part to not include words to that effect in the original post. The bottom line is that the issue that affected the Auction House was preventable and we are working hard and committed to make sure that such doesn't happen again - with Auctions or any other aspect of the service we offer.
Again, our sincere apologies for any difficulties caused to our customers and also our thanks for your understanding, patronage and support.

Thank you. It's nice to know it was just an oversight and not intentional neglect.

Thank you, it actually makes me feel better to sense a bit of contrition. I work in the IT field, and I know that gut wrenching, blood-draining panic of knowing that actions I took and failed to take are causing major head-aches for people for whom I feel nothing but goodwill. I've lost data, released buggy software, and missed deadlines more times than I care to remember. It sucks when I cause it, and it sucks when I have to own up to it. In fact, it usually sucks even more when someone else has to own up to it (as you're doing).
So anyway, I hope I get my stuff back, but I accept the apology either way.
Thank you.
*Respect*
The only thing worse than devs making bad decisions is the hoard of fanboys and bootlickers that keep cheering them on.
Thank you, Lighthouse, Ex Libris, et al, for your continued due diligence on this issue. I personally feel better knowing the community reps are doing a good job, well, representing the community

And the Wings are on us...........
Not only lost but gained since lost. If they roll back, all this stuff I've been doing the past couple days are just "practice".
Will I get what I had when rolled back or what I have know...
Cause that might open another can of worms. Sure I'd like what I had cough exp was lost also. But I have gotten more since, more than what I got so I might not want a roll back unless that's the ONLY way.
Course only doesn't matter does it. Catering to your customers doesn't matter does it. Just find the easy fix and well that's it boys.
Thanks for your ear. Cause you don't seem to read PM's

Ectomy, the roll back already happened. When the Auction Server came back online and the Consignment Markets started working yesterday at apx 2:20 PM Pacific time was when that roll back went in. It should in no way affect other time periods.

To correct this, we are planning on reinserting the lost items from the transaction logs into players inventories.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I'm reading this and the subsequent reminder about inventory limits correctly, then no; they're planning on using the logs from between the Wereworth's crash and the rollback to "apply" the transactions that have happened {buys and sales}; so the buys and sales you did will still happen, just... delayed.
Also, I don't think anyone mentioned any XP in all this - they're not rolling back any characters - the Auction House is apparently on a separate server altogether - but only rolled back the auction transactions which, again, they seem to plan on rolling "forward".

Why respond to a PM when he's already delivered an answer on a forum that all can read?
[ QUOTE ]
As a result of this roll back to an earlier save, Heroes who had used the Consignment Market after that time may have a variety of issues from duped items to lost items. To correct this, we are planning on reinserting the lost items from the transaction logs into players inventories. This includes any lost influence, inspirations, enhancements, salvage and recipes. At the time of this writing we are still testing this, but are confident enough that we can pull it off that Im giving you advance notice of it.
One thing to keep in mind with this reimbursement plan is that characters have a hard limit of 10 enhancements. If you have a character that engaged in a number of enhancement transactions, you would be well advised to keep that characters enhancement inventory clear. We will be giving as much advance notice as possible as to when the reimbursement process will take place.

Lighten up Francis
Edit: beat to the punch by Lighthouse (he did a better job at explaining it anyhow)
Well that's great news Lighthouse.
Any idea about PM I sent you or is it still up in air?
I most say guys the stuff in i9 and what will come is greater than any small bump in the road.
I have found that alot of the non boarders and non testers that I run with are overwhelmed by inventions even after the tutorial.
It always seems that that one guy finds his way in when I try to help out a guy asking questions. Easier to quit the team and drag someone wanting to learn the listen to the other guy saying this is what's wrong with patch.
I'm sorry for all the no thank yous for all the time invites this week,, but I have alot of younger friends that needs help. I will hopefully get these core guys done soon and then we will have some new pieces to buy once we show them.
I'm all for them guys loading up WW with all these goodies. I've raided it myself a couple times. But you could also stop for 20 minutes and help people they are lost. And if not please have patience if someone on your team ask a question cause some of us will answer them.
Well Obsidius the PM was on a similiar matter. So either I blow tonight trying to fix my screw up I admitted it I messed up.
Or see I asked Lighthouse and petitioned for help. I haven't heard anything from either avenue. So maybe he shouldn't respond to someone asking an honest question your right.
They need to keep catering to people who [censored] because they didn't say sorry for a slight bump on a grand road. When from the get I apologized and owned up for my error, even thou it took a 8 year old to point it out LOL.
So I'm sorry that I offended you enough to jab me when I just want some help or info that's all man.
I haven't seen any problems of my own, but my friends have been reporting duplicated items that have been placed in the Consignment Houses, and some losing items or influence/infamy.
It's NP - I just imagine they're probably up to their gills trying to straighten out this whole mess. Sorry for being a bit snarky Everyone who's lost something because of this issue is a little curled around the edges (myself included - 10M Influence lost at the moment, although others have lost more).
We appreciate that you guys are sorry but if this was as you said, preventable, then this is a monumental screw-up on your guys' part.
I mean probably one of the biggest screw ups in the last year in any major MMO I'd say if not the biggest...the entire heroside loses large amounts of rare items and inf...
Conspiracy buffs must be going nuts considering you guys always talked about how too much Inf was floating around then poof now it's not thanks to a roll back. I sincerely wish you luck on dealing with THOSE nut jobs.
Back to seriousness, Sorry doesn't compensate anyone for grinding through TFs over again for a rare recipe just to have it lost because of a Cryptic error. The 4+ hours people lost out of their gaming lives to gain those rare (in costume piece cases all too rare) recipes is unacceptable.
Considering the sheer scale of this screw up maybe adding a single day of gameplay for free to every CoH player's account would make up at least a small bit, sorta gives them the gaming time back even if they don't get the goods and inf they lost back...though in many cases it might have taken several days of grinding through missions an TFs to get what was lost...once again, what was lsot due to your company's error.
It'd be nice if there was some accountability for the time lost to us, influence lost, nerve fraying that we've gone through waiting each day for our items to maybe be returned...but we'll get a "Sorry we've recovered what we could, thats all we can do. Don't forget to renew your subscriptions, bye!" And life will go on, some people may, MAY quit over this. Most of us will continue on, and you guys know that so there's really not THAT much motivation to totally satisfy as many people as possible. So you'll just sorta satisfy a bunch of people maybe half maybe 2/3rds...and billions in Influence and Billions worth of recipes will be lost to the wind.
As long as we're willing to settle for you guys "mostly" fixing things or temporarily fixing things that's all we'll ever get and unfortunately not enough people are willing to push for more than "just enough" to make a difference. As will be evident here and as is already evident in persistent bugs and redeveloping bugs that seem to continue...
Can you tell us this: Do you at least have the ability to see WHO lost something even if you can't tell WHAT was lost?? Could we maybe all be compensated w/ X Influence and X recipe(s)? Something? Anything?
Am I the only one not completely ticked off about this? Sure, I lost some stuff, but if they are going to compensate us, then I'm cool with that. It's a game.
Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

They are going back through transaction logs for the time between the rollback-to time (May 8) and the rollback-at time (May 9). They are going to be replacing items / inf / etc.
Patience.

He wants 50 CENTS?
Oh, I LOL'd, lordy how I LOL'd.
Well this whole thing sucked. I lost influence and salvage. I see that many people are angry, but they need to cool off a bit. Its not like their Not going to try and give everything back. If they were to say " all of you are SOL" then I would understand people getting mad. Its just a game and there are going to be bugs in this new system.
I thinks its nice that the devs are telling us everythig when it changes
It isn't that big of deal unless you lost something you really wanted. Its not that big of deal unless you were waiting to craft 3 IO you need for ghost widow set.
But I agree I can replace them some day. But I was sitting on some wings my son really wanted and.....
I still believe i9 is greatest thing to hit Paragon since Ectomy arrived. I believe its full potential isn't tapped. I believe it will be tweaked and expanded in the future.
I also believe that if you try you can assist and make someones day alittle brighter. So I will try on my end. I just hope that in return they can do they same.

Apology accepted. My only question is ...when is the compensation (insert of <missing stuff name here> happening?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks, NC Soft, for closing my favorite game ever without warning and with plenty of life still left in it, and thus relieving me of the burden of EVER wanting to buy, try or even hear about another game from your company. Will my decision make a dent, or persuade them in anyway, shape or form? Nope, obviously not. Don't care. NC Soft is dead to me. ~ PsyFox
I lost 1.6 million influence from bids I had outstanding. How will this get resolved? What if the bid came through, so I had the items? What if part of it did, so 1 of 2 I was bidding on came in, and I still had 100,000 outstanding?\
I'll go out on a limb here, and say none of it will be resolved, its not resolvable except for the most simple of situations. trying to restore this complex point in time data where there was some kind of bug in the process, isn't gonna happen, at least not for situations like mine.
This isn't a huge deal to me, but it has made me lose my trust in the system. WT_ is up with a bug fix a couple of days after months of pre-live testing, then an immediate clusterf rollback? Rushing code to production = mistake.
What happens next time a hotfix comes out? Shocks through the keyboard?

World of Warcraft made a lot of people mad when, during their transition to Burning Crusade, many people's banks got emptied out. Customer service was extremely sluggish in returning people's items, if they even did so at all. Some people never did get their stuff back.
By contrast, we have a swift apology, and a plan to reimburse every affected character. You can't really ask for much more than that. I'm really not sure what all the doom is about; they screwed up big time, but they're going to make it right. You can't really ask for more than that.
That's for keeping us up to speed, Lighthouse.

If they can make things right, I hope all you righteously indignant complainers come back here and give them a hearty "thanks"...but I have my doubts you will.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sometimes the amount of boot licking here simply amazes me. So they had a problem that caused many of their customers to lose items and influence, and when (and IF) they fix it we are supposed to thank them heartily while they offer no apology of any sort for the error in the first place? This is like me accidentally tripping and jabbing you with my elbow, giving you a black eye. Are you supposed to be "grateful" that I toss you an ice pack without so much as an "I am sorry"?
The only thing worse than devs making bad decisions is the hoard of fanboys and bootlickers that keep cheering them on.
