I personally do the exact same thing. As long as the sweep goes off properly, I can keep a single (non-knock-resistant, of course) target on his *** until he's dead.
-
Thanks for the pointers!
I'd forgotten about the Regenerative Tissue only working permanently in toggles or passives. I moved it over to Integration in place of the EndRdx.
Also a good point on the procs in the purple sets. My preference on the others is to keep them as-is; I'd rather see consistently slightly higher damage than burst damage 20% of the time (though I did also swap the Achilles' Heel proc in).
And I split the difference with MoG - took out a couple of LotGs, and swapped in one recharge and the Steadfast Protection unique.
However, I do like Mako's Bite over Crushing Impact - I'm going for the 9% bonus to damage here. I've got enough global recharge already that DP is permanent with Hasten on, and the extra 15% I'd get from the CI sets would only gain me a second or two on my clickies, and still wouldn't be enough to perma-Hasten.
Again, many thanks! I edited the OP with the revised build. -
So I'm back after a couple-year hiatus, working on my new/old main. Here's what I've worked up; any thoughts would be welcomed!

Any comments to those who felt locked out of the fun?

Stop crying?

See, it's the neverending blatant trollish posts like this that ensure people from freedom and virtue continue being hostile to those of the other servers, ensuring they remain barren wastelands. Some people just can't empathize with others I guess, who just wanted to play their favourite guys and were having troubles with it, I guess
[/ QUOTE ]
All I can say is: I played on Freedom exclusively over my weekend - got my DB/Regen from 23 to 32. I didn't log on earlier than noon Eastern time. I logged off when I was done with a play session - and crashed a couple of times to boot.
And I never had to wait more than five minutes to log on again when I wanted to play.
Even when the server was gray on initial login, a few refreshes, or a trip to the fridge for a Coke, was all it took to bring it back down to red so I could get in. Maybe I was just lucky - every single time. Or maybe, the whole lockout thing was overblown.

I was going to do something like this; glad someone beat me to it
My intent is to use macros and goto_tray, similar to what I do with my Peacebringer and form shifting; it's easy that way to include a 'reset' button on all trays to bring you straight back to tray 1. Haven't looked at doing it with straight binds, though.

when i try to add the compatiblecursors1 in the field it tells me the entry is invalid am i doing something wrong?
[/ QUOTE ]
The flag is
-compatiblecursors 1
The space between "compatiblecursors" and "1" is important, as is the beginning dash.
Kam -
Interesting. Pohsyb apparently does not qualify as a dev according to the tracker.
Kam -
The CohUpdater program does require administrative privileges to run, yes. The workaround I posted can be triggered by a standard account, but you do need to provide administrator credentials to the task in order for the task to fire off CoH with admin creds.
Kam -
Oh, when I titled the post "CoH only", I probably should have said "Co*".
My intent was to indicate that this was a single-program workaround which leaves LUA intact, not a how-to guide for disabling LUA entirely.
Kam -
Yes. When you're creating your action (Actions tab) to run your executable, there's a separate typing entry box to enter command-line switches.
I use -compatibleCursors 1 myself - believe me, I wouldn't be using this workaround if the switches couldn't be added!
Kam -
*nod* Yeah, like I said in my first note: make your own security decisions. It's certainly theoretically possible for malware running as a limited user to trigger this task and own the system through the elevation. However, any malware that triggers this task in order to exploit its elevated privileges would have to know about its existence ahead of time - i.e. be tailored to your system - and, for home machines, that's not really worth worrying over.
Kam -
The new shortcut (to the scheduled task) cannot have its compatibility modes changed. However, you can change the compatibility modes on the actual CoHUpdater executable, and that will stick and be run as such when the scheduled task is fired.

Hi, all. Just posted a new guide up here; it describes how to work around the UAC prompt that pops when running the updater. This is *per-executable*, and not turning off UAC entirely.
HTH,
Kam -
So, if you're reading this, you're probably aware of the UAC credential prompt that pops up every time you run the CoH updater on the Vista OS. You can turn off the prompts entirely, but I've never come across a way to disable, or work around, the prompt for a single process.
Until today.
Note: ONLY do this for programs you truly trust, as you will be entering your administrator credentials for that program's use. We do this explicitly and individually every time we run the updater, so I personally don't feel it's a security hole for me. But you need to make your own call on that.
Steps:
1) Browse to the CoH folder on your computer.
2) Right-click the CoHUpdater executable, and select Properties.
3) Select the Compatibility tab, and ensure the checkbox for "Run this program as an administrator" is checked.
4) Hit Apply, then OK. You're done with this part.
5) Now open up Task Scheduler: Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Task Scheduler.
6) Choose "Create Task" from the right pane.
7) On the General tab:
7a) Give this task a name (here: "CoH LUA workaround").
7b) Make sure the task is running under an administrator account.
7c) Select the radio button for "Run only when user is logged on".
7d) Check the box for "Run with highest privileges".
Note: You will be prompted for your credentials at this point.
8) On the Triggers tab: Clear any triggers that may be set.
9) On the Actions tab: Create a "Start a Program" action, pointing to the CoHUpdater executable.
10) On the Conditions tab: Clear all conditions.
11) On the Settings tab: Check the box for "Allow task to be run on demand", and clear all other settings.
12) Save your new task.
13) Finally, create a new shortcut (right click the desktop, New -> Shortcut) similar to the following:
C:\Windows\System32\schtasks.exe /run /TN "CoH LUA workaround"
You're done. Now, to run CoH, you start that shortcut, instead of your usual shortcut. You'll get a quick on-off flash of a command window, and then the updater will fire up - without prompting you for creds.
If you don't like the command prompt flash, you can set your new shortcut to always run minimized (right click it, select Properties, and change the Run drop-down from "Normal window" to "Minimized").
This is a pain in the *butt* to set up, but it's a one-time deal, after which you don't have to deal with the constant prompting.
HTH,

Other in-game mechanics that are under-utilized:
* clues
* souvenirs
* temp powers
* keys
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you serious? I have about 10 temp powers cluttering up my powers screen just on my most recent, level 21 character. I don't use all that many of them consistently, so I guess I'm a little abnormal, but I think temp powers are pretty heavily utilized as it is.
[/ QUOTE ]
Temp powers are generally utilized as rewards. Where they're rarer (more common recently, though) is as integral, required parts of a mission. Something like in the Statesman TF, where you get a temp power at the end of the third mission which is *required* in order to win the fourth.
I'd love to see an arc that required usable clues (similar to the 'collect this reward!' vet reward buttons) to construct a necessary temp power to defeat the final villain. Or to open a door between you and the final villain. Or that let you *survive* fighting the final villain. Something like that.

First of all, it requires time to confirm that yes, there is a problem. Confirmation other than posters saying "ZOMG I LOST MONIES". I have no doubt that they're working on that. Secondly, even posting that they are looking into it would potentially confirm in the minds of the general public that yes, there is INDEED a problem - somewhat akin to the way they never give out potential dates for patch release, because the "potential" gets dropped along the way.
Shoot, it took 'em the bulk of a day to post on the FIRST problem. Give 'em more than a few hours before you start raking them over the coals. Just because you live on the forums doesn't mean they do.
Kam -
ZOMG. THEY HAVEN'T POSTED IN FOUR WHOLE HOURS?!?!
On a less tongue-in-cheek note - typically, in the real world, businesses require more than four hours to respond to things. I recommend patience before the D0O0Om calls.

Dude, read before you post. This ENTIRE THREAD is about what compensation is coming. From the OP:
[/ QUOTE ]
You should re-read it as we.. please note they used words like hopefully and "planning to" as in they don't know if they even CAN do that. Which is why I was asking if they know for sure that they can atleast see if and who lost what...
[/ QUOTE ]
Answered as well, also in the OP (actually, the very next line after the previous quote):

At the time of this writing we are still testing this, but are confident enough that we can pull it off that Im giving you advance notice of it.

Can you tell us this: Do you at least have the ability to see WHO lost something even if you can't tell WHAT was lost?? Could we maybe all be compensated w/ X Influence and X recipe(s)? Something? Anything?

Dude, read before you post. This ENTIRE THREAD is about what compensation is coming. From the OP:
[ QUOTE ]
As a result of this roll back to an earlier save, Heroes who had used the Consignment Market after that time may have a variety of issues from duped items to lost items. To correct this, we are planning on reinserting the lost items from the transaction logs into players inventories. This includes any lost influence, inspirations, enhancements, salvage and recipes. At the time of this writing we are still testing this, but are confident enough that we can pull it off that Im giving you advance notice of it.
[/ QUOTE ]
They are going back through transaction logs for the time between the rollback-to time (May 8) and the rollback-at time (May 9). They are going to be replacing items / inf / etc.
Patience.

The set bonus is always the same value for a given bonus in a given set, no matter the level of the individual enhancements within the set.

(i guess in THERE world, a year is 18 months long, as the past 4 issues have NOT followed this standard)

Issue 1: 6/30/2004
Issue 2: 9/16/2004
Issue 3: 1/4/2005
Issue 4: 5/4/2005
Issue 5: 8/31/2005
Issue 6: 10/31/2005
Issue 7: 5/6/2006
Issue 8: 11/28/2006
Issue 9: 5/2/2007
The only block of three that didn't hit "three per year" was 6-8, which was 13, not 18, months. And overall, they're still right on "three per year", given that we've just had the three-year anniversary and nine issues within that time.
