You guys almost made me wish I had more recharges in Howling Twilight... Either that your we needed to die more together in big clumps rather than one at a time. Also, somehow, I need to figure out how to get Soul Transfer on a defender. It would have gotten a workout last night!

Well I just tried, by the last mission we had 7 left.

1 tank, 2 blasters, and 4 controllers.

We actually got to the last mission - we took out Aeon somehow.

We were royally owned by the 4 signature villains. We could barely scratch them. A few times we managed to get one down to 1/3 their health - and then they would just starting running around like a super speeder on meth until they regened. (which does not take that long, in a few seconds they can get back up to half life)

Ah yes, be advised ... this is very important.

DO NOT use any power containing an "Avoid" effect on them; ie., anything that signals "leave this area." That includes Freezing Rain, Caltrops, Burn, and any others. Mako, at least, runs like a maniac and afaik cannot effectively be speed-debuffed, so if you drop Freezing Rain on him, by the time he settles down again he'll be half-regenerated.

I've run the States TF twice: one success, one failure. The failure was because we gave up after trying for a half-hour to kill Mako ... as a result of this exact problem. The next time we made sure no Avoid powers were used (having learned our lesson from forum discussion); Mako stayed right on me (the tank) the whole time, and he died in a heap. It makes a huge difference.

I have hope that if the STF has this much positive feedback, they will fix the LRSF as they did Hami. May just be high hopes but I'm liking the outlook so far.

I just did a run on the STF...Not one of the AV's defeated dropped a +3 SO. I really hope that's not how it should be

Just completed my first attempt at this - success.

Our team:

2xfire/kin trollers
Grav/FF troller
2x bubble/? defs
Stone/axe tank
Invul/SS tank
Energy? blaster

Note very little debuffing.

Our issues - The temp item for nuking Aeon dropped on the granite tank, so we had problems keeping him hittable enough of the time, which might have been insurmountable without the 2 kins.

Many of the AVs were dropping nothing at all despite me having space for everything except insps. At least before, they always dropped a 53 SO. I only dropped 4 or 5 enhancements in the whole TF.

We only had problems with Mako and recluse really, Mako's MoG was as awkward as it always is, and took ages to get thru and recluse was just tough.

High spot of the TF - being asked by one of the level 50 participants where I got the custom costume piece from, while I was standing there in granite armor.

Ran it today, and failed. It was sad.

1 Defender (Rad)
2 Controllers (1 Emp, 1 Kin)
1 Tanker (Inv)
1 Scrapper (MA/Regen)
3 Blasters (each one different from the last)

We ate the missions alive, except for Aeon, which of course was because the person with the Anti-Aeon Temp power forgot they had it until half the team died. It didn't help that we had a couple 'miscommunications' and started the fights early until control was gained over the team (i'm talking heavy fisted control).

The Four AVs, we chewed up and spit out one at a time (someone also lead an accidental double aggro away and died so that one of them returned back to the spawn point, while the other stayed with the rest of the team). But when it came to Recluse? That was too tough for us. We couldn't handle him and his purple pets long enough to take out even one of the Towers, so we had to give up.

We attempted a couple different tactics, which all failed for one reason or another.

We tried to lure Lord Recluse to the ship, so that we could try the "human wave" tactic, but he would get about half way, and decide to run back. We tried to split the team so the Tanker and the Emp would hold off Recluse while everyone else jumped a Tower, but the Tanker couldn't take it, the Emp couldn't keep up, and Recluse STILL seemed to want to jump the other half of the team. It was rough, but fun.

My only regret is we didn't take out the Flier. Which is okay, but I know my Badge 'Lady of the Night' will be doing that, if only for the badges (oh I suppose I'll get some rare recipies too). In the end, it was a solidly good attempt for a PUG (seriously, these were people who were just standing around Statesman at the time) and with a 'specialized' team of people, I can see this as being done pretty consistantly.

(do note that by 'specialized', I don't mean "Granite Tanker + Rads and Darks", I mean "people I know with less of a PUG build". Though I won't argue that a Granite wouldn't have helped)

Not a big fan of this school of design ("The powers you normally use will be ineffective here"). It reminds me of the purple triangles and how utterly kludgey they are. The devs rely a lot on this sort of thing for their "big boss" fights and it's one of the reasons I think AVs in general just don't work right (for me).

I ran the STF with a good team and we stalemated on Mako the exact way you describe, FCM. Guess what AT I was playing? Storm defender. :P It's not especially fun to have my best powers actively work against me. I don't mind if they're less effective but Mako just keep buzzing around all over the place. It got pretty dull after awhile. I felt sorry for the melee guys. I could at least take a few potshots at him with my blasts.

The TF up to that point was pretty good, though. Aeon is, as always, a hoot and is one of my favorite characters in the CoH/CoV universe, so I was glad to see him again. The spread of bosses and AVs works fairly well, too.

My criticisms:

- blowing up stuff mayhem-style is fun. Being able to only blow up a bunch of cables is a bit of a letdown, though.
- nice use of scenery from CoV, particularly taking players into the fab in Grandville. I was disappointed that there were no genuinely new maps, however.
- the cutscenes allowed me to follow the story fairly well without having to read the mission text. I like that. Some people may complain about their length (especially Aeon's) but I was okay with it.
- the AV fights in the future Atlas Park felt a little too staged, not "organic".

Still, the pacing is good, the fights are busy (ambushes ahoy!) and overall I enjoyed it and look forward to doing it again.

The Ernesto Hess TF still remains my favorite for overall execution and presentation, though.

I did the tf not too long ago with a full team that dropped to 5(me being the 6th person having to leave to get some dinner.) Don't know if it was successful, but right before I left, the team had gotten down to 1 of those blasted towers and Lord Recluse and his goons.

I did find out something interesting about Silver Mantis, she's into BDSM and enjoys pain!

In this case I suspect it's more the "unintended consequences" school of design, not that that's any greater comfort.

FYI to others, don't bother trying to lure LR away from his towers. They'll buff him no matter where he stands on the map. That problem was fixed about a week ago.

Yeah, we knew this, but we were hoping that a 'constant assault' via Hospital would let us over power him. Totally didn't work though. We also hoped that if we could keep him far enough away from the Towers, we could intercept him if we died, and it would take longer for him to get to the rest of the team who were pounding on the towers.

Totally didn't work though.

And can I get a confermation / defamation on a rumor? Does the Arachnos Flyer Respawn?

Ran this on the euro test for performance reasons and formed a pug of PvP toons consisting of

1 lvl 50 kin/elec defender
1 lvl 47 kin/elec defender
1 lvl 50 emp/dark defender
1 lvl 50 emp/something defender (I forgot)
1 lvl 50 sonic/elec blaster
1 lvl 50 ice/rad
1 lvl 50 ill/rad

and my lvl 50 ice/em tank (without taunt)

Blitzed through it, Dr Aeon was awesome and whupped us a few times till I shouted at whoever picked up the temp to use it. the last mission was pretty easy, beat up the lvl 54 AVs with no issues (GW, Shirocco, Scorp, Mako order) The flyer was laughably easy to kill but we had issues on the towers and the repairers as we were in pvp spec we didnt have the aoe to deal with the repairs fast enough.

So off to BB we went, grabbed the shards and the ice/rad went off to respec into ice patch and we got back to discover the last mission was reset. Doh!!!! Oh well, 8 shivans out, 7 of them with veng and all SBd destroyed the AVs in about 2 minutes, the shivans killed Black Scorpion on their own and then we just ploughed through the rest of it.

My verdict, pretty fun TF and yes the flyer respawns

oh and no AVs dropped anything which isnt funny or fair, no enhance, no inspirations

AVs don't drop SOs automatically anymore.

IOs are now in the game and can be found in the invention table. They enhance better than SOs, except where triple slotting and ED make the difference trivial.

At higher levels, TOs and DOs stop dropping, so, the only enhancement drop will be SOs. If you want +3SOs, fight level 53 bosses.

Story arcs still give an SO as a choice.

AVs that don't end the mission upon defeat no longer drop rewards.

Still here, even after all this time!

Just did the TF, Mako sucks! We had no problem with the other Avs, but Mako kept running and healing back to full. We have pets out and they just stood there :O

Can anyone write up a quick description of the mishes involved in the States TF for people who may not head over to the test server?

1) In the Fab. take out stuff, like a mayhem mission. Then watch for ambush, and take out Arbiter Sands. Arachnos baddies.

2) Going after Aeon. Enter, but end up, through a portal, in RV. 4 AVs spread out the map of AV. Magus Mu'Drakan at Golf, Regent Korol under atlas statue, Shadow Spider at Bravo, and Viridian north of city hall.

3) Run a CoV respec (basically). Same map. approach the repsec door, go through map, kill the tree (JUST like the CoV respec). There's a group fo 8 villains running a respec in there, so watch out.

4) open map of Aeon City in Cap. Many many mobs, several identified "Security Chief?" Need to find the correct one. all the others send ambush. Once the correct one is killed, enter Aeon Corp. Several Floors, 1 AV per floor. Aeon at top floor.

5) never made it there, hopefully others can tell ya.

But at least it's entertaining.

Ran it today with a decent team:

1. Emp/Something Defender
2. Rad/Something Defender
3. Fire/Rad Controller
4. MA/SR scrapper
5. MA/Regen Scrapper
6. DM/DA Scrapper
7. Stone/Stone Tank
8. Something/Something Scrapper

There were a handful of deaths but overall it wasn't too bad. I didn't even pull out my Shivan, although I considered it with when we were fighting the four Lackeys at once. Mako was annoying because he kept running around like crazy, and Black Scorpion was pretty good at two shotting the melee guys, but we ground through them. The Flyer wasn't bad at all, and that hero is my first character to earn the badge. :/

For Recluse himself, we had the tank pull him in a corner and taunt while the rest of the team beat up the towers. One thing I didn't understand is why the repair guys were only minions and were level 45. I was one shotting them with Dragon's Tail (and humerously making them fly in every direction) every time they teleported in, no threat at all.

Recluse himself wasn't a huge problem, although by the end of the fight it was hard to get close enough to actually hit him with all of the Bane Spiders forming a human shield around him.

We actually had a little bit of trouble with the two named bosses in the Respec mission. One of them had a rather nasty endo drain power that did a number on my scrapper. In the future I don't think it will be quite as bad as we will know what to expect.

The Flyer respawns a little too quick I think when you kill it. The pieces from the old flyer aren't even dissolved yet and a new one is flying around.

Already run this in closed testing.

Ran it tonight since test opened from closed. It was totally hard. Did it in closed, and we didn't succeed because of two player drops on the last mission. But it was easy until recluse. Had no problems with the AVs, or Aeon. Two of us had done it before, the tank as a bubbler in open, and me, same toon grav/kin, same from closed.

Tonight, rough rough rough. If someone got the temp power for aeon, i didn't know it. They aggro-ed all the avs at once. Not exactly sure how they did that, quite honestly. Most of us were off in the corner to the right. And people would take turns, aggro-ing a second one, while we would try to pull just one. 100% sure it was team, and their tactics or lack there of. I can not answer why the ice troller went and snow stormed one of the AVs, while we were working on a different one. Bad communication, and very disjointed. Fighting on the boat was dismal. We never dented any of the AV's.

Horrible. Total polar opposite of the closed run.
