Pure speculation here, but perhaps the option to hide the spines all over the body is, at least in that picture, an option.

Wouldn't that be a kind of power customization?

Well, I just tried making a Spines scrapper with the full Samurai outfit on Test, and there are all sorts of spines coming through the armor.

Maybe just maybe they changed that in I9? i'm looking at these pictures and all i'm geting is spines, i see the green spray from the attacks and even impale or throw spines still in a nps's chest. I know people want to hope for a new power set but at this time these pictures dont show anything of the sort.

I hope it's an art/animation change. At least the villain spines are black and sinister, but hero spines are well deserved of the moniker "banana tumors".

It doesn't look like any kind of spine to me, but more like some sort of staff since its a bit rounded on the end. I vote temp power and I am also gonna "imagine" my idea about what it does. In my mind, I see it as some sort of smashing (not piercing) attack like a bo staff or I can picture it doing a low sweep and knocking the opponent off their feet.

If that were the case then what is in his right hand? Perhaps it is a new set coming or a temp power one can craft. If there are going to be any new sets any time soon one would hope for tank primaries as they are severely lacking in comparison to other ATs.

The same type of weapon thing is on some Night Widow's.. there was a post a long time ago showing a Night Widow in ripper animation with 2 blades coming out of her hands like that (but they weren't yellow).

It might be a "weapon/power" not intended for us, similar to say.. rikti swords..
