I understand totally. At the time I created him the Iron Man movie was close to being released. I was pretty excited by the trailers and it wasn't much of a stretch to put together an Asain Iron Man type. Using power armor and the Talsorian blade.
-
Ehh, I'll throw this out there.
I have a Kat/Inv gathering dust at 50 and just today I started thinkung about that combo.
Softcapping with one application of DA and all that.
Maybe? -
Quote:I had another post asking for help on a Claws/SR build, and I hit 50 and slotted a majority of it, however, I'm still lacking the recharge for perma-hasten (which will come once I finish slotting it) and a couple purple sets.
Today I just solo'd Infernal from Maria's first arc. I had to use almost a half tray of greens, which is not a problem for me, but I did it.
My question is... is Infernal a small fry in the AV world? I felt so proud, but I thought I might be over-exaggerating the victory. Any advice or tactics to soloing one to make my playing more efficient?
Way to go!
And no Infernal is not a small fry in my book. Most of the Praetorians are on the easy side compared to the AVs that came later but I don't think Infernal is at all. He's a good solid AV to go against.
If you can take him, there are plenty of AVs out there you can drop. -
I wish you the very best of luck AC.

Two questions, first off, do yo find that with a 136 sec recharge that hasten is effective at keeping the S>SL>S>MG chain going? Second, out of curiousity, why do you have a membrane in hover?/quote]
It's a compromise I'm happy with. I'd like a bit more recharge to keep Hasten's downtime shorter but I don't want to compromise anything else. Saint's been in retirement for a few months though. I should look his build over again and see if I can squeeze some more recharge into it.
As for Hover, that should be an Enzyme in there to help boost it's defensive value and reduce it's endurance cost.
-
I also noticed you didn't take Grant Cover. That power is pretty skipable really but it's a big help against defense debuffers.
The PvP unique will help out to be sure.
Here's Saint's build. Certainly not the only way to build DM/SD but it might give you a few ideas.
Good Luck!

OK, I did some quick math for your attack chain and endurance burn.
Using Arcanatime your attack chain will take 6.728 seconds to complete. Assuming you are planning on MG>S>SL>S. It will cost you 23.32 endurance for one pass or 3.47 eps.
Dark Consumption will come around once every 52 seconds and returns 25 endurance against one target. That's an average of .48 eps so we can subtract that from your burn. 3.47 - .48 = a net loss of 2.99 eps to run your attack chain.
Your recovery gives back 2.46 eps sooooo 2.99 - 2.46 = .53. That's how much eps you will loose to run your attack chain total. You have 110 endurance points in the build so. 110/.53 = 207 seconds or about 3 minutes 45 seconds and you'll be out of gas.
But that's with Dark Consumption only hitting one target. If you are fighting a larger spawn you'll be ok I am sure. -
Looks pretty solid to me Ishtar.
I think that in a sustained fight (i.e. AV) you will have trouble with endurance, particularly if you run Tough. I'd also like to see more healing coming from Siphon Life. Finally I'd move a slot out of Hasten and put it into Active Defense then slot two Membranes in it to help increase the Defense Debuff Resistance.
Looks good overall though. -
Nice work Emu!
Now, your quest begins!
Gotta catch 'em all! -
I have a question about this combo.
I recently leveled a Fire/Rad and, while Ido like him, he isn't exactly what I was looking for. I really debated between Fire/Rad and Fire/Dark at the start. Initially my goal was to solo AVs but I have since shifted a bit towards being a more well rounded PVE player. Typically I enjoy herding groups of minions while hovering then hittin them with Rain>Fire Ball>Fire Breath.
It's looking like /Dark wll be a bit better at this, restricting the movement of the mobs and, well, for all the reasons already stated.
Anyway, so to the point.
Darks tier 9 is Fluffy. Now I have a 50 MM and Fluffy is very desireable for him. Stacking holds and -To Hit etc. BUT the playstyle is very different. I'm wondering how much trouble Fluffy will cause me if my Modus is to use Shadow Fall to sneak close from the air the start herding groups up and corraling them around a corner to get the most mobs in one spot underneath me while I fire off all the AoEs. It seems likely Fluffy will start the fight without me and start immobilizing critters before I get them to their destination.
Anyone have any experience with this? -
Heh, that's a thread unto itself
I agree completely with all the advice given so far on DM/SD. I'll post my build here so you have something to consider as you level. Builds are highly personal though and while I think this is the very best DM/SD I can build others will have a differing opinion. Still, if you click the Scrapper Vids or the Multiple AV link in my sig it will give you some food for thought too.
As far as the cost of puples and the market? Milady's Knight hit it right on the head I think
Quote:It isn't the auction house that's broken, it's the players. The content that players choose to run determine the drops that make it into the game. If you spend all your time in the AE you will never get a purple drop, never get a costume recipe, never get a respec recipe, etc.
But help is coming. The difficulty slider will change all this for me. I will be more than happy to dump the crazy XP for slightly less crazy XP and the chance to get rich PL'ng a toon to 50 with regular missions.
Anyway, here's Saint October's build to give you a starting point.
Good luck!

Nothing wrong with that combo at all Rao.
/Fire is not the most survivable secondary out there but it is fine for regular gameplay. Lot's of extra damage is always good. /Fire falls behind a bit in the high end AV soloer arena but if that's not a concern to you then put your fears aside.
DM/Fire is very fun! -
Quote:Funny how these things go.I once had a 32 inch tv for a monitor about 3 feet away from my face, that was head ache city lol.
You guys remember Sarrate's thread from a few months back, the one asking if defense was out of control in IO sets?
Well, I remember, and much like Bill's post, I remember even quoting Syndrome from The Incredibles,
"And when I'm old and I've had my fun, I'll sell my inventions so that *everyone* can have powers. *Everyone* can be super *reflexes*! And when everyone's super *reflexes*--
[chuckles evilly]
--no one will be.
As that thread progressed I actually relaxed my opinion on this somewhat. Nihilii made some very relevant points I thought, about the other things /SR brought to the table. Ease of softcapping, how many folks really put this much time and money into top end builds versus the actual player base, Defense De-buff Resistance, etc.
But here's my point.
I wanted to build a DM/WP Brute that maximized WP first then added in as much defense as I could get to create the most survivable AV killer I could. I really like my the last build I posted. In fact, I'm still going to go with that.
But I look at Iggy's and Shredder's builds and I think they will work better.
I regen 72hps at 35% defense. They regen 40hps at the softcap. Often I don't have the insight to know just by looking at numbers which, of two options, would perform better in play. I need to try it to know for sure, but I think I'm on the loosing end here and it's a bummer. I do have a few things going for me. I'm sure I'll hold up better against DDR AVs, I've still got Shadow Maul (an under-rated power imo), I didn't take taunt ( I'm going to solo exclusively).
Hopefully this doesn't come across as whiney.
If anyone does make it to 50 with a DM/WP Brute and softcaps him/her be sure to wander over here with a screenshot or a video of your accomplishemnets, I love to watch. -

Hey Masterminds!
I downed my first GM! I haven't tried any others yet but I will.
What an awesome AT.
Technogeist VS.The Ghost of Scrapyard!
Thanks for looking. -
Just a quick update if anyone else is wondering about this choice. I respecced today and the benefits are without a downside. Even my concern about herding multiple AVs was unfounded. I coralled Staes and Ms. Liberty just fine. In fact I would say it was easier with the Scirocco's pool.
