Who was your first AV?
Swan was my first and I still can't walk straight.
Mine was Marauder, simply because I had the mission with him in it. I had started reading about people soloing AV's and I tried it and failed a bunch of times and gave up for a bit to take the time to come back to this forum to really learn and understand what it would take.
I kept that mission on the backburner for some time while I respec'ed my toon's build and bought new IO sets and whatnot.
After a while I started trying to solo Marauder, like I say, just because I still happened to have the mission with him in it. I failed the first ten times or so, but I kept getting close enough to think that I could do it.
Finally, I was just lucky enough to avoid getting hit by him too many times in a row and I took him down.
After a while, Marauder just had to be my first. I could have dropped that mission or beaten it on a lower setting but after getting him down to a sliver of health and still losing a bunch of times, I just wanted revenge, heh.
After that (that was with my Katana/SR) I started trying to solo AV's with my Dark/Willpower, which has been much easier.
Nightstar. What a crazy night that was.
My first was Manticore. I chose him because he was easy to get to by running the solo Ouroboros “Task Force”. Next was Mako, because he was the only one of the rest of AVs in that task force that I was able to beat.
Heh... I have a screen shot from me beating Mako. The part of the chat log that shows amuses me:
Werner: I forget the name. It's the one where you chase Manticore around, then he changes sides, then changes back, and you kill a giant jade spider at the end.
Werner: It has a ton of AVs, so I thought it would be a good one to try.
Friend: Oh ****. Yeah. Well, not unless you're on Heroic.
Werner: I'm on invincible to spawn the AVs.
Friend: ...Yeeeaaah. You won't clear it.
Werner: So far, I've been able to beat Manticore without temp powers or inspirations, but Ghost Widow owned me under the same restrictions.
Werner: OK, giving Black Scorpion a try.
Friend: BS iss well, BS.
Friend: Shouldn't be very hard at all.
Werner: Nope, dead. Ah, well. Looks possible.
Random Person: wanna join my mission team?
You have defeated Mako
Citadel: Thanks, Werner.

Sadly, my first with no inspirations was on my Fire/Kin/Psi and it was Marauder. The First one I vid recorded though (used Insps, accolades, and wedding band) was one of the AV's on the shard TF (the one with the large hazy cave) Because I heard they were the hardest and that no one solo'ed them.
Werner's story is almost identical to mine, only his is funnier.
Manti ended up being my first truly solo AV, and I was able to get through a few of the AVs in the last mish (solo at first then with the hostages' help after I freed a few), then some idiot Hero aggroed Ghost widow while I was fighting someone else and all my "allies" ate it. Best part was, I wasn't intentionally running it on invincible; I just forgot to change my difficulty and was like "meh, I'll just tough it out."

Infernal.
But this was waaaay back in the day when the altar would spawn unlimited demons and Regen still had toggle IH which allowed me to sit there with Weave(base 10% def), cj(base 5%), and tough(base15%) and tank about 4 dozen demons and Infernal while killing the altar. After killing all the demons, it was only a matter of not running out of End. It took about 30 or 40 minutes too with original Claws.
Level 50 is a journey, not a destination.

I think it was DR V I did not even know what an AV was at that time; I knew what perma elude was and I was working on that Had to use insp of course with the stupid disease chewing away at me. After that I do not remember I knew I did Mastero as well with ny dm/da way back when
I mean back then it was common place with IO but then again 4 and 5 slotting damage SO was not punished. After the nerf and then IO's came out I pretty sure it was Marauder but not even 100% sure on that

My first AV done without temps or inspirations was actually a Hero, Aurora Borealis, done on a level 30something Thugs/Dark mastermind back in i8 with an SO build.
On a scrapper it was Countess Crey.
My first was Requiem, from the To Save A Thousand Worlds arc, on my DM/SD. Beat him the same day that toon hit 50.
@Demobot
Also on Steam
My first AV was Baphomet, way back in the day with toggle IH and before Critical was added, much less the Scrapper damage modifier was increased. I still get angry whenever I see him because I remember the 45 minutes fight bringing him down and watching him use Healing Flames making me race to whittled him down as much as I could before he healed again. Gah >.<. Took me 3 minutes to bring him down to 10% the first time and the rest of it to slowly bring him down the rest of the way.
Dr. Vahz could have been my first except that I had a level 42 Blaster friend that told me I shouldn't try and take him out because he had tried and gotten floored. Needless to say, this was also when I found out that Blasters were limp wristed, glass-jawed pansies that never want to get into a challenging fight.
Countess Crey...sometime before IO's. Lots of reds and some purples in a tray...honestly I don't even solo av's now it was a one time deal to see if I could.
I want to say Maurader but I'm not sure, that was a long time ago...

Dark/Shield Build Thread
Back In I5 Hopkins and his room. But I'm guessing people are meaning post ED and with the AV changes. If we're talking scrappers only it was Tyrant. Still the easiest IMO but I chose him cause he was the end of an arc and figured he'd be the best test. I then started the arc and got destroyed by thousands of stacked caltrops
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"
Marauder for me.
For me it was Terra.
She was one of the ones I had never seen on anyone's kill tally, so I tried right after soft-capping Melee. Took three tries but I got it right!
Gratz on the AV kill, as 'Forge said not long ago:
Gotta Catch 'em all!
50's: Heroes: Ozmeth DB/WP; Black Decker DM/Regen; Shado-Strike DM/SR Scrapper (13 AV soloed); Desert-Shock Claws/Elec Scrapper; Shado-Shriek Dark/Son Def
Villains: Bokken Nin/Nin
Current project(s):
With Cat it would be the Synapse version of the Clockwork King, that was with insps and temps, between I6 and I7.
I pretty much focused on the TF AVs gradually reducing the temps to zero, until I found a happy medium of challenge versus tedium.

I managed to solo infernal on my Fire/EM tanker a few years ago, but i'm not gonna lie I ate a tray load of reds before I went in. T'was fun
How foolish of me - I just realised this is on the scrapper section and I posted about my tanker.. Ah well still an achievement.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
Manticore.
I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.
I was going to say Chimera but then I remember that he wasn't my first AV.
Nemesis was
It was around I9 or I10 I don't remember. I was on with my BS/SR still lvling up I really didn't know much about the game at the time because I didn't play much till then(I9 made me like the game a lot more) and I was just running story arcs to lvl and I get to Nemesis not really knowing what an AV is I start fighting him and it is taking a long time I use some reds to up my damage and then I start to take him down faster. He didn't hit me much but I had some greens for the times that he did. I didn't think solo an AV was that big of a deal and though that was normal. Now I used a lot of insp in that fight and the fight took around 20 mins.
For my first AV solo with No insp/No temp power it was Chimera with my Fire/Fire Scrapper.
hmmmm...
Fault Line AV, the guy with a flame thrower, forgot the guys name. This was back in i9. Was fairly new to the game, and with my very first character - Guin a BS/Inv on the mid to high 20's. Looking back at it, that was probably the event that got me hooked on scrappers. It took me numerous tries, countless deaths. titanic full of inspirations and he was 1 level lower... :-) Can't remember how long it took me, but I remember faceplanting, hitting the hosp button, stopping by the contact to fill up on ins then going back at it. Did that a few times before I finally took him down.
As for no inspirations/temp... I'd like to say its Marauder, but I don't really remember...

So about 5 minutes ago I dropped my first AV solo. It was Hro'dotz. My husband asked me, "why Hro'dotz?" and I didn't really have a good reason why. After I thought about it some more I realized his ambushes might be helpful for a DM/SD (they were. The Assault Suit was even kind enough to get right up into melee range.), but mostly....it was because he's big and spiky and would look good lying dead at my feet. Except it turns out he teleports away when you beat him. Doh.
So who was your first? And why did you choose that one? Was it just whoever was available (or easiest to get, in the post-Ouro world)? The easiest one? The hardest one? Eeny meeny miney moe?
