If the event starts on the 18th and the 31st is the last day, then it would last exactly 2 weeks. Coincidence? Perhaps not.

My vote would be from the 10/18 through the 11/6, give the folks w/ kids and travelling and what not time to land get in and get at least a few alts badges and the experience

But that's just one old fart in the wilderness.

I don't think anyone is truly whining (at least i hope not)

I do agree that Friday the 13th would have been a cool day to start it, but I'm happy regardless and double happy because it's likely to run for a few weeks

People complain about anything, I see.

As a tech support type and all-around computer geek, I have to say that deploying major changes on a Friday is a VERY bad idea -- staff taking the afternoon off, normal problems that don't get reported til that night, etc are all very good reasons to avoid late-week or weekend releases.

Besides, if you're superstitious, you won't want to release on a day that is renowned for its association with bad luck. (It is the date on which, originally, the Pope had all of the Knights Templar arrested en masse no matter where they were, all across Europe, although some claim that the superstition did not originate from that event.) The ill-fated "successful failure" Apollo -- you guessed it -- 13 launched at 13:13 hours, too ...

It's always bugged me that Salamanca is refered to as "Croatoa" in all official spots.

The train points you to the mythical spirit world. The map does too.


And "Beldam" is a term that basically means "crone". It's not meant to be "bedlam".

I had an idea. The devs should login with their avatars made to look like standard horror monsters and run around killing all players on the 13th. That would be cool.

On the UK news post, linked above, it says to prepare for a fortnight of tricks, treats and other surprises...

IIRC a fortnight is 2 weeks.

Sometimes the answers are easy.

Halloween's shadow (read: the event duration) will stretch from October 18 until November 1st.

An official email will be sent out the day the event begins, and should include the specific time the event will conclude on the 1st.

[/ QUOTE ] It does, actually; the entire region as a whole is Croatoa (think of it as the entire county or township); the city of Salamanca is within it and is pretty small - just the one strip of buildings.

I made my halloween costume for knight last year thinking the halloween event was comming around agian, but I still have it
