Well, as a Blaster don't forget you'll get Defiance which will allow you to keep attacking using any of the powers that were available to you at level 1 (the first two in your primary and the first in your secondary). Not sure if that'd be of any use to you if you're blapping, but having at least your first two blasts could at least keep you attacking when mezed.
  2. Looks like no new power sets or EATs this issue, but maybe next issue since the story should continue even more then (I think). You can try to make a character on the Test Server and see for yourself. Only way there'd be new sets is if they aren't in the current build, but I think what they announced today is just about all we should expect this issue.
  3. I'm hoping for a Rikti EAT that supports the humans. It could be for Heroes and Villains or possibly just Villains (like, Recluse & Pals conquered a Rikti ship in the Isles and got a bunch of them to join Arachnos). Or, maybe just someone who uses Rikti technology.

First off, this post is *NOT* a precursor of any particular impending change. The topic is strictly informative and for discussion.

I'd like to know about breakpoints for To Hit and Defense and how you, the players, think it should work. I'm not talking about mechanics -- I'm talking about the expectations you have in a fight.

    1) You have the default To Hit value (ie no buffs), your target has no Defense value. How often do you WANT to hit him? Conversely, as the defender, how often do you expect to be missed?
    2) You have the maximum possible To Hit value, and your target has no defense value. How often do you WANT to hit him? Conversely, as the defender, how often do you expect to be missed?
    3) You have the default To Hit value, and your target has the maximum possible defense value. How often do you WANT to hit him? Conversely, as the defender, how often do you expect to be missed?

I think max To-Hit vs max Defense should be equal to max Damage vs max Resistance. Lets say you do 100 damage before buffing and that you have a +100% damage boost from enhancements, so 200 damage. If you are up against a Tanker who is at the damage Resistance cap (90%), you can hit for 20 damage. If you go to 400% damage, the cap for many ATs, you can now do 20 damage. If you have a 500% cap, then 25 damage. Going from your normal attack to cap increases your damage 2-2.5 times as much. Even if you are going up against with a 75% cap, you are still doing the same result, 2-2.5 times as much damage at cap than at the standard. So, if you are going max To-Hit vs max Defense, you should hit 2-2.5 times as often as you would at max Defense vs normal.

So, here is how I would answer the questions:

    1. Hit 50% of the time, be missed 50% of the time.

    2. Hit 90% of the time, be missed 10% of the time.

    3. Hit 10% of the time, be missed 10% of the time.

    4. I'd say hit 20-25% of the time (if possible to have different numbers for like Tankers and Scrappers and others), be missed 75-80% of the time.

This seems rather fair, although it still favors resistance unless the attacker has the To Hit cap and the defender doesn't have any Defense bonus. Perhaps those numbers at the end should just be 20% and 80%.

Yes, I realize that you can increase your damage by Resistance Debuffs, but there are also many more Defense Debuffs and such and this question doesn't concern those issues.

Um, what happens if you are a part of the 50 person raid in 'Hive 2' and everything is going well but then your internet goes out for whatever reason and when you get back online 'Hive 2' is full because some leecher just jumped in and took your spot in the zone? Thats my biggest concern about the small zone population.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    o.O

Some random leecher won't know if your internet went out. And if Hami can be defeated by a smaller group, it would probably be easier to organize a raid. So, in that situation, I'd run in and spawn Hive 3 and start in on a global channel for more raiders.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not exactly, it'd be more like someone hearing how a raid is not too far from completion over the Virtue United or whatever channel and going back and forth at the entrance of the Hive to see whether or not any room opens up.

  7. Very useful. I like the .pdf format.
  8. If the event starts on the 18th and the 31st is the last day, then it would last exactly 2 weeks. Coincidence? Perhaps not.
  9. Wait, does double XP also mean double Influence and Prestige?
  10. I'm so glad it isn't this weekend. I have next weekend totally free. Now I just have to think who I want to level up...
  11. Wouldn't 10 to 10.10 be 1%, not 10%?

Nothing on the sleeve seemed to express in big bold easily detectable words that this wasn't an ok thing to do. The only way I even found out about this was someone in my SG said "Oh when you click the register now button on the CDs window it takes you to the site an says to Upgrade an not Add Game.

I wish they'd printed out a slip warning me to nt Add Game instead of a brochure that I've already seen 3 other times.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, above the code and under giant letters that shout "ATTENTION!" it tells you to read the complete instructions first in some of the largest letters on the CD case. Did you feel that just didn't apply to you?

Topdoc, I'd love to join the SG. I'm rerolling an alt to include sonics, would dark miasma/sonic do?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, only Sonics Primary, Kinetics, or Force Fields.

What if I am only interested in creatng a base for my hero and NOT play CoV in addition to CoH? (I have a life after all, kind of ... can't dedicate my time to more than one, or maybe one-and-a-half, mmorpgs... )

Since CoV isn't truly an expansion in the normal sense, I believe I won't be able to do that unless I agree to pay (the so far hypothetical) addl' fee... I'm cool with that.

Then let me approach this from another angle: are there any plans to publish an actual expansion exclusive to CoH? One that seriously updates CoH and CoH *only*? Or will it be something in the form of a "CoH 2nd Edition" instead with new game engine, skins, etc., instead (I'm thinking hypothetical "far" future here)?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think any update to CoH will be through the expansions we already get every couple of months. We're not even sure if buying CoV is a requirement for building a base yet because CoV hasn't been released yet. We cannot see far into the future, we barely even know what is going on this month: Issue 5 is supposed to go live some time and CoV beta might start.
  15. I'd like to do this. I'll be whatever we seem to need more of and I may even make 2 characters. I have tons of free time.
