I am going to amuse myself endlessly with imagery of Arachnos soldiers on every street corner, intimidating children with their maces into knocking on every single door in the neighborhood until their bags are full.

*from the depths of a suddenly appearing and eerie darkness steps a masked man, wearing midnight colored clothing and glowing white eyes*

"Hello everyone," he says in a bone chilling low voice, "I am the Jaded King, or as my few friends call me, 'The Jaded One', and I am here because I must admit I am fascinated with this ancient holiday you call 'All Hallows Eve'.. I must admit that in intrigues me to my very core." The Jaded King's eyes glow a little more fiercely as he continues, "You see, I am from what you would call a future, alternate world of your own. We nicknamed that world 'Gamma Earth' but you might know it as 'Gamma World'.

I came back with four of my colleagues to change that horrid future, but in that process it seems that we all ended up here, in a totally different and alternate world altogether!" He looks around at all of you and his dark plastisteel armor only seems to drink up more of what little light is left in the room.

"I am intrigued because you see, where I come from, a night like 'Halloween' as you call it, is like everyday living. Fear, struggle for survival, nihilism at its very best. I must admit though, it stirs my blood even more than my usual nights and days of delivering justice to the unjust." Jaded King cracks his knuckles with a most disturbing sound and motion, and his eyes begin to crackle as if a fire of his soul wants to get out of him, "I will be delighted to join you all on this Hallows Eve event, and I want you to know that I intend to bring down whatever evil decides to lurk in the shadows, for they only come into MY territory, and so by doing that...invite their death. I invite you to join me during this event... IF you dare! You can find me at the place that is called
'Infinity'.. let us break some bones and make the unjust cry out in pain and for mercy...." The Jaded King laughs a terrible and disturbingly haunting laugh and then dissapears back to the shadows for whence he came.....

This was my favorite event to date ( trucking about - trick or treating two years ago). I'm so excited, my feathers are molting off from all the spastic glee and I don't even have my I8 wings yet!

The old badges are available as are a couple new ones (For Unseelie and probably Jack in Irons.) Then, of course the is the scavenger hunt for salvage to unlock the 5th costume slot. And you can still get Rocks

HEY EVERYONE!!!!

Yep, it's really me, Gilgamesh.

Just thought I'd drop by and say howdy to those who remember me.

Notice of this year's Halloween event has brought back some memories. I sure wish I was doing the Times for this one--sorta follow-up on my Malleus Mundi stuff with Jackson Turner (long may he live!).

Unfortunately, I'm no longer in the gaming industry and am just a regular gamer like you guys. I'm still writing but for a whole different industry now--high tech stuff for hotels and resorts. It's interesting work and it pays better. More to the point, the company I work for hasn't laid off anyone since they started in 1952.

Okay, gotta run. Y'all take care! Enjoy the event.

As much as I am unhappy with the "lore" aspect of this event, including the badge situation, I AM happy with the overall response to it....

If the excited and happy reactions I see all around the boards aren't enough of a sign that this game needs more events, I don't know what is

They should start it early becouse of a lot of ppl will be using there alt toon and there are 9 fore me I use and not enough time to do this.

I think two weeks of trick-or-treating will be about as much as I can handle. I might not be able to get the extra costume slot for all 27 of my active characters, but I don't want to turn the event into an excessive grind for me either. I'm certainly not going to try to get all the badges for all my characters. It will be fun to see which badges I manage to pick up on the way to getting the costume slots though.

I think Croatoa is the "invading spirit-world/reality", while Salamanca is the actual town. The Croatoan "realm" is encroaching on our reality (and on the town of Salamanca, directly), which is why heroes are called on to stop it. I'd guess that the "true" Croatoa is the spirit-world you go to in several of the missions there, where the sky's yellow and everything's a copy of the "real world" - again, likely a product of the realms beginning to merge.

At the basic level, it's the same as the '04 event - you go around Paragon (or the Rougle Isles) and click on doors. You can either get a Trick or a Treat.

Tricks mean something (pumpkins, ghosties, witches, vampires, or wolves) will pop out and try to take your candy (attack you).

Treat means you get an Inspiration, a temporary power (Rock) or, this year, special salvage that you can trade in for a 5th costume slot.

There are also badges to collect. One for each of the Halloween Beasties (Certain # 'Arrested/beaten' to get the badge and one each for the Giant Monsters of the event, Jack-in Irons and Eochai the pumpkin king.) Jack in Irons badge and Unseelie badges are new this go 'round.
