What will be done during this halloween event?
[/ QUOTE ]
At the basic level, it's the same as the '04 event - you go around Paragon (or the Rougle Isles) and click on doors. You can either get a Trick or a Treat.
Tricks mean something (pumpkins, ghosties, witches, vampires, or wolves) will pop out and try to take your candy (attack you).
Treat means you get an Inspiration, a temporary power (Rock) or, this year, special salvage that you can trade in for a 5th costume slot.
[/ QUOTE ]
There are also badges to collect. One for each of the Halloween Beasties (Certain # 'Arrested/beaten' to get the badge and one each for the Giant Monsters of the event, Jack-in Irons and Eochai the pumpkin king.) Jack in Irons badge and Unseelie badges are new this go 'round. -
[ QUOTE ]
I just hope you guys aren't giving away the badges from the first halloween.
[/ QUOTE ]
The old badges are available as are a couple new ones (For Unseelie and probably Jack in Irons.) Then, of course the is the scavenger hunt for salvage to unlock the 5th costume slot. And you can still get Rocks -
I like the "superhero's kid brother" angle, Super.

Okay..(/e, CracksKnuckles)....
The Black and Silver armored figure strode into the dimly lit, newly finished meeting hall. The Metal ring of his foot falls echoed in the large, unoccupied chamber. His black cape flowed through the air Behind him from the hood that kept his Silver Skull helmet/mask half cast in shadow save for the shining red pulse from the eye sockets. He strode up a short flight of stairs to the raised platform where the large Meeting table waited. He unhesitantly took the chair at the head of the empty table and tapped at the small control panel located there. Flipping back the hood, he removed his Armor's helmet. The shadowed light did little to conceal the hidiously scarred ruin of the left side of his face.
"Voice recognition authentication: Cyberdoom", he said in a low, commanding tone.
"Voice authentication accepted", came a disembodied pleasant female voice. "Computer access granted. Proceed."
The Armored figure rested his elbows on the Table and interlocked his fingers.
"Begin Recording...
My Name is Cyberdoom. You will most likely find this name listed as an alias on most law enforcement, government and criminal organization files between Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. The name they attatch to the alias is one Professor Derick Richardson. The fools fail to realize that Professor Richardson is dead. Killed by longbow, the Sky Raiders and the United States Government. Here, then, is my account of his death...And my birth.
Richardson was a moderate genius whose talents included Robotics, applied physics, computers and advanced weapons design. He worked for the Crey corporation on various "Black Budget" projects for the U.S. Government. The last project he worked on was the design of a robotic infantry unit. His work attracted the attention of the Sky Raiders Mercanary group. The Raiders assaulted his Labs. However, Longbow had been tipped off about the raid and met the mercenaries in force.
During the reulting firefight, Richardson found himself in the crossfire. A longbow officer, attempting to clear his line of fire, shoved Richardson aside and into the side of an experimental battery. A stray spray of fire from a mini-gun caused the battery to explode.
When Richardson awoke, he found himself in the Zigurat infirmery in the company of two Longbow gaurds. His face was bandaged, damage from the explosion and the acid used in the battery, he was told. He was also told that evidence had turned up that he had provided the Sky Raiders with the access codes to the lab and that he was being held on charges of Treason. He protested his innocence...To no avail.
Two weeks passed and he was approached by a fellow inmate who claimed to work for the Sky Raiders and that he had a way out for Richardson if he agreed to work for the Raiders. Faced with the seeming certainty of the treason charges, Richardson agreed, but slipped away from his benifactors as soon as he was out of the Zig.
Richardson made for a wharehouse used by Crey for storing those projects deemed 'not financially feasable'. There he recovered much of his prototypes and designs. There also, he removed his bandages and beheld the ruin of his face for the first time. The full weight of his situation decended upon him all at once. Branded a traitor, hunted, his face all but destroyed...He descended for a time into madness. He built a suit of armour to go with his prototype robot infantry unit and his omni-blaster rifle.
As he lowered the Then golden skull helmet over his head, the last part of the mere mortal man Derick Richardson died and I stood in his place...Cyberdoom was Born."
Cyberdoom glanced at a screen that flickered into life. A young Villainess, Bound Desire, had entered the new headquarters. He smiled as he thought how she was but the first of many.
"End recording", he said abruptly as he replaced the helmet and pulled up the hood. He smiled behind the helmet's grotesque visage and waited patiently.
How'd I do?

Is anyone else having problems with getting DCed constently after one or two missions while playing thugs?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, Everytime I play. for the last 2 weeks or more (Since I started testing thugs. Figured it was part of the low end system lag thing I have on test. -
Okay...Low level (lvl 8) Thug/Poison Mastermind set to Villainous experience: FUN!
Going up against the cops reminded me of a scene from Robocop, Where Murphy confronts the crooks Prior to..."Volunteering" to become Robocop. The bad guys unload their guns on him just chewing the crud out of him before administering the coup de gras.
My minions performed admirably. If they attacked civillians no big loss. I simply had them attack my target to get them back on track. I kept them on aggressive and they did a marvelous job catching ambushes I didn't see and ferreting out the Skull boss who had the key to the Arson Mission.
Didn't bother with Tab toggling through target. Far simpler and quicker to point and click
Got Flam Beaux as a Lt. in the bank mission, took down same with some concentrated ffire and a few red insp. Got the Raptor pack Temp power. Gonna make getting back to "The ear" from the submarine easier by a long shot.
Seems you get a time bonus for the first type of Item destroyed and then it's sort of a random multiple as far as I can tell. The cars were red conned (+3) but went down quick after a poison de-buff. Most everything else conned grey or Green and blowed up good.
Got dumped zoning out of the mission when time expired, but that seems to be par for course these days on the test server.
Love Mayhem missions

Okay, Thug Mastermind set impressions to level 7:
Overall, Very nice so far. Pistols Rock! The cycling through skins thing doesn't bother me at all. Keeps the henchmen fresh...And what badguy doesn't get different henchmen from time to time? Naming switchable flunkies doesn't bother me either. Helps keep track of mine over someone elses (The two so far are: J. Cagney and Sid the Squid)
So far I have no problem with them following me anywhere on mercy or in the instanced maps. Now that they get dual weild with the power up I find that there is little we can't handle white to yellow con and even orange if there aren't too many other members of the mob we go after.
Haven't been able to take them into a MM yet. (Still in Mercy hunting my way to Lvl 8 before venturing to Port Oaks)
Liking th set very much so far and looking forward to getting my Pyro...Think I'll name him BUG (Blow'em Up Good)

i also tried one with my 37 bot/ff, didnt really notice defense scaling or not, since i died a few times (fighting lvl 40's)
got in jail after first death, noticed the door had 2k hp...so i summoned bots and twiddled my thumbs for 2-3 minutes while they killed it. then i promptly got killed by all the guards outside the door
went to jail again (with lots of debt), summoned bots, they started attacking...then my protector bots pushed/shoved their way through the door and started getting hurt pretty bad by the guards out there. I tried healing them and couldnt (aid other), and of course their heal is broken now
then the guards out there killed my prot bots and got aggrod on me, and they started clipping parts of their bodies through the door and attacked me repeatedly. I was able to attack them back, and they killed me (while door was only half dead)
so more debt, click hospital again to go to jail. the clipping thing happened again and i just alt-tabbed until mish failed (was down to 1 minute)
so I didnt get to see much
[/ QUOTE ]
I find going to the jail first and clearing it simplifies getting out of it if necissary later. and there is a time reward for breaking into the Cell level. Kill the cell doors before you need to.

Mayhem Missions first impressions...
GOOD TIMES! VERY COOL! ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!!
Okay, now that that is out of my system....
Ran two Mayhem missions today, the first with a level 8 Rad/rad Corruptor, the second with a 35th lvl bots/FF Mastermind.
1) As others have noted, did not get the promised 20-minutes for the mission. If the 20 minutes is supposed to start right when you get the mission then timer needs to pop up before you zone in to the mission like other timed missions and the doors need to be closer to the contact.
2) Kudos to the devs for reducing the recharge time on the 2nd pet upgrade for masterminds. That one change helps so much in these missions
3) Liking the "lvls" on the inanimate objects. A low level badguy shouldn't expect to be one shotting cars and the like. The lvl 8 corruptor saw cars conning as red and trucks and metal shipping containers as purple and taking more time to kill than the time reward given. This is as it should be, he's only 8th lvl. The lvl 35 MM had everything conning grey save for security doors and vault doors. Again as it should be. By lvl 35 you should be bada**
4)Love the unlockable side missions. Took me a moment in the jewely store on Talos to realize there were Multiple wall safes to plunder AND the vault. Very nice.
5)Using any power that does knockback on citizens is just too much fun!!! Revenge is soooo sweet! 'Nuff said.
6)Time rewards for objects seems to be a bit sporadic. You get rewarded for the first object of a type you kill, but then you don't get another such reward for the same type of object until several other objects of that type have been killed. (Will pay closer attention on the next Mission to see if it is a consistant number.)
7)Pets take way too long to follow through doors on these missions...From 6 to 30 seconds...A long time if you're a lone MM.
8) The Hero at the end of the bank mission, with their attendant entourage, is more than sufficient. If I need a tougher opponent I will up my difficulty slider.
9) Overall an 8 out of ten stars. Well done with just a couple sticking points noticed. The eye candy is fantastic even without the AegisX card, scattered coins, car debris, shattered doors, spent shell casings...etc....

Maybe you could do that as a world event some time, and set the whole of perez on fire

But if Perez was on fire would you really try to put out the fire? -

And to make a point: we don't know who or what will make up the Tuatha De Danann. That giant monster looks a lot like an Irish monster called the Jack-in-the-Green, and the giant himself (who I'm guessing is a Fomorian) looks an awful lot like the mythological Jack-in-Irons.

The Beasty sorta reminds me a little of Rawhead Rex. Just an observation.
