Ok well Here is a bit of Local News.

I just got off the phone with Walmart Division Manager for our area. She was very nice btw, and did a fast research on the product. From Her understanding the game isn't even suspose to be an in Store item. It is only avaliable on Walmart.com.

She is going to look into it further and call me back she has already made the second call back. I going to say if she is right and thats the case then NCSOFT really needs to make sure whats going on and Let us all know.

I am an instant shopper, I go , I buy, I have. If you were planning on having it only available online at Walmart.com, you should have just sold it from your own site here at NCSOFT.

This is already a bad sistuation which now becomes worse with alll the things I keep reading and hearing about creditcard useage policy and code purchasing problems.

Guys we didn't ask for the sandwich, you offered it and then it was unavailable or only available in crumb size, we need to get everyone on the same page or Jack will be answering questions about this at GENCON SOL CAL, and maybe answering them anyway.

The Pocekt D VIP badge is not meant be another TP power; if it weren't interuptable, it could be exploited during combat (PvE and PvP).

And unlike the Jingle Jets, not everyone can have access to the Jump Jets, which is why they don't work like other jet packs, which can be earned by anyone else.

IMHO, I got what I paid for, and am very happy.

I run a mission, TP to PD w/ the VIP card, run another mission, and then I can probably use it again.

On my MM, the Jump Pack + Super Jump makes getting around Sharkshead a whole lot easier (and safer )

On my Wyvern toon, I used the new costume pieces to make him look more like a Wyvern agent. The jump pack helps too (until jet packs or inventions are introduced).

In short, the GvE powers are not meant to supplant standard travel powers or earned temp powers. If everyone could buy travel powers for $10, there would be no need for Travel Power pools.

After all, everything I have read about it here says they intended it to be instore. And unless I have been misreading it, several people have bought it in their local walmarts already.

This can't be correct, or no one anywhere would have found it on shelves in the stores. The only people who would have picked it up in stores would be the people who purchased it at WalMart.com and used the ship-to-store option.

There are two explanations as to why it didn't show up on shelves when it was supposed to: A) NC didn't properly establish in the contract with WalMart the required on-shelf date, and simply assumed that the date they put up at the Co* and PlayNC sites was going to be correct or B) NC DID establish the date, and WalMart simply chose to ignore that part of the contract. If it was A, then someone at NC screwed up, and they need to be more careful in the future. If it was B, then they shouldn't be doing exclusives with WalMart again without strong wording in the contract giving NC a course of action to pursue if WalMart fails to hold up its side of the deal. If this was WalMart's fault, they cost NC a number of box sales, made them look bad, and nullified some advertising NC had put in place.

No matter what actually occured behind the scenes, I'm disappointed in NCSoft. I don't think they should have done an exclusive with WalMart in the first place, but if they felt it was necessary, it should have been planned and coordinated better. I'm not disappointed in WalMart, because it is, after all, WalMart, and my expectations of them were already very low.

Oh I full agree with you. I was just informing everyone what maybe happening since I was speaking to the person in charge of our local Walmarts and this was what I was directly told.

I'm still waiting on the third call back, I figure that one might take sometime as we are dealing with Walmart. But I have not seen it in Palm Beach, or North Broward County. I still think this was poorly excuted, by marketing on the companys part.

I was in my local Walmart on 10/8, and the GvE box was there w/ the other videogames. I bought mine online, though, since I just wanted the in-game items.

I like the costume pieces, and the 2 powers are quite useful. I rolled a stalker, and the jump jet let's me circumvent the tall cliffs in mercy. I rolled a WS and found it very helpful if I mistime a tp jump. It's also great for anyone since it gives you that little bit extra if you miss a jump (especially in the shadow shard).

The pocket d power is less useful for new characters, as it seems to have to actually get to pocket d by normal mens first - it's disabled at first (even after you get out of outbreak).

My only suggestion would be to add a pocket d portal in the starting zones; though it may be intentional that the devs don't want that. It migh talso be useful to simply have the jump pack appear to always have the thrust on when off the ground, as some don't think it is doing anything in level flight, (read: not pressing the spacebar), while that isn't the case...

The pocket D teleport power is disabled until level 3. This is so that you can't teleport out of outbreak or breakout. There are problems with the setup of characters who do that. Early in COV people found you could join new characters to a supergroup, then die in breakout and select the supergroup base to rez at. This was used to bypass breakout but was found to cause issues with the characters who did this.

You'll want to pick up GvsE in stores. Comes with a month of play time ($15 value), the in-game items ($10 value), plus the game DVDs and a couple other paper-based goodies. Subtract the month of play time and in-game items and you're getting CoH added to your account for just $5

Visited 2 Walmarts in the St Kitts region of Ontario... same deal. They didn't have it and had no clue what it was. One of them actually started looking for it in the DVD movie section after being told it was a computer game.

They were presently renovating the electronics sections of both Walmarts as well, so they were almost entirely in shambles.

Partial Update...

Well One of our local Walmarts, (superwally) got 6 in yesterday, so I was also able to get my hardcopy. It is truly sad that even Division Managers for the Local Walmarts don't appear to have a clue. I was also wondering about our overseas friends. I would be truly interested in knowing how that is being handled.

What you get for in-game items are the following:
A complete set of "Justice" costume pieces.
A complete set of "Sinister" costume pieces.
A Pocket D VIP teleport power
A Jump Jet power

Now, if the costumes aren't that appealing to you, that leaves the two powers. The teleport has a long interrupt time, and takes a while to recharge, but it can take you from any zone to Pocket D, which can save you a bit of travel time here and there.

What made it worth it to me was the Jump Jet. This only stays on for a short period of time, but it's pretty handy. It's almost strictly vertical, but it does allow you to keep momentum from any movement you were making before you jump. This can get you up and over many otherwise tricky spots in the game, even if your character only has Sprint. No more begging for teleports to the top of Atlas, for example.

Are those four items worth $9.99 for the in-game item pack? Up to you. The CD also contains an up-to-date (pre-I8) version of the software, which will save you time should you ever need to reinstall, and an up-to-date (post-I8) map.

While the costume pieces are nice, I've found the Jump Pack and Pocket D teleport to be the greatest quality of life improvements ever. The Jump Pack has already saved me tons of tedious backtracking (on SS/pre travel characters) when I fall in a lake, or am blocked by some extremely wide wall, or just need a small leap for a convenient badge. And the Pocket D teleport used wisely is great for circumventing a few zone hops: For instance last night my level 5, after carefully making his way to Croatoa to turn in the salvage, used it to get back to the relative safety of King's Row rather then navigating back across Steel.

And on Virtue, there is the added bonus of the Pocket D teleport getting me the RP hub quicker when I don't feel like missioning...

Definitely worth $10 to me.

I am having trouble finding the computer requirements for GvE, and haven't been able to find them listed in any search I have done. I want to pick it up, but heard a poster say you had to have a DVD drive to set it up? Why would I need that? Do I need it to install both games or for some other reason? Can someone help me out? Thanx in advace.

Update: I just purchased two GVE codes on the same credit card within a 10 minute span, after purchasing a third the day before on the *same* credit card - a Visa, and the only card we own.

Apparently they have removed the ridiculous one card per month restrictions for GVE codes. Halleluiah!
