Quote:Doubt it. It's not a precedent - there's a quite different (paid) planner app already.I think its more because NaziSoft will have it taken down and sue him into oblivion for selling something based on a property they still *cringe* own.
Also lots of disclaimers. -

Hi, sounds like an interesting project! In addition to that, don't know if you could make use of this or not, but see this thread:

Hi, "COH Char Tracker" is available on the App Store now. It's a character tracker and planner utility for COH. It's my attempt to give back to the community for years of memories. It enables you to enter a database of all your characters, their names, powersets, powers, a screenshot, bio, etc. You can email builds, and sort chars by server, archetype, or level. You can view power descriptions and numerical data. It's even Issue 24 compatible. It was basically finished when the NCsoft announcement came, but I decided that there were lots of uses for it regardless, like saving some memories of your builds and costumes. Enjoy.

Hi we're all a bit puzzled why even the devs seem to be so final about all of this. Is there no path to follow to split off from NCsoft, acquire some/all of the IP, buy out some rights, go indie, anything? Even if it's just to keep the servers and billing website going until longer-term plans can be made? Is there a gag order, what's really going on?

See my above post on cause of the crash.

Quote:Here's the solution. I just spent a few days back and forth with Support on this issue. There is a major bug in the Mac NCLauncher that crashes with this exact error message based on where you have the NCLauncher and the COH app(s) installed on your system. THERE CANNOT BE ANY SPACES IN THE PATH, OR THE NCLAUNCHER CRASHES!! Sigh. They are fixing this. Move everything to /Applications, and it will work fine.Has anyone using the new NCSoft Launcher successfully updated to today's patch? I'm getting an error that a "PatchManifest.xml" file can't be loaded.
I'm going to try to run down the error a little more before opening a ticket. Fortunately the workaround for the i20 ATI problem still works--my Test client is still untouched by the Launcher, and it points to Live just fine. -

This makes no sense. Mac users have been able to play COH for a couple years. Intel Macs
can use BootCamp to install any Windows and play COH or anything else on Windows.

Like I'm going to waste my hard drive space and money to install Windows on my Mac in order to play some game, and not be able to do anything else but boot into windows and just play one game... I primarily use Macs, and its one of the reasons I stopped playing many games I used to. I multitask everything, heck my Mac is usually running my TV so i can watch that while playing stuff too, along with many other things (multitasking rules)... its not a machine whose sole purpose is gaming. With a Cider version, I'll probably play CoH a lot more now and not let my account lapse for many months at a time. My current Windows PC can run CoH fine, but I don't plan on ever replacing it, or fixing it if it breaks... my next computer purchase in a year or so will be upgrading my Mac. More than likely, I'll continue to only play games i can run on OSX. (though the new Star Wars MMORPG could tempt me to buy a windows license and use boot camp when it comes out if they don't do a Mac version)

Please read what I was replying to. I'm all for the Mac version of COH, great idea
and I already pre-ordered it. I was replying to the guy that said he had to buy a
PC to play COH even though he wanted a Mac. That part makes no sense. He
could have bought a Mac and had it all in one machine. -

Thats cool. Im glad the Mac users are able to finally get in on the fun. If this announcement had come 6 months earlier I wouldn't have bought a new PC. My main question is this: When will open beta start for the PC players?

I think you're missing the point. Most people who buy Macs do so because they are tired of dealing with Windows. What real sense does it make to just install the OS you wanted to get away from on you're new system. This is for people who don't want to mess with Boot Camp and dual booting. It makes perfect sense if you think about it.

Visited 2 Walmarts in the St Kitts region of Ontario... same deal. They didn't have it and had no clue what it was. One of them actually started looking for it in the DVD movie section after being told it was a computer game.
They were presently renovating the electronics sections of both Walmarts as well, so they were almost entirely in shambles.
I think we can sum up our collective feelings and frustrations in two words: "this sucks"

Has anyone seen GvE box in any WallyMart in Canada?!
Their Canadian site has nothing. At least WallyMarts have invaded
Canada, I wonder how countries who are not cursed with WallyMarts
are supposed to get it? Is the damn box going to be available from
PlayNC so we don't have to endure the horrors of WallyMart? -
