Ick!! Did you see that preview of the book cover? No way was that drawn by a professional, I used to draw things like that when I was 14 with all of the proporitions scewed. I really hope thats either a bad scan of the cover or its a rough draft because that is just embarrasing!
[/ QUOTE ]
Seconded...
I'm a graphic design major, and that cover *hurts* me... On the *inside*.
[/ QUOTE ]
Count me as the third so far. Ya know, when I heard that George Perez was going to do one of the covers for the new TopCow comic, I was excited - until I saw the cover. I really don't mean to impugne his work, but I am just as disappointed with the new novel cover so far as I was then.
[/ QUOTE ]
One, I'd be impressed if I knew George Perez was. Don't enlighten me. I don't care. I'm not a comic book fan. Sci-fi/horror movie/book yes, not comic books, sorry.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll just say this: The devs named Perez Park after him.

Ditto. Here's what I thought when I saw it (in this order):
<ul type="square">[*] That's the cover?[*] What' up with their faces?[*] Why are Posi's arms so huge? Isn't he a blaster anyhow?[*] What are they yelling at? "Get down here Rikti saucer!"?[/list]
[/ QUOTE ]
I think it's for their new book "What if Rob Liefeld was actually allowed to do stuff?"
Ugh, that cover hurts my eyes. As an aside, any chance of them using standard softcover novel card stock for the covers on this one? The first one's cover didn't 'feel' right. It seemed almost cheap.

I thought they were in the middle of summoning Captain Planet, actually. >_>

LOL... Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water made sense, but I'm still wondering WTH "Heart" came from...
Anyhow
Admittedly, I was actually thinking of Adam West on Family Guy when I saw this cover:
"So it's a screaming match you want? OK. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-I'M WINNING-AHHHHHHHHH..."

ROTFLMAO!!! So true.
By the way when is the book coming out....?
The cover looks much better here. Though not perfect, Psyche's stance / posture still looks to have wrong perspective.
Positron is a rad/rad defender (no, he is not a blaster). Manticore is a trick arrow/archery defender. Synapse is electric/electric blaster, I think. Sister Psyche um... mind/forcefield controller, yea... That would actually work pretty well. Plus Statesman the incarnate/tanker.
Answers! Thanks alot!

Man I wish I knew who Perez was just so I could arbitrarily grief you with the knowledge....
Yeah that cover is uhm... ew... But I think I see where they were trying to go with it ><; Not that I think that was a good place to go <,<
But it does have that kind of "really old" (Silver/Golden age) comic book art look... sorta... but yah <x.x> bleh...
I could draw better (though it'd be black and white <,< so I guess they still beat me cause I can't color my work for jack ><
Well.. and it'd be manga <,< But c'mon, we all wanna see a big eyed manticore right? <@_@> (><o o)>--> <-- mantikirby >.>
Wow! They actually got someone I know to write a novel for them.
Robin Laws was an occasional visitor to a P&P-game-industry chatserver where I hang out; I've even played in a Feng Shui session he GM'd. His Feng Shui RPG is absolutely terrific. I think I'm going to make an effort to snag this book.
I'll even make sure not to judge it by its cover!

Umm.. okay, not that I'm in love with the cover or anything, but it's typical comic book art. Drawn by a comic book artist. No, not his best work by a longshot, but the proportions are quite typical for a comic book (and say, for COX). I'm only picking on you Tal because everyone else is quoting your post, but from the small amount of detail available, the characters look fine. Certainly better than any of the Blue King comics or the first 6 Issues of the Dark Horse comic. I'm dissapointed in the poses and expression, but the proportions and detail are perfect examples of comic book heroes.

Robin Laws is a really good game designer-I love Feng Shui, and if you ever get the chance check out his "Robin's Laws of Gaming". Interesting stuff!
You know, it kind of bothers me that this plotline jumps 50 years from the 30's to the 80's. As a huge fan of Silver Age comics, I would love to see a novel or comic storyline set in that timeline. It would be nice if they could create some silver-agish characters that really captured the flavor of that period as well. And if they were smart they might get someone like Neal Adams or Sal Buscema to draw a cover for it (it's sad to realize how few silver age artists are still with us, these two were kind of late silver agers).
