  1. Interesting ideas here. I think the proving factor behind them though will be the success of Marvel Online. Cryptic now has that good history and something with a large fanbase. We'll see what State's can do with it.

Goddamnit. Please don't be so damned smug about that fun thing, when you've missed the mark in so many ways yourself. When you wrote that word up on the board you should have written 'caution: may be subjective' next to it, and used it to remind yourself not to judge your players for pursuing behaviors that you arbitrarily deem not to be fun. You put kill X tasks in the game, and then act surprised when people camp spawners.

UGh. I find it so frustrating when he trots out this 'we're so great' mentality. This game could have been the first *real* game MMO, instead it's become more canned, and more treadmill-like as time goes by.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And yet you are back here on the boards and playing this game. I realize you enjoy throwing fits, but to be honest if the game bothers you that much take another break from it.

Sure, there are things I don't like about CoH, but having tried many MMOs, including recently trying the beta of the one mentioned by the OP, I don't see myself leaving here. For my playstyle and tastes, CoH is still the best I've found.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I have to say that I am a little curious as to what States wrote under 'Fun' on that white board. I know, 'No unlockable costume pieces' and 'Firebase Zulu' was on there.

    *trudge trudge trudge*

Oh, look, there's my objective on the other side of that small hill! I'll just cruise right over. Right over. Hmm. Can't get over the hill. Oh, come on, the hill isn't even waist high, I could hop over. If I can't go over the hill, I'd have to take the loooong way around on the path.

    Sigh.

*trudge trudge trudge* *fight fight fight* *trudge trudge trudge*

    20 minutes later...

Time to go back to CoH!

[/ QUOTE ]cool someone else plays that wonderful semi-mmo where your assasin/whatever, who hops around like a monkey on crack while fighting, cant jump up a simple set of rocks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, look here's my objective, "Kill All." Funny, I thought I did that already. Well, I don't see anybody, but I better double check. Hmm, I've checked every room in the building twice...Oh wait there's a guy stuck in the wall that I can't seem to hit.

    20 minutes later...

Time to go back to that semi-mmo where you're an assassin/whatever.

Just had to chime in because the topic was looking a little one sided. I agree on most of the things said here, but CoH is not without its faults, some of which are shared by these other games.

On the subject of travel powers, I can see how the OP can prefer them to mounts, but I think it's a problem that either are regarded as such a necessity. It's as if what's going on around the player isn't important or dynamic enough to him, and so the journey to the mission needs to be skipped.

Will we be seeing these items as apart of the Veteran Rewards system after I8 launch or as future rewards?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dont see them giving away for free what they're trying to sell for money. Thats not exactly smart marketing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I thought there could be a chance to "reward" people who have been playing for almost 3 years instead of guaging them. It seems like this is the perfect thing to introduce into a rewards system, but you're right, why give something away when you can charge for it?

  6. Well, you know how the saying goes...

If the cover is bad, don't read the book.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Or something like that.

I love the concept of RV... my only Qualm is that it makes it sound like *our* history's Lord Recluse is an underachiever. He couldn't manage to take over Atlas Park, so he's just dialing up an alternate timeline where an obviously more ambitious Lord Recluse pulled it off. I look forward to the opportunity to beat down on him and his cronies

    [/ QUOTE ]

Think of it as a less ambitious Statesman.

Aimed Shot looks very cool and the animation time isn't bad at all. Why can't you replace Blazing Arrow and Ice Arrow's animations with that?

It's all well and good to say "these animations look better," but you're missing the point: no one is playing these powersets.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    zing!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep, your animations don't look too cool when your PuG laughs at you for picking the archery/arrow set.
  9. [ QUOTE ]

So when will you be announcing that all +DEF powers have been cut in half?
We've only reduced one power, since it was a kluge fix to the problem that is no longer necessary.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...And that power is? C'mon you can't just leave us guessing here.

You know, I'm tired of the whole gaming trend of losing progression. A player should never have to do something over that they have accomplished. The challenge should be getting the metorites not getting them before you DC or before the server resets. I don't have a whole lot of experience with Bloody Bay, but what you guys describe doesn't sound fun just frustrating.

    [/ QUOTE ]
These missions work alomst the same as every mission, if you leave the game for any reason, the mission needs to be redone, from the start. This should not be a suprise, since all the CoH missions have worked this way from day One.

The only thing that is new is that if you zone out of the PvP area, the mission also restarts. Its not a big problem, just know that you need to have enough time to do the mission or you will have to start over. Heck the missions are repeatable and the rewards are pretty cool so there shouldn't be a problem.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well I tried the meteor mission, and I have to say that it was very do-able in one sitting. I was thinking that maybe a good solution would be to have a warning window come up when you choose to zone and have accepted that zone's mission.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Personally not a fan of this. This just makes it annoying and un-fun to do these two missions. I coul see if say you logged that character out for 3 or 4 hours or weren't in the PvP zone for that amount of time.

But its just lame to get 5 out of 6 meteorites then hit a lag D/C or mapserver and come back just to have to do it all over again. Same with Warburg.

This is just another horribly planned thing involving the PvP zones. But since it's working "as intended" theres a good chance they'll never change it because for the most part we go on yelling while they ignore us

    City of Neutrals!

All I know is that my gut says maybe.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
After I5, some people were saying the same thing..."the game is a ghost town"...to which my reply was, "but we're gaining customers..." Naturally, my reply was dismissed.

And yet then good ole' SirBruce posted his MMP numbers - and City of Heroes was shown gaining subscribers. Odd, isn't it?

    ;-)

    [/ QUOTE ]

That doesn't mean people are playing. (Not saying they aren't, just sayin')

I wonder if ol' Emmert will actually be in front of the computer or if Statesman will just be an NPC. WOW that would be cool to open unlimited bottles of kick butt on the lead designer of CoH.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You'll have your chance - I'll be playing the one and only Statesman!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are we going to have a mission to deliver a Nerf Bat to Zeb to help turn the tide of the Strike? :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

You better watch out States, don't bring nerf to a superpower fight.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
OK - here's the most likely outcome...

If you own both games, you get all options - the new CoV sets will be accessible for your heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Please, PLEASE, do this! I know you guys want the villains to look different from the heroes, but the decision should be left up to the player on what their toon looks like. If the player wants a hero that wears a pirate outfit, big friginÂ’ deal, and the more options the better. No more forced diversification please.
  16. This is the coolest thing I've seen...ever. One of these days I'll have to make a trip out there and see her.
  17. Why? I want a reason. I swear you are the laziest group of devs I've played for.
  18. I got some screenshots on my sig. I took some Babbage pics this week and they turned out pretty good.
