UnOfficial Cathedral of Pain Feedback
I think its a little cheeky to lock the other thread without so much a post by a red name, its been read, locked and ignored, way to go....... awesome.......
At least this is still here.
But Im pretty sure it's just an oversight. Seems safe enough to call the CoP dead in the water now.
...along with items of power, base raids, base defenses having any actual purpose, etc. It just seems so silly that all these things are just waiting on one final piece of the puzzle, and they won't even mention it for months on end. I feel pretty bad for all the people who spend time, effort, and prestige getting their bases "raid ready" and such. Heck, I feel bad for all the developers who worked on other portions of all this only to have it made useless by the lack of a working Cathedral of Pain trial. Bleh.
I could not agree more... as you can see by my signature....
K, stupid question. Is there a date or some type of time window when CoP will start up again? I just readied my base for it, only to find out I can't do the Trial.

Don't count on it coming to live servers before I10 comes out...if ever.
I tried this trial once before it was pulled and it was the most enjoyable event I've had in coh/cov. I truly hope the devs do not abandon this, and re-release it or create something similar to it for sg's.

This is odd, because it really didn't come across as 'that' cool.
A little laggy and some nice group fights, but I think they need to create some NPC group synergies for the end fight, IMO.
Still here, even after all this time!

[/ QUOTE ]I think what it needs most is a scale function. That way smaller SGs can participate as well.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the fact almost our whole sg teamed up to tackle a huge task with a potentially great reward the whole sg would share (item of power). Obviously there were some bugs (apparently one massive one since it was pulled....), but it was still a very cool experience and I'd love to do it again, or at least have something similar available.
I think its pretty lame that the devs list it as a feature, yet they havent fixed it after a couple of major updates. Its even worse that they dont even respond to questions about it.

I tried it on test with my SG at the time. We failed but had a awesome time doing it. Lets hope we can get an ETA, and update or something besides silence on this issue.
Devs pretty please!!!!!!
Wasnt this one of the big sells for even having a base? The idea was SG members would get a buff of some sort from having one of those IOPs. Im sure it is somewhere in the bowels of the forums, but I wonder what is stopping the implimentation?

Time and a fairly problematic exploit last I heard.

Well, and conscious choice at Cryptic to prioritize other things ahead of fixing one of the advertised selling points of City of Villains.

what was the exploit? curious...most likely it will be corrected once it is live again... that is if its ever brought back.

As best as I could tell from available information, there was some xp-generating exploit that the CoP allowed that came from the standard way mission rewards were handed out. It might have been similar to the PL exploit, where unsidekicking at the end of a PvP mission would see your character earn some pretty large xp due to lvl differences (eg lvl 30s could get lvl 50 xp rewards) that saw PvP mission rewards nerfed for a while.
So think it is time to go ahead and call the CoP yet another dev failure?

I agree... there are two things that I wanted to see in this game that never were implemented or just huge problems.
This COP trial was one
Faultline Trial was another.... it never was in the game but it was documented in the org. COH prima guide. It sound so cool.

Its been a failure for long time. Statesman more or less admitted as much quite some time ago.
Of course, that admission hasn't been followed by the delivery of a working version of the CoP in the intervening months, so its lost a lot of its luster.

What I heard was similar/related to that. While anyone in your SG was running the CoP trial it would somehow disrupt the ability of anyone else in the SG to have their missions complete properly. The main net effect was something like if you had a 'Fed-Ex' mission to Azuria in AP you could keep clicking on Azuria non-stop and keep getting the mission XP complete bonus over and over. You could probably click your way from level 1 to 50 in a matter of minutes.
Whatever the exact nature of the exploit it seems incredible that the Devs couldn't have figured out -some- kind of fix or workaround to that by now. Even if they had to do a major redesign or scale back of functionality it seems that could have been done by now.
I honestly believe at this point the Devs should scrap the whole CoP/IoP concept and salvage what bits and pieces of it they can for content that could actually work properly. Don't get me wrong as I have said before on this topic I would have enjoyed playing with it as it was originally envisioned. But enough is enough.
We know the Devs failed.
The Devs know they failed.
It happens.
The only thing making this worse now is that they are avoiding officially owning up to it and moving forward.

Supergroup bases and everthing about them are the biggest pile of crap and a devastating mistake. All they provide is a means to remove influence from your character and a teleporter. They are not even a feature that most people can even use because lets just do a count of the number of players vs the number of (active) Supergroups. Basically a supergroup is a feature for 1 person the supergroup leader and a penalty for everyone else. This is especially apparent now that IO's exist, thus people have need of their money even more. If every player had a individual customizable space and storage inside a supergroup than I would retract some of my comments. For the person who is going to respond like a baby, "I LOVE MY LEADERS BASE WAH" don't. Just because you personally like to pay for other people to have functionality that you yourself don't have is wrong whether you like it or not.
Now in a Positive... Supergroup and Coalition chatting is nice.
Weird...with the inventions of IOs I've had a ton more money and actually feel better about running around in SG mode more often...
To me they seem to be nothing more than a place to use the /e sit emote. Or a short cut between zones.

*waits for them to lock my thread also*
Hopefully CoP does return. It was doing well, unless it had to go on the backburner to fix some things but had to wait.
