Badge Questions

I posted this on the player's questions forum, but figured i'd get a faster more accurate answer here.

For the SG healing badges, does a player that already has max health get credit towards a healing badge for healing himself? Or for that matter does he get credit for healing himself at all?

[/ QUOTE ]

Healing badges have always been "heal another person for damage they actually needed healed". So healing yourself wouldn't work, nor would healing anyone who is full health.

[/ QUOTE ]
I thought the SG healing badge was for base healing not player healing, meaning that it's for the amount of healing made by the infirmary not the players. I already have my first healing badge and close to the second one and not even halfway on the SG badge (unles the heal number is ridiculously high )

You have to have killed him recently to have gotten the badge with the latest patch. Kill him again in order to get it.

What does this tell us? The risk/reward is ALREADY out of whack for most Giant Monsters, and now the developers are making them HARDER?!?!?

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, they're making them harder, which means they'll have an increased reward. Right now there's no incentive to fight a Giant Monster if you already have the badge. Since the novelty has worn off of the Hero monsters, it's hard to find a team willing to risk the debt.

I think the Giant Monster change is long overdue. They made AVs worth the risk, and now they'll do the same for GMs.

Basically, I just love guaranteed sources of level 53 SOs

Was the "45-50" a quote from a redname, or was that an assumption for the new zone? I keep hearing all kinds of speculation, but no hard data.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, RV is level 40 to 50. This cold has my head all fogged up.

[/ QUOTE ]

too bad we wont be 50 when we get in it...as youll notice he wont actually tell you what lvl you will be..but unlike them im saying you wont be 50

[/ QUOTE ]

I can almost guarantee 100% that your lvl will be raised to 50 regardless of your true level (clvl)

[/ QUOTE ]

Question, do you still get XP at clvl 50? I mean we have no way to test that theory at the moment since there are no lvl 51's to SK to. Just curious not trying to be snarky or anything.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes getting sked or whatever to lvl 50 you will still get xp. As a lvl 50 you technically still get xp but the only time you notice it is if you have debt to work off, but being sked to lvl 50 will work just like getting sked to any other lvl.

If you're under level 50, it'll work the same way it does in the other PvP zones. In Bloody Bay, if you're level 15, you still get XP for defeating even level enemies appropriate for a level 15 character.

RV will definitely raise you up to level 50. Warburg only puts you at level 38 because that's the last level where you get a new power below 40. They could just round everyone off to level 40, but I think that was a conscious decision so that the Malta in there would be scary to players.

Still looking for some direction on this. I sent Petition in game, and the best they could tell me was I did not qualify for the badge (1st one), I know that. I proceded to ask what is the criteria, and was told, "We can not tell you that" (or something close to those words)

Please, can a Redname or someone give us the lowdown on the requirments on how the Mentoring badges can be obtained.

Thank you for your response in this matter.

[/ QUOTE ]

I do believe that all you have to do to get a mentor badge is have SK (or LK) for a period time. I am uncertain if there is a seperate badge for exemplaring\malfactoring.

We have 7 or 8 members on the Saturday night game

We have around 5 members on the family team, when we need to have more people to start a TF, we ask for people to help out to start and make it clear we only need them to start it so they can go on and do whatever they want afterward.

So far the Family team has done:

Positron (a second time when leveling a new player)
Synapse (a second time when leveling a new player)
Sister Psyche
Citadel
Moonfire
Hess
the Croatoa TF (forget her name)
and we are now working on Manticore
and I believe we did Cavern of Transcendence as well (had help from alts of the Saturday game though, we'd outleveled Hollows before it came out)

The other team has done all the above plus Manticore and Nemesis

-----

And, yes, every character on both teams can call on Amy for help, not that we remember or even need that most of the time

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, while I am happy for you and all, all I wanted to know if we had a timeframe on when the Shadowshard TF's were getting trimmed to a reasonable length, not a debate on if they were possible. It's also possible to me to hold my breath, flap my arms REALLY hard and eventualy get to the moon - but its not something I'd look foward to doing.

I'd much rather not sink 12 hours into a TF if the shorter version is right around the corner.

2) There are no progress bars for the influence/infamy badges. Doc Buzzsaw is unlocked via the 1st infamy badge which is very tough to attain prior to level 30. If you don't get the badge by 30 you miss out on content. My suggestion is either change the requirement to unlock Doc Buzzsaw or give the influence/infamy badges a meter.

[/ QUOTE ]

The placeholder for that badge at least needs to say "Earn this badge by gaining Infamy". It says "???" and the second one references Infamy after you get Bling. It would be almost impossible for an uniformed player to know Doc's clue points to a badge if there's no indication of an Infamy badge.

Though I still don't think Doc should unlock with that badge. It's either automatic, or darn-near-unattainable-in-time. Let us *earn* the special content, don't use a badge that's produced as a side-effect.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually there are several ways to get the infamy badge before hitting level 30.

1. Do SF's after you outlevel them.
2. Exemp
3. Street sweep in Bloody Bay at level 26+*
4. Perma-debt

I've been doing #3 a lot lately. Usually really late at night when there aren't so many people around. Plus there are several hunting badges you can work on at the same time: Shivan, CoT, Freakshow, and Longbow (which I believe unlocks another secret contact you need before lvl 30).

I'm confused about #3, sweeping in bloody bay at 26+. I specifically tried that at 28, after reading that as a suggestion, and was still earning experience. Actual, real experience, not just debt payment. If I kept doing that, I would hit 29, and not knowing how close I was to Bling, I gave up and went back to perma-debt till I got bling, which I did about 4 bubbles into 28.

Even though You're auto-levelled to 25 in bloody bay, I was definately earning experience at 28. This was about early February, for reference.

The requirement of Bling for a 25-30 contact is definately a bad idea though. I was in perma-debt from 10-28.4 and only barely got Bling. Keeping in perma-debt for half your career, or doing SFs after you out level them, shouldn't be required to do a contact.

Your methods simply stop leveling until you can unlock the contact - you're not even working with a particular goal. You're still gaining Infamy as a mere byproduct of what you're doing at that time. You are not "working at" Infamy the way you might work at a kill badge.

I use cityofheroesonline for my badge collecting and found these accolades:

Super Patriot - As a Super Patriot, you have been granted a permanent increase to your Max Endurance by 5.

Task Force Commander - As a Task Force Commander, you have been granted a permanent increase to your Max Hit Points by 5%.

There are more accolades there, but they have no names. Can you get this accolades yet, are there plans of them going live or what?

Do not use CityOfHeroesOnline for badge collecting! It's very very out of date!!

Anyway, those accolades are unreleased/abandoned. They're not available.

I'm happy for you. But that doesn't change what I said.

My quote proceeding what you snipped:
[ QUOTE ]
I'm getting nearly the same treatment -now- for, and unable to fill 1 full team for at one time in the last few months:

[/ QUOTE ]
Just last -weekend- I seen the Ghost of the scrapyard 3 times.
1st time: 2 FULL teams (I didn't find it, but a SGmate did & invited me to a team)
1st time result: after a lengthy battle the Drones by the ferry got the badge.

2nd time: I heard an announcement responded to it, and was only one of FOUR!! people fighting it.
2nd time result: we brought it down to 1/2 hp, had a team wipe, when we got back it was back to full health. damaged it about 10% & it despawned. No badge.

3rd time: I found it, got absolutely NO RESPONSE to pleadings to help take it down, so gave it up.

Deathsurge:
I've had a response before deathsurge was fixed, well lets just say I cant post the response here due to the censors.

The last time I got a team together to do deathsurge, I had 7 people on the team. I broadcast, announced in the server monster channel, I started asking blindly with the search menu. The same response over & over: I have the badge, go away.

I stand by my comments that with all the monsters I named, I've met with them under a full team. Not always succeeded in taking them down, but I've fought with under a full team with them.

Also how do u recieve the Vigilante Badge my brother got it after doin like 10 mish in PVP ive done like over 100 and still nothing. Be greatly appreciated if someone could help me out with this.

Do one of each type mission, you will then have the 3 pvp zone mission badges. The true pvp badges come from 20 kills, 100 Rep and 400 Rep.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I combine the two. There are several kill badges you can work on in Bloody Bay (like Villain to unlock another contact). Plus you could wait and do the SF's till after you outlevel them, you should get a good chunk of infamy from those.

Plus, here's something to think about. By the time you reach level 26, you have earned 446,119xp. If all you had fought to get that were minions you would have earned 312283 infamy (0.7 inf/xp). Plus you earn a better inf/xp ration for Lt's and bosses, and most mission bonuses are 1 inf/xp. And watch how much infamy you would earn over the next few levels just getting minion infamy:

LVL__Total XP___Infamy (@ .7 inf/xp)
27___554119____387883
28___689119____482383
29___855769____599038

At approx lvl 28.15 you would have earned enough xp by just defeating nothing but minions to have 500K in infamy (714286xp). So just basic leveling will take care of over half the requirement for 'Bling' before you hit 30. Add in all the extra infamy from sources that give a better inf/xp ratio than minions do and it really begins to close the gap.

I'll admit, it can be a bit of a grind. But gets some friends together and go tear up the streets of Bloody Bay for a while and the infamy should come rolling in. My brute had no problem getting 25K infamy per hour soloing, and that included avoiding spawns that would be a bit to much to take solo.

I just really wish the devs would give a satisfactory answer to the issue of why some badges (like infamy) don't have a progress bar.

If you were earning xp in Bloody Bay at level 26+, then there was a bug. I've spent three evening's there and haven't earned a single XP. Plenty of infamy, a little debt, and two badges (Villain, Woman in Black), but absolutely no xp.

Getting Bling at 28.4 from perma debt is about right. The xp required for 28.15 would net you just enough infamy from minions (.7 inf/xp) to get 500K. And that doesn't count rewards with better inf/xp ratios (lt's, bosses, etc...), debt, and exemping.

Ultimately, I do think that the hidden contact idea is slightly flawed, since there is at least one hidden contacts that is nearly impossible to get the required badge before outleveling her. At least not without some planning and lots of grinding.

Ah... Goodie.

Alright, The gunner badge. Is it still bugged? I know, someone has comfirmed it over on pinnacle, but, they said they had done over 300 firebases to get the badge. That seems to be quite alot of firebases and would take quite a long time.

Is there, perhaps, a trick of sort involved? The badge description does kinda imply that you need to only take over 1 firebase... but 300? Bit rediculous.

FYI - this fix has not yet made it onto the live servers. The Gunner badge is NOT working on the live servers. Please do not /petition to get the badge.
