Suggested by: Me
catagory: Room Details
customizable: Yes
Type: Room Divider
Description: A flat panel that can take textures to match the walls of the room they're placed in. Would come in sizes to reach from floor to ceiling from tallest to shortest floor and ceiling height combinations and be able to take wall details. They could be used to divide one room into a number of smaller rooms for work areas or member housing that could be decorated to the user's request and take up less floor space than face to face bookcases like I've seen used in some bases.

Base Monitor Duty

Originally suggested by : Darkelven_Vixxen
Catagory: Base Team Upgrade
Customizable?: Yes
Type: Purchased

Description: This upgrade would enable a single character to assume the role of Base Monitor and use special Base equipment to aid teams of characters in the field. Aid could come in the form of simple information, calling for outside assistance, gathering and organizing the team and emergency evac teleports to name a few.

Specifics: In order to assume the role of Base Monitor a character would have to be present in a Base where the necessary Monitoring Equipment has been installed. Clicking on this equipment would open another window (likely full-screen but not necessarily) from which the character could perform Monitor Duties.

The initial piece of Monitoring Equipment would be relatively inexpensive and draw little power but it's capabilities would be very limited. Initially the Monitor would be able to see the map of any zone the base has active Teleport beacons to. From these maps he would be able to send and receive communications in Broadcast, Team and SG channels as well as tels. He would also be able to facilitate the forming of teams by use of a Team Searching / Looking for Team roster. From this roster he could send information to various characters on teams awaiting other characters or looking for teams. Any characters in the SG whose Base he was Monitoring from might have additional information at his disposal such as mission preferences ('Don't like tunnels') and personal messages (No PLing).

Once a team was formed they could elect to maintain contact with the Monitor or not. If they did then at the end of their mission he would receive the Mission End bonus or at least a fraction thereof for his efforts. If the team elected not to remain in contact there might be an option to Trade with the Monitor so the team might gift the Monitor for his time gathering the team.

If the Monitor maintained contact througout the mission then he would have several abilities granted to him based on how good the Monitoring Equipment was and possibly tied to the Monitor's level as well.

The initial Monitoring Station might enable the Monitor to see the mission maps as the team clears them and communicate to the team. This could facilitate searches, lost or down teammates etc.

Upgrading the Monitoring Equipment might enable the Monitor to (in no particular order) do the following:

See a small portion of the map not yet cleared by the team.

Activate ally Buffs and/or enemy Debuffs that could be defined as hacking the mission location's power systems, security, lights and so on. These Buffs and Debuffs would be small (on the order of 5%) but they would stack with the team's existing Buffs if any.

Call for outside assistance in the form of one or more groups of allies (PPD, Longbow, Arachnos, etc). Such assistance would have a time delay to arrive and a time limit on-site to prevent abuse. The typical level of the reinforcements would be dependant upon the level of the Monitoring Equipment (better is good) and the Difficulty setting of the mission. They're intended to help out...not do the mission for the team.

Teleport downed team members back to the base even if there was no Resuscitate Ring in the Base (as long as there was an ative Teleporter to that zone). The character would arrive unconscious and need to be revived by established means (Inspirations, Rez Powers, etc). Alternately a VERY expensive and sophisticated Base upgrade might enable the Monitor to use a form of Teleport Other to send the downed team member to another (cleared) point on the map such as where the team has gathered to heal up.

The possibilites for this are virtually endless. The benefits are many and range from added Base use to faster team assembly to the ability to add a 'ninth man' to the team.

The range of players that could benefit is also very wide. Tactical team experts could utilize the Team Roster function to quickly and effectively gather teams. RPers could enjoy the RP aspects of being the Base Monitor or from being on a team with a 'big brother' watching over them. Players that might have trouble finding a team could list themselves on the roster instead of spamming the Broadcast with LFT messages. If any of the Monitor functions were tied to the Monitor's level then the higher-level characters, especially 50s, could participate in missions in a whole new way. Even soloists could benefit if they wanted to do the 'one-man tac-ops' type of mission with the support guy on the radio feeding the guy in the field intelligence.

Seeing that the Issue 9 base suggestions thread got the purge, I'm going to repost some of my suggestions here.

Rooms:
A change to the decoration rooms (and some additions) with proposed costs. No functional items (no anchors, storage items, etc) should be allowed in these rooms:

1x1 - 2,500
1x2 - 5,000
1x3 - 7,500
1x4 - 10,000
1x5 - 12,500
1x6 - 15,000
1x7 - 17,500
1x8 - 20,000

2x2 - 10,000
2x3 - 15,000
2x4 - 20,000
2x5 - 25,000
2x6 - 30,000
2x7 - 35,000
2x8 - 40,000

3x3 - 22,500 <- Current Studio Size
3x4 - 30,000
3x5 - 37,500
3x6 - 45,000
3x7 - 52,500
3x8 - 60,000

4x4 - 40,000 <- Current Recreation Room Size
4x5 - 50,000
4x6 - 60,000
4x7 - 70,000
4x8 - 80,000

5x5 - 62,500 <- Current Meeting Room Size
5x6 - 75,000
5x7 - 87,500
5x8 - 100,000

6x6 - 90,000 <- Current Trophy Room Size
6x7 - 105,000
6x8 - 120,000

7x7 - 122,500 <- Current Assembly Room Size
7x8 - 140,000

8x8 - 160,000 <- Current Great Room Size

This would allow for far more choice in base design for all sized groups. It would also scale the costs so that each square of usuable decoration room would cost 2,500 prestige. The current cost is 150,000 no matter the size.

- Make a 1x2 Control room. Charge 50,000 prestige. Allow Mainframe, and one of the Terminal / Clerk Desk, Corner Terminal / Augury Table (bumped to 15 control), Monitor Bank / Scrying Paintings, or Holodisplay / Mystic Advisor. This will give an exta 10 to 25 control over the mainframe's new ability.

- Make a 1x2 Power room. Charge 50,000 prestige. Allow only the Basic Generator in it.

- A 1x2 Medical Room 50k, allow 1 medical main, 1 medical aux.

Decoration items:
A 1x1x1 block textured to match the wall/floor styles (or that can inherit them from the room). This would allow for stairs to go beyond 1 level.

Functional base items:
- Increase the Mainframe / Magic Axis to 100 control (+50 control difference) for the same price.

- Corner Terminal / Augury Table increased to 15 control (+3 control difference), change price to 35,000.

- Allowing the combo unit to attach a limit one of the following: Terminal / Clerk Desk, Corner Terminal / Augury Table (bumped to 15 control), Monitor Bank / Scrying Paintings, or Holodisplay / Mystic Advisor. This will give an exta 10 to 25 control.

- Allowing the combo unit to attach a Circuit Breaker / Crystal Focus (just one). It would have a net gain of 135-140 power.

- Allow the Mainframe / Magic Axis to attach the Advanced Terminal / Seer Desk or Advanced Corner Terminal / Viewing Portal to allow more flexability to reach the supercomputer.

Outdoor base style
Originally suggested by: Nadira
Category: base style
Customizable? NA
Type: purchased
Description:
A new set of room and base plot styles that start with an open lawn. Items can only be placed in the 'rooms'.
Additional rooms are enclosed by dense and impassable undergrowth similar to how it is handled in outdoor areas. Only decorative rooms come with the option of being unenclosed (it carries an invisible wall around it).

Ceiling styles are translated into sky types.
Floor heights transit smoothly if the height difference is 1 tier, or abruptly if it is two.
Limitations: none

Biotech
Originally suggested by: Nadira
Category: Item style
Customizable? NA
Type: purchased/crafted
Description:
Functional items in a base come in two styles now: tech and magic. Adding a style with a biotech look (e.g. glass cylinders with bubbling liquid and unidentified tissue in it) would allow for more varied base designs. Control could be provided by brains in glass jars linked together, and the biotech equivalent of the fusion generator could be some mixture of high tech equipment and mutated looking internal organs with thick bundles of flesh sprawling over and around it. Or maybe something slightly less disgusting looking
Having walls floors of living and pulsing flesh probably is also a bit too high of an ick factor but would be highly suitable for the mad genius or deranged mage kind of hide-out.
Limitations: none

Elevator doors for the secret entrance
Originally suggested by: Nadira, and most likely by others as well
Category: decoration
Customizable? probably not but perhaps other styles could be crafted.
Type: purchased
Description:
Instead of a blue swirling thingy add an elevator shaft (tech style), magic summoning circle (magic style) for the base entrance. Some of the blue swirly effect could be maintained if it is considered vital for the base exit to be instantly recognisable.
Limitations: Can only be placed on, and replaces the look for, the current base entrance. Only one per base, only in the entrance room.

This is not for an item but say we get rid of the anoying hallways inbetween rooms so we can fit more rooms in our base or atleast let us decorate the hallways. It's soo anoying not being able to decorate them.

I mean rooms should be able to share the same walls.

All that I would love has been said... I dont even want any extravagant and special stuff that goes explicitly with my taste and need, I just find some very simple basic furniture things are missing.
So could you please, as it should not be that much work, add each one simple generic

- Bed
- Cupboard
- Locker
- Computer ( without desk attached)
- Fridge
- TV.

Microwave perhaps.
Thanks.

Carpet floor or carpets would also be nice, and a tile option to make lower floors water basins would of course totally rock. : )

I dunno if this has been posted before... but a friend of mine had this idea about having NPCs in bases.

Base NPCs (Non-playable Characters)
Originally suggested by: Randomnite (on behalf of Havok Brothers)

Type: Standard (no need to unlock)
Description: They're just there to make the base look good (and less empty). Imagine having receptionists, security guards, scientists...etc, etc.
Limitations: Nothing really. Its jut like having NPCs in City Hall and whatnot.

Event monitor
Originally suggested by: Nadira (probably by others as well)
Category: base item
Customizable? NA
Type: Crafted
Description: A huge item that can be placed in any room. It shows a slideshow of images captured by a 'webcam' placed in a zone (i.e. no real real-time image generating as that would be too much of a burden on both server and client computers, but it does show the current state of a zone every 30 or so seconds).
To place a camera the supergroup needs to complete a set of missions in that zone (accessible through the mission computer). For ease of use (by the server) the camera will have to have a fixed location and view direction and the mission only unlocks the access to it.
Cameras slowly degrade over a very long time so the maintenance missions have to be done every now and then to maintain camera access
Limitations: none

Training room
Originally suggested by: Many many others
Category: Mission
Customizable? Yes
Type: Crafted
Description:
Supergroups can craft a special mission 'door' that can be placed in the base. When it is present training missions become available on the mission computer.
Each mission is specific to an enemy group and costs a certain amount of salvage specific to that group to start.
Up to 5 common salvage for one particular group unlocks a number of missions of up to level 20 (level determined by the group leader, and team members auto-exemplar as per usual taskforce rules).
4 common and 1 uncommon unlocks a number of missions up to 25. Replacing more commons with uncommons and later uncommons with rares unlocks missions up to level 70.
This type of mission does not give debt, inspirations, salvage, prestige or influence.
Other supergroup (and coalition) members can enter the mission once it started as observers only (same as with the arena). They can not affect or be affected by the mission in progress.
The idea behind this is that it gives players a reason to be in a base as opposed to regarding it as a transit station the way it is now (almost the only reason to visit a base is to leave it again for another zone). By requiring specific salvage for missions supergroups or coalitions are required to work together to gather those resources before they can create their own instanced training missions, thus encouraging them to play the actual game and not viewing the training missions as the game.
Limitations: none

non-raid base plot
Originally suggested by: Nadira
Category: Base construction
Customizable? NA
Type: NA
Description:
Many limitiations on base design exists to allow for a fair environment for base raids (e.g. no items in doorways, no doors in doorways, free paths between all raid destructable items in a base).
By marking a base as non-raidable those restrictions could be lifted, or severely reduced in the base editor, allowing for more freedom in base design for supergroups (or private lairs) that are not intended to be raided.
By making this a separate plot (set of plots) swapping between raidable and non-raidable is not instantly possible, eliminating possible exploits.
Non-raid plots do not accept items of powers (or the rooms that hold them) nor do they accept the defensive variation of those rooms. Also no defensive items can be place and the base can not be invaded (not even with a consentual raid)
Limitations: None
__________________________________________________ ____________

Secondary plots
Originally suggested by: Nadira
Category: Base construction
Customizable? NA
Type: NA
Description:
In addition to having larger plots also allow to purchase secondary, smaller plots (must be of the same style as the main one, either all are defensive or none).
This would allow for more interesting base design, plus would be a start for allowing multi story bases (if secondary plots could be placed above or below the main one and floors and roofs could have a style 'None' to allow openings between them)
Limitations: None
________________________________________________

Player housing plot
Originally suggested by: Nadira and many others
Category: Base construction
Customizable? NA
Type: NA
Description:
A special plots that only accepts a special set of 'player housing' rooms and corridors (1 x n sized decorative rooms)
Each room gets assigned an 'occupant' who can freely decorate the room (and allow or block access to the room to others as long as he or she is inside).
Prestige for decoration comes from the supergroup store, but no player can draw more than the amount of influence they contributed to the group. The logic behind this is that it both gives more players access to base building and that it encourages to contribute to the supergroup's prestige pool.
Limitations: None

I'm not as ambitious as most of you. I would be happy with some new textures to the walls/cielings/floors.

1) Solid color (no pattern) with no (or as litttle as possible) grid showing. Gives the ability to make a much sleeker look to ceilings/floors.

2) Solid with various sized small dots. For example an all black ceiling with (what appear to be) stars or an entire base that looks like it is floating in space.

3) Run down versions of the tech equipment. Currently if you want a sewer base you have to go magic or have shiney new machines in your sewer.

Its long past time I threw out a few ideas I've been kicking around. Its not totally novel, but I've tried to present it as clearly as possible with as much potential for use as possible.
This batch could probably be placed within the Pillars tab, and have the tab renamed to Structural or Architectural Features.

Cost should be low or even free as this is primarily a refinement of the existing elevations and room sizes.
Alternately to these 4 items, the Small Structural Riser and a duplicate wall mounted version could accomplish the same goal but would shunt much of the effort from the Developers to the end users (us).

Behold, Legos for Base Builders!
___________________________________________
Large Structural Riser
Originally suggested by: Shadow Fire
Category: Structural Features (Pillars)
Customizable? No, multiple versions to match existing room styles instead.
Type: Purchased
Description: A simple cube matching a single elevation within the base with all six sides to the crash box matching the surface area of the cube. Large Structural Risers are designed for stacking. If at all possible allow placement of wall items on the sides of the Riser.
Limitations: No customization.
__________________________________________________ ____________

Small Structural Riser
Originally suggested by: Shadow Fire
Category: Structural Features (Pillars)
Customizable? No, multiple versions to match existing room styles instead.
Type: Purchased
Description: A simple cube one quarter the height of the Large Structural Riser with all six sides to the crash box matching the surface area of the cube. Small Structural Risers are designed for stacking. Small Structural Risers should allow placement of wall items. The primary intent of this size Riser would be to allow custom creation of podiums for Beacon placement.
Limitations: No customization.
__________________________________________________ ___________

Wall Panel
Originally suggested by: Shadow Fire
Category: Structural Features (Pillars)
Customizable? No, multiple versions to match existing room styles instead.
Type: Purchased
Description: A simple panel one quarter the width of the Large Structural Riser, with the same height and length. The Crash box must match the size of the Wall Panel. Allows for stacking and placement of wall items. Primary use would be to partially subdivide rooms.
Limitations: No customization.
__________________________________________________ ___________

Raised Platform
Originally suggested by: Shadow Fire
Category: Structural Features (Pillars)
Customizable? No, multiple versions to match existing room styles instead.
Type: Purchased
Description: One quarter the height of the Large Structural Riser, but otherwise identical. Rather than floor placement, Raised Platforms would be wall mounted. Because they would allow placement of wall mounted items, these could be collectively used to create higher level floors.
Limitations: No customization. Wall Mounted

Bolded for emphasis.

Are you insane? Reduce those prices by 10,000x and it would be worthwhile. Remove all but a minimum control and energy cost. My PLOT costs something like 14 million prestige. You think I would put something in my base that is essentially a word tablet for 50 million? That's what free websites are for.
