Not sure if these were suggested but

Idea 1.
A training room where X amount of time spent on a training device earns you 3 uses of a temp power. So say 15 min on a tread mill gets you 3 uses of 30 sec ss boost. Or 50 practice shots at an archery target gets you 10 arrows (tempary bow & arrow).

Idea 2
Decent beds. current ones offered are either yucky or non impressive. Private rooms. A door placeable on one wall of the undeletable SG entrance room. That door leads to a zone that is individual per player. ALL players on a team may zone into the same room but it will be the team leader's room. Room is able to be tailored by room owner. Cost very little.

Also it would be nice to have a "relax" emotes.
/em Lounge -lounge pose for couch
/em nap - nap for on a bed
/em chair - sit at a chair so you can look like your working there. ledge sit is okay but your head is always down

Idea 3 .
Wall moniters. purchased by what is on them. one showing sportish stuff, one entertainment, one news, one that cycles thru all the programs, one mtvish one.

^^ well, your sorta in luck LadyCleo

<.< the new improvements do have temp powers, but they're ones you can make with salvage, not something you have to do pointless staring at the wall for ^^ (more variety too!)

>.> also, on the moniters (I'm assuming you want tvs, flatscreen), and beds. I6 bases main focus on stuff was actually making the base editor work and easy enough for JoeSmoe (^^ appolagies to those with this name) to use. >.> other than the pvp related stuff, base items are all taken out of regular coh or cov, the new items have more taken out, and ones specifically made ^_^

Cuppajo already sent a copy of this thread to the Devs a few weeks ago. She also perma'ed it, so we don't have to worry about it disappearing.

We DO have to worry about thread creep, so I'd prefer that we keep discussion brief and stay focused on brainstorming good ideas. I'll prob'ly work up a Mk. 3 at some point, when I've got a lot of free time and inclination. Perhaps after Ish 7, when presumably a nice, freshly formatted list will actually be useful and topical. (Wish we had a UBB code for strikethrough, would be really handy for archiving the items that DO come out in i7; Base Storage, for instance, is confirmed.)

But in case I haven't said it before, many thanks to Sleepy_Kitty, Captain_A, DojrhomTRW, and all the others who have helped keep this thread on track; couldn't have done it without you folks.

Aye sorry about not following the thread formatt.

As far as the temp powers go, I was just trying to think of some ways to encourage my SG to spend more time in my base I would love for it to have some traffic, its like having a 10 million dollar car you only use twice a week right now. No one is ever in it. Unless we are raiding of course.

Randomly Generated Base Missions
Originally suggested by: Pyrotechnic
Category: Control Auxiliary

Type: Crafted/Unlocked
Description: This is less of a new item, and more of an improvement to a current one. Basically, I'd like to see the base Mission Computer/Oracle give out randomly generated door missions, like the newspapers in CoV do. While you could just have it use the missions the person already has access to in those zones, I would prefer if these missions didn't require you to enter a zone outside your base. For example, if I got a mission from the Mission Computer to kill all the CoT in the mission at level 38, then I could click the raid teleporter and have my mission show up as one of the destinations I could port to, and be in a mission map full of level 38 CoT.

This would not only give people more reason to spend time in the SG bases, but give PvE Supergroups a reason to get the raid teleporter. Recently, I went around looking for supergroups to raid my base, and found NO ONE with a raid teleporter.
Limitations: The same as normal randomly generated missions. Only three to choose from until you zone.

Dimensional Focus Device
Originally suggested by: Someone else, I don't know.
Category: Entrance Room Auxiliary
Customizable? N
Type: Crafted/Unlocked
Description: The device would be an attachment to the entrance portal, letting you ignore the set 'Spawn Points' in zones that you zoned to by exiting through the base portal, dropping you wherever you died if you got to the base using the Reclaimator. As spawning where you died can sometimes be an unwise thing to do, and lead to yet more deaths, the item would be toggleable. That is, you could manipulate it like you can manipulate telepads and worktables. Once manipulated, the item would either activate or deactivate itself, letting the person exiting the base choose whether to teleport to the destination zone's spawn point, or to instead teleport to where they entered the base from.
Limitations: Only one per entrance portal, only placeable in the entrance room. Can not be turned on or off by non-SG members.

I would actually prefer the they make the base portal inside the base work like it does outside. That is, you could go from the base you're in to any other base you have access to by either coalition or group leadership. However, instead of the base you're located in showing up at the portal, the location you entered the base network would be listed instead.

^^;; no worries, this wasn't done for i6 due to the feeling that heroes needed it less with the trams and a lack of time in the rush to put CoV out for halloween. Positron told me it was already done and we'll be seeing it hero side soon.

My VG is new to base building, and actually only just began to get into it. I'd like to suggest a few more decorative items:

Wall-mounted decorative weaponry
Originally suggested by: Vishalicious
Category: Wall Decoration
Customizable? N
Type: Purchased
Description: Wall-mounted weaponry, like a katana/wakizashi set or muskets or broadsword. Maybe even axe or mace. Working on my base, I found that I'd love to add these to areas where strategy/planning is aluded to.
Limitations: Purely decorative.

Hanging plants/Plants on shelves
Originally suggested by: Vishalicious
Category: Wall Decoration
Customizable? N
Type: Purchased
Description: Small ledges with various small indoor plants. I'd like this for rooms in which I want to add greenery, but don't want to dominate the floorspace with.
Limitations: Purely decorative.

Vines
Originally suggested by: Vishalicious
Category: Wall Decoration
Customizable? N
Type: Purchased
Description: Vines or creepers which can be placed on walls, similarly to pictures or other relatively flat wall-mounted decorations.
Limitations: Purely decorative.

Shelves
Originally suggested by: Vishalicious
Category: Wall Decoration
Customizable? N
Type: Purchased
Description: We already have cabinets. I'd like matching empty or partially-filled shelves or racks.
Limitations: Purely decorative.

Mirrors
Originally suggested by: Vishalicious
Category: Decorative
Customizable? N
Type: Purchased
Description: I've not seen the new reflective surfaces which I've heard about, yet, but using that tech, it might be nice to make shiny surfaces including mirrors of various sizes/styles.
Limitations: Purely decorative.

As an aside, I'd like to be able to interact with objects in the base. I'd especially like to be able to click on a chair and sit on it and click on a light-source to turn it on or off. By extension, lying on a bed or having chairs to match some of the desks so that characters can sit at them would be nice.

Here's something else that came to mind, but I forgot to post:

Fireplace
Originally suggested by: Vishalicious

Description: Several styles of fireplaces or other hearths which may possibly match the various lower wall styles. Perhaps different sizes as well. If interactive objects are introduced, the ability to light/extinguish the fireplace would also be nice.
Limitations: Purely decorative.

Also, as an extension of my previous post (just above), perhaps 'sitting emotes'. For example, seated on a chair in front of a flat surface, like a table, there could be eating, drinking, newspaper, cellphone, card playing, and other emotes.

After editing the base a bit more, recently, I feel that the ability to decorate the floor would be nice to have. Carpeting, or perhaps various arcane or tech runners would look good in many rooms. Even better, runners using the same designs as the new SG banners, which could be placed below other objects, so that you could have a red runner with your SG logo leading to a podium, or an area rug below your SG table would be a nice touch.

Carpeting/Runner
Originally suggested by: Vishalicious
Category: Room Details
Customizable? N
Type: Purchased
Description: Carpets could be relatively large; square, circular or rectangular-shaped, maybe with SG logo on them, for a higher price. Runners would probably need to be rectangular, and the ends may be tapered at one or both ends, also with options containing the SG's logo.
Limitations: Purely decorative.

Is it worth posting here? Are the devs reading this thread?

Here's what I want to see (in order of importance to me)

1. Ability to log into game inside base. I hate logging in after logging out from inside my base to appear outside the portal. Being able to log into the base would greatly increase the use they get, I believe.

2. Ability to "bump" rooms together with no intervening doorway, understanding that the entire "wall" that they share would be gone. That way, two workshops could appear as one big workshop, energy rooms could be an annex of a decorative room...possiblities are endless. Plus there would be more room for rooms in the smaller plots since the need for all the doorways would be reduced.

3. Give us a setting in the options stating whether we intend or not to take part in raids. I know many many SGs have no intention of ever doing raids, so let us make that statement in an option selection. If set to "No base raids", give us more freedom in our base construction (ie, if my suggestion #2 is unworkable because of base raid rules, let us bump rooms together if we aren't going to raid.

4. Kinda tied to #3, if we aren't raiding, allow us more leeway in "blocking" doorways

5. Why o why is the Arcane teleporter larger than the Tech? They should be identical sized.

6. Either make the beacon screens smaller or the teleporters smaller so they screens can be placed on a wall next to the teleporters.

7. More "natural" tilesets. It's odd we have all this office furniture and no office tilesets.

8. For the Arcane bases, more plants without planters. Should be easy to make the leaves drape the ground and hide the lack of planter. Trees can just be growing out of the ground. Make bushy plants able to "stack" or be placed "over" each other (no bounding boxes) so we can make areas as sparse or overgrown as we want. Added bonus is we can walk through the bushes as well.

Is it worth posting here? Are the devs reading this thread?

[/ QUOTE ]

possibly, when Lord Recluse was still with us, he told us that organized base idea like this thread where helpful and that they where actually looking at it (btw, you didn't stick to format, but I wouldn't worry since you requested more general changes, and not base things)

[ QUOTE ]
1. Ability to log into game inside base.

[/ QUOTE ]

-.- unfortinatly, you won't see this until they compleatly redo the game or bases. right now the bases run on a similar engine to mission instancing. So if you can't log in, in a mission, you won't be able to in a base (not to mention, it would add ALOT of stress to the server to have all the bases open all the time, and stress = lag)

[ QUOTE ]
2. Ability to "bump" rooms together with no intervening doorway, understanding that the entire "wall" that they share would be gone.

[/ QUOTE ]

a nice idea ^_^ it might go against the raid design that drives the entirety of base design though.. also, while allowing you to make interesting spaces.. you can often already do that with a larger size of the same room. I'm afraid this probably won't happen in sg base (but maybe... personal ones!!! *prays*)

[ QUOTE ]
3. Give us a setting in the options stating whether we intend or not to take part in raids (and 4.)

[/ QUOTE ]

o.o you can.. you DO NOT have to do raid (and can't, still, probably not till i8 at earliest) as long as you don't do the Item of Power (ie, Cathedral of Pain) trial. as for blocking.. yeah, I hate that too, I wish they'd turn it off for those who don't have the IoP and only require them for ppl who are raiding/doing the trial. >_< unfortinatly, bases are designed around PvP, not as community centers currently (but rejoys! they are being examined for future issues in reguards to making bases SG friendly!!!!)

[ QUOTE ]
5. Why o why is the Arcane teleporter larger than the Tech? They should be identical sized.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, for the most part, arcane made salvage items take up more floor space (except the first power generator, it takes up less space than its tech counterpart, all others are same space or more). As for the reason.... probably, no scalling checks where done at time of make, and base items haven't exactly been high priority, there are still alot of bad bugs from i5 to fix (like global chat, i5 removed all sg options from it)

^^ the other two items are actual requests, so all I can say is, the layout one is more likely since they have been adding layout things to the base editor with each update.
