IStoryarcs are WHY I play. I avoid TF/SFs because its too easy to outlvl content while in them. (I go back and do TFs RSK'd). I avoid teaming up when I know i'll lvl too fast. (love being a brute). Im in love with the fact that nearly EVERY contact in CoV has storyarcs! But its content that I want to experience...and (call me greedy) but I want to experience it all!

Have to agree. The content is the reason I play.

Yes - I agree!

(at lvl 12, I only have Kalinda's & Vendetti's Story Arcs completed & am working on the Radio)

I also agree the story arc content is superb. I just completed the arc about Ghost Widow's past.. very cool. She was actually in the second to last mission, conning as a lvl 40 AV, as a part of the cutscene. These little additions to the missions and arcs unbelievably make CoV much more entertaining. Kudos to Cryptic!

Aggreed and all the heroes we get to kill with cutscenes and personal histories and such of the characters even if not main characters are quite cool.

Btw at later levels you don't outlevel contacts. In fact from lvl 19-20 I had no contacts or missions, even maxed out my Bloody Bar bar.

The more I think about this, the more it seems like it could be a good thing. To my mind, outlvling some arcs can increase the replayability of the game. If you go through and get to the max lvl while completeing every arc theres not much of an incentive to create a new toon just to do the same thing all over again. By missing some arcs the first few times around when you go back with a new toon you can make sure you pick up the arcs you missed, thus creating a somewhat new experience. So maybe there is a silver lining after all.

Say that to the Plans we have for our "Super Computer" .. They more content I can Immerse in 1 Hero/villain the more I can do to support the SG/VG base.

Do you want to be that 4 star general that has been only assigned to the Pentagon or the General that has seen Veitnam,Korea,Panama,Gulf War 1, Gulf War 2, etc.

My toons like to have a wide spectrum of content. All this outleveling stuff AT NORMAL PLAY is going to premote power leveling.

on CoH I was careful how i leveled and my main has All Arcs and content but Tina Macintire since she isn't attached to any teir. . .

I was very excited when my contact told me that a Hellion from Paragon City was coming to the Rogue Isles to just kill me, and then very disappointed when I discovered I had out leveled the story arc. Annoying thing is that I had just aquired the previous misison and completed it in the same level so why I can do the next to last mission and not the last mission in the same level I don't get.

Once again, I am NOT saying that it isn't a problem, I would dearly love to go back and complete the 3 arcs I missed already. I am just trying not to let it ruin the experience is all, especially since at the moment there is precious little we can do to change the situation. I suppose that the best we can hope for is that they will eventually enable us to go back to old Arcs like in CoH.

Part of me is considering starting my character over, with the knowledge of who the contacts are and what they give. I mean it only took 5 days of play for me to make it to lvl 17.
Now I would know where the missions that are failable, and would bring help. My only problem would be that i would still miss the ones that are bugged. Has ANYONE gotten missions from Dr. Shelley?

Much like you can't go through CoH and get every contact. You get some of them.

[/ QUOTE ]

Once again, I feel like I am playing a different game. More often than not in CoH, I run out of contacts. I may choose to skip some because I know they offer nothing as far as badges or rewards. Maybe its different at the lower levels now since people dont seem to go outside the hollows and can miss most of the pre-12 content.

The only issue I have in CoH is outleveling Task Forces

It is VERY easy in CoV to outlevel contacts. I didnt even get to do Mongoose. I went straight from Kalinda to the Radio.

I have never understood WHY we out-level anything. Why cant the missions just scale up to our current level? Fighting a level 14 Mook is no different that fighting a level 16 one

I went to CAD at level 12 and completed enough broker missions to get Dr. Shelley as a contact. She started the story arc on my first mission and I completed a few missions before I ran into the bugged mission. This mission had a bunch of random numbers for the objective and while I was clearing through the mission, I was booted outside and received a mission failed. I was not able to complete the story arc after this, but she did offer me the badge mission and introduce me to a new contact.

The Devs need to fix this quick. I cant team with my sg because were not the same lvls. And it is killing my contacts.

Posted

Here is a trick I use...since it takes 15 paper missions to get all 3 contacts.

DO NOT TEAM for paper missions

Set to Villanous

Always choose KILL X and guards. Run directly to Boss and kill him and henchman. Many times you will luck out and only have to kill 2-4 people.

That way you can use real contact missions for XP. Once you start an arc, they usually let you finsish even if you out level them.

Mongoose's missions early on, right after Khalinda. There seemed to be an arc going on, I had clues and a story... but after the 'final' mission, (with the temple), nothing. No souvenier, no further clues... he just pushed me off on the PO Broker.
Anyone know if Mongoose is a real arc or no?

This is the way it's meant to be. The devs have stated repeatedly that it was never meant for one character to experience all the content in the game. In fact, there isn't that signficant a difference from COH, really.

If you group in either, you'll be lucky to clear two or three contacts of missions, nevermind all of them. The hardcore mission soloists can do it (even in COV), but characters that only group can't even come close, even if you only have one or two designated mission takers.

It gives you something new to experience with an alt. Considering how many people complain there isn't enough content or that the content doesn't vary enough...

As for the buggy mission from Dr. Percy, it's finishable. However, there are a number of factors. One, sometimes ambushes don't trigger (this happens when you hold off trying to complete the mission for a few levels). Two, the enemies at the object start beating on it when you get within a certain distance, regardless of LoS. So if you are on the other side of a wall... too bad. If you want to have a chance, when you hit the 4th floor, run through and hope you can find the glowie, beat the guards, the ambush, and any stragglers you've picked up before they do too much damage. If you do, beat a few waves of bad guys after the object, and you're done. It depends on luck though, to a large extent, since you have to get to the object before the bad guys blow it away.

Either way, the bugginess causes a lot of unnecessary, unfaulted failures. But they'll fix it. In the mean time, I don't think failing one mission/story-arc will scar your character for life.

I petitioned it. The first reply I got said they were transferring it to QA as a bug report and that my ticket may be closed without further warning. I sent another reply back asking flat out if my character will be awarded the souvie and if not, then why not. The reply back to that was 'This is a known issue. We are working on it and hoped to have it resolved soon. Please refer to the patch notes for any updates. Thank you.' Notice there was no answer to my question.

Is it just me, or is the CS side getting...lacking...of late? It seems that since about I4, they have been going the way of say, SWG CS responses. Ok, maybe not that bad, but still, its no where near the responses from around I3.

As a side note, I also petitioned for Krylov's first story arc after I failed the Facemaker mission. It left the clues / story in my clue window and didn't remove it. I have YET to hear on that issue beyond the automated initial response from Monday.

I know these aren't that big of issues, but still, a customer would like a response.

All I can say is that I'm very dissappointed. They put badges on some of those missions...and guess what...now, you can forget about the badges.

They really need to do "something".

Actually, that 'known issue' reply was from the transfer to QA. Wait a bit to see if you get an actual response from your question.

Unless it changed recently, content is given based on security level (or threat level), not combat level. What this means is that if you are trying to get all the content that expires when you hit (for example) level 10, don't train up past 9. You can keep playing, queueing up level-ups, but for the purpose of offered content, you're still level 9, though mobs in missions will still scale to your combat level. The disadvantage, of course, is you're facing mobs with abilities scaled to the powers and slots you'd be expected to have at that level, so it can be a bit tougher in some cases.

(On an unrelated note - falloutdnb, your avatar owes me a new keyboard, this one has Dr. Pepper in it now.)

Tried that. Didn't work.

Yes, I actually managed to do both Dimitri arcs, both Themari arcs and Shelley's arc, but she stopped short of giving me the Mask Maker badge mission, so I'm missing yet another badge. That makes 2 souveniers and 2 badges thus far and I'm only lvl 15.

The arc WAS complete after you failed the mission. You should have gotten the souvenier the next time you zoned. As far as I know, this mission cannot be completed successfully.

Finally got a response on the Facemaker thing. You probably won't believe it, but I got canned response #1...Working as Intended.

I sent a reply back stating 'Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but it's INTENDED that story arc text and clues remain in the Clue tab (NOT the Souvenir tab) after completing a story arc, be it a failure or not? I'm not that upset or concerned with failing the final mission. What I AM concerned about, is that this failure prevents the contact (Dr. Dmitri Krylov) from giving any further missions, indeed a SECOND story arc, not introducing me to his next contact, as well as leaving my Clue window littered with text when it should have all been transferred to a Souvenir with the appropriate failure text.'

Got a reply back within an hour saying this was also transferred to QA. So, for 2 issues, nothing major in terms of a response.

In the beta it took 5 newspaper missions to fill the broker bar. It was dropped to 3 when it went live.
