The base stuff sounds cool, but it is a real shame they did not implement something similar albeit smaller on the individual level.

Actually, I have a functional question/ bug:
I set up a base for my SG last night. I really liked the ability to add extra levels or take out floor sections for a "sunken" look. When I tried to add stairs or a ramp, however, they only pointed one way. I couldn't put them on all sides of the "sunken" area.
When choosing the item, the item window says "right-click" to rotate. When I right-clicked on the item, however, it just rotated the whole map. Is this a bug? Or am I missing some type of secret crouching-mantis-style base-fu technique for rotating items?
So, how does one rename a base?

If you're talking about the "Your Base" that you see on the base portal zoning options, I don't think you can. At least, I don't believe anyone ever found a way.

IIRC, I think you have to right-click before confirming the item placement (ie, while the item is draggable). If it's already placed, you have to pick it up again.

You don't. "Your base" refers to the base your SuperGroup has. Additional names appear if you are in a Coalition as the name of the SuperGroups.
I doubt that Batman really thinks of it as "The Batcave" - he probably rolls his eyes when others call it that. But he's got so much Prestige (he's been playing since the 1930s) he can pretty well do what he wants. And he's got all the bat-kids out earning more for him. er, THEM.

Heh, there's an earlier post where the guys at NC flat out SAID that they'll be adding in personal hideouts for heroes. Heh, now I gotta start up an Ice Tanker. They'll be really popular as an ice cube source for hero parties.

Masterminds are pretty neat at parties - all the minions in different areas, playing music!

So...what exactly is my motivation for playing in SG mode? I'm not exactly an "SG HOO-RAH" type. My primary desire is inf to buy SOs. Anything my SG can get past that is irrelevant gravy to me. So, why should I ever enter into SG mode when SG mode shortchanges me?

To rotate objects, you can also "R" key when the item is selected. That seems to be the easier way, actually.

Because the amount of Prestige you earn is listed on the SG roster and you don't want them to boot your butt?
My last group had a snazzy base name. There should be a way
He has a batmobile, batarangs, and the bat dance. But I get your point. Still it would be nice to call your base something cool.

Please let us spend influ on it instead of prestige. Make my misering away influ through the levels worth something and so that I won't be dipping into SG coffers to make my Hero/Villain pad.
Why didn't we get an sg bank before now? And wth did we not get one as a feature in cov!? It's bad enough they just screwed over older sg'd and bigger sg's where prestige is concerned, it's bad enough we've been 50 for a year or more and they haven't added jack for us, it's bad enough we've been nerfed repeatedly with no end in sight, but why couldn't we have a bank!? We've been asking for an sg bank and a max sg member raise forever, but oh yeah i forgot devs don't ever listen to players.
To make matters even worse you can only carry 20 copies of an idividual salvage item before it's maxed. For the love of god why? Not giving us enough prestige wasn't bad enough? Now we have to waste salvage cause some idiot on the developing team(most likely statesman) didn't think that a storage unit or "bank" would come in handy? I realize the focus of the game has been how can we screw long time subscribers this month, for quite some time; but dear god can we get any love? I would love to be in one of these dev meetings. Castle ( someone who has actualy played several MMO's unlike states) has got to be just shaking his head everytime Jack opens his mouth. I see castle if not all of the other devs hitting the bar afterwards and talking about how Jack needs to go back to pen and paper games and leave the MMO's to ppl who know what they are doing.

Q7: How does Rent work?
A7: Rent is a regressive "tax" on the total value of assets belonging to your supergroup. Once bases are enabled, your group will face a regular (as of this writing, it's not clear wether it's biweekly or monthly) tax on your assets. This tax must be paid at the same contact you used to register your supergroup. The assets used for calculating this tax include not just what you own in your base, but also "banked" Prestige as well! The tax rate begins at 1%, and increases to a maximum of around 3.5% at a gross amount of Prestige (170million).

Great FAQ - thanks.
Just so I can get this straight in my head, is the cost of maintaining a base basically between 1% and 3.5% of the total amount your base is worth (plus any prestige), per two weeks (or whatever the period ends up being)?
So a larger (and/or secure) plot will cost you more rent, on top of the initial cost of upgrading the plot?
There doesn't seem to be a way to know what your Gross assets are for an SG - all you can see is what's left.
Kinda makes it hard to pre-plan for the rent...
I'd like to sit in on the dev meetings too, but I can't say I'm getting the same vibe you are. Although, I think it IS set up rather like the chain of command in the Freedom Phalanx: everybody listen to States, Poz and Manticore are something like the second-in-command types, Sister Psyche (or at least, somebody) is telepathically (over textmessages, passed notes, etc.) telling jokes the whole time, Synapse (or somebody) is actually cracking jokes, and Siege (or somebody) is fascinated how a business meeting can turn into something like that. The only thing I REALLY see them progessively nerfing is soloing. They said they'd never force us to team...which in a sense is still true...but the incentive to team up just to SURVIVE seems to get greater with every issue. The higher your level, the greater the incentive. (*shrugs*) Still arresting, mentoring, answer the dumb questions, and having fun [am I]!

I'm no master builder, and we're probably going to have to wait for Poz or another dev to confirm this, but I think there is a spot that tells you the total value of the base. When you first go into edit mode in your secret entrance, you'll see the room description window (with tabs for lighting and info). In the "info" tab is a spot to show you the total value of the base.
Now, I didn't have enough prestige when I started building to do more than lay down three rooms on a tiny plot..., and my value ended up being 0 by the time I was done (come on Part Timers, lets get some more prestige so we can upgrade our plot!!). My assumption is, however, that once we have more items in the base our total value will grow, and we can pre-plan the rent based on that.
Ahhh thanks so much for this. I have been struggling to figure this all out. We currently have a base, table, control console, generator etc, but have been unable to get off the ground and start building stuff with Salavage.
I will have to refer our head architect here to take a look.
Cheers!
Man that really sucks. No influence when in SG mode at 35 and it decreases after like 20. I BARELY have enough to keep my enhancements up now and I'm lvl 14. I think I'm going to have to quit the SG until I can bank up a bunch of Influence. I guess I'll see you guys in a SG when I'm about 50.

Remember, you don't have to quit the SG, just not be in Supergroup Mode. It is a toggle button under the UI for Supergroups.
When you hit about 45 you have all the influ you need, normally if you sell correctly, just SG in early levels, and then again in later levels.
If i go back to the Hero side, I plan to pay any 20-40th level people some of my millinos of influ to stay in SG mode as they level. Its probably a much better exchange rate than the laughable conversion the SG contact gives you for Prestige for Influ.
quick question
If someone quits the sg, does the sg still have that prestige, or do we lose it?
(example: I create an alt, kill things like crazy to level 10 to earn prestige, then delete him and repeat)

Earned prestige (as opposed to the "kickstart" prestige) belongs to the supergroup, not the player. If they quit, all the prestige that they earned for that SG remains.
