  1. Soooooo...when do we get the stuff? Where can I see it? How do I know it's there? (Existentialist greed.)
  2. I realize that "Who Will Die?" has been out a while now, but I still don't see the need to reveal the second major plot point of WWD in the overview. I'm bummed because I just happened to read the Issue 23 overview right before I was about to logon and play pt. 6 where the revealed plot point takes place. If spilling the beans isn't necessary, don't do it.
  3. I forgot it was one day before the Statesman Loyalty Program period was about to expire, and I cancelled my VIP status -- but my account is still VIP through 4/26, so does that mean I'll still get the Program loot?
  4. Thanks, everyone! Another quick question: Can F2P players be invited to play an SSA, or do all the members of an SSA task force have to be VIP players?

There are still two more Episodes to go in this SSA, right? Any word on release dates? My subscription is coming due pretty soon, and I want to make sure I at least finish out this SSA both hero- and villainside.
  6. I have a level 45 Hero but no level 40+ Villains. If I change my Hero's alignment to Vigilante, will I be able to go to the Rogue Isles and play Villain-side SSAs? Or do I have to go full Villain?
  7. Right, the minimum for the whole arc. But I'm betting that parts 6 and 7 require level 40, the way it's going. (Sigh)...and with the timetable it appears I'll have to buy another month of subscription time to play out the whole arc (my sub is up 3/28). That's okay, though...at least I'll get the Statesman Loyalty package!
  8. Just wondering if all the episodes of "Who Will Die" are out yet. Also, what's the min level you need to be to play through the whole arc? I've got a level 45 hero, so no problem there I'm sure, but my Stalker is still in his 20s.

Didn't think about that, but I think I can safely keep myself to one hero and one villain for a good long while. I created them to play out all the hero and villain content I could (cutting off XP gain where necessary so as not to outlevel content). I've got a couple of guys on the Going Rogue side, too, but I can leave them alone till I'm ready to get back to them and just purchase the slots at that time.

Lucky for me I never created any, even after they dropped the requirement to lvl 20. (6 years of playing and I still don't have any 50s. I always thought they should have dropped the requirement to 40, though, since you get a cape at 20, auras at 30, Incarnate stuff at 50, but really nothing at 40.)

You can't see the unlocks on the Rewards tree unless you're Premium, which is mildly annoying.
    Indeed.

Good -- as long as it's not just me. I thought maybe I was missing something, not hovering over the right icons, whatever. Thanks!

    Proof of perqs?

I've been told that because I've been a player for so long (Tier 8 VIP), that when my subscription expires next year I'll still have access to Mission Architect, Inventions, purchasable ATs (e.g., Controllers, Masterminds), etc. -- basically everything except Signature Arcs and Incarnate content.

But where can I actually see this for a fact? I was looking at the Paragon Rewards tree, and I don't see anything there that says I'm getting all these things. Is there somewhere else I can look to confirm this?
  12. Great. My sub runs out March 26, and I had no plans to renew since (1) I've been a veteran so long that according to what I've heard the only thing I'll miss out on is Incarnate and Signature content, and (2) I've never gotten a character to level 50 yet so I won't miss the Incarnate content.

So, yes, I'd definitely like to see some more concept art so that I can determine whether this stuff is worth paying an extra $15 to extend my sub a measley month.
  13. Nah, can't, have errands to do tonight. I'll just have to catch it next year. No big deal, since it's available to F2P'ers (which is what I'll be once my sub expires).

    Summer Event

Totally agree: Opening up a seasonal water-based zone with swimming, surfing, and sharks sounds awesome (totally awesome). Plus it would give the Coralax an opportunity to shine in their element.
  15. I'd been putting off getting into the Halloween Event, and then this week a friend of mine went into the hospital with pneumonia, so I ended up missing it altogether. Was it any better this time around? I was disappointed I didn't get to go on the haunted house mission -- sounded pretty cool. Oh, well, maybe next year.

Right, but if there were no-base Squads (in addition to SGs, which could be either base or no-base), then you would know just looking at a Squad that this was "group type A" (those who form a group of people to play) vs. "group type B" (those who form a group of people possibly to play but also possibly to afford the base upkeep) and could make an immediately-informed choice about whether that group is the kind you want, rather than having to first join and then find out by experience.

But, whatever. Not detecting a lot of enthusiasm. Carry on...nothing to see here...move along....
  17. Hnh. Could have sworn it was one of the first ones, but maybe they changed it and I didn't notice. I don't know of anything on the Villain side they could have run at the same time as a counterbalance, anyway. (Although any excuse for a new 10-15 Villain zone is a good thing IMHO.) Okay, enough with the waiting, then. Thanks!
  18. That sounds pretty good, actually. No TM characters created yet, and in 6 years of playing CoH I've yet to get a single character up to 50 thanks to my short attention span, so it's not like I'll be missing out on the Incarnate stuff. Worst case I'll spend a little money to open up some of my old characters.

Well, by the same token, the creation of Squads would have *zero* effect on SGs, right? So this isn't about depriving anybody of anything.

But where I think it would help would be in figuring out what groups to join. For example, used to be when I joined an SG it was by the invitation of someone I was playing with, and there would be all these other players in the SG near my level who were online more often than not. Fun city. Now I join an SG and it's usually because somebody made a random call-out to scoop up n00bs for the Prestige bonus, and now I'm in an SG half made up of alts and top-heavy with lvl 50s. It's gotten to the point that I just turn down SG invitations because I can't rely on them to actually be there for me. I would think that with Squads at least I'd know, "Okay, here are a bunch of *players*, not just placeholders for Prestige." Squads would get the "corruptive influence of money" out of group theory and let some groups be just groups, the way it used to be.

I don't know, maybe I'll form my own SG someday and see what happens. But I'd sure like it if there were some way to immediately differentiate the "for prestige profit" SGs from the "players wanted" SGs. I just thought having Squads in addition to SGs would be a good way to do that.
  20. When my subscription runs out next year I will have been Tier 9 for a couple of months. Currently I don't intend on renewing. Other than Signature Arcs, what will I lose access to once my subscription shuts down? Incarnate Trials? Mission Architect? Invention Enhancements? Some things I hear you get from being high enough on the Tiers, so I'm not sure exactly what I stand to lose.

    New idea: Squads

A little background: I played CoH before there were bases, and one thing I miss about the good ol' days is how Supergroups were back then. There was no such thing as Prestige, no worries about base upkeep and having all the l33t3st base equipment. Supergroups were just groups of people who liked to play together. If you played often enough with the same people, maybe you'd form a group or be invited to a group. But now it's people making random "join my SG" announcements, trolling for people to bump up Prestige, and in a single SG there might be 75 members but only 10 actual active players -- heaven forbid you kick out a placeholder and lose the Prestige bonus (if I understand this correctly).

So I was thinking, what if we had an option to create Squads instead of Supergroups? Squads would be just like the old-style SGs. No bases, no prestige, just a group of people having fun together. Have the same basic SG functionality for Squads that existed back in the old days, including "squad costumes" and titles. But don't make SG and Squad membership mutually exclusive. (Wolverine is in both New Avengers and X-Men, after all.) Don't have Squad mode interfere with SG mode. Allow the user to wear either squad colors or SG colors at will. (And while you're at it, please make playing in SG mode and wearing the SG colors two different options -- same for Squads.)

Or do people already go low-rent on some SGs already? Seems to me it would be hard to do a low-rent SG today given all the l33t SGs already in existence.
  22. It was once. Is it still? Haven't seen it on the rotation since the one time it appeared (IIRC). If it's not, I'm cool with that. It's just that I've got a couple of toons waiting for the next WST-go-round because in the past I've had a hard time getting 8 people for the Cavern Trial. (Or is getting 8 no longer a problem?)
  23. After CoH Freedom started, I created a new toon and claimed all my character-specific email items to that character, not realizing that character-specific meant...well...character-specific. (Duh.)

Some of the items I claimed were the Going Rogue Preorder Enhancements, which I did not even know about before now. I slotted all 5 enhancements to that toon I created, so he's good to go.

Question: Will those 5 enhancements appear for any new character I create from now on, or will those enhancements only exist for that character until they are destroyed or sold or otherwise gotten rid of in some way? I'm hoping I didn't burn through those enhancements for good already.
  24. Since Freedom went live I've been having issues with missing letters in the text of my mission screen and the text of my contact screen no matter what tab: active, inactive, tips, etc. For example, if mission instructions say, "Find the treasure chest," about every third or fourth letter will be missing so that it looks like "Fi d the reas re c es". Sometimes it's so bad I can't figure out what my tip or contact wants, or what the mission instructions are at all. Anyone else seeing this?
  25. Just played the mission Villain-side with my level 22 Stalker. Had a *much* better time. (Previously I played Hero-side on my level 10 Scrapper.) I loved getting the speed and powers of Synapse, and the ambushes were far more manageable. Also, being a Stalker, I was able to creep up and do an Assassin's Strike on Statesman! Yeah, I faceplanted a half-second later, but that was so worth it. I think I'm going to run the arc one more time, stand in the middle of the Phalanx, and hit Self-Destruct just to see what happens!

Then I'll go back to Hero-side and play the mission again from that perspective, see if it's any better now that I know what to expect.
