Just promote Desdemona to take the empty space in the Freedom Phalanx- or will she be moving to Praetoria on a permanent basis once the war is over?

And add Scirocco to the Vindicators to replace Malaise

Having the PC take the place of Statesman is how this game should have proceeded from the very beginning.

But it's not going to happen that way.

Of course it's not - it'd wreck the meta-storyline

There seems to be a Masssive misspelling in the thread title... >_>

Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges

The extra "s" makes it cooler. Or more masssive. Or something.

That being said, I nominate my namesake, Aett Thorn, for Statesman's replacement.

Actually, Devs, I have something to consider for you: A death like this would likely shake the entire Freedom Phalanx to the core. I know that it would be even harder to do in many ways, but what if several members quit? Statesman is likely the glue for the team.

Would Manticore stay as part of the group, or strike out on his own? Would Positron give up the life of a hero to focus on creating inventions for the benefit of mankind? Would the Dream Doctor come back to try to pull the team back together?

A signature death, especially when its the leader of your team, likely would have far-ranging impacts on the whole team. Could we get a decent amount of replacements needed?

There is no meta storyline. Not any more. The "CoH Bible" was designed as such, and intended to be a living document. But with the layoffs during the dark times, and all the staff cycling, its just a propriety secret wiki which the game itself has eclipsed.

Certain rednames have outright said that various story lines will remain unresolved because the staff members associated with those story lines have left Paragon Studios.

I applaud PS for trying to pick up the ball with respect to the "meta-storyline" of the game, but we need to be realistic. The original plan is gone. They are (and have been) starting over again, for better or for worse.

We need to promote someone from within the Freedom Phalanx to be the new leader, but that will still leave a hole to be filled. We have plans to fill that hole with a character submitted by a community member in a contest. We did this prior to launch and picked Numina to be one of the Surviving Eight, and we'd love to do this sort of thing again. We'll have more details on that in the coming months, but suffice it to say that your character has a chance at making into the official game lore as a member of Paragon City's signature supergroup.
Sounds like fun

I nominate Xanatos.

Failing that; I suggest the dev team narrow it down to 10 candidates and let people vote.

...for me.

Scirocco will never be a hero. He's cursed to always do the wrong thing (even if he tries to do something good, it'll end being bad) for stealing the mantle.
I think Desdemona fits better in the Vindicators.

I already have an entry idea for this contest, whenever it would be announced.

However, without any details... I'd rather make something completely new, than nominate one of my alts and risk having it become exclusive company property.

There are still two more Episodes to go in this SSA, right? Any word on release dates? My subscription is coming due pretty soon, and I want to make sure I at least finish out this SSA both hero- and villainside.

The next one will be in February, and the final one in March - and then the 2nd volume starts in April.

Not to burst everyone's bubble but State's lawyer will be making a statement that I am to inherit his mantle....I've seen the will!

All the people voting for themselves have already forfeited the place.

The Freedom Phalanx is so humano-centric, AND they have all the hero archetypes represented EXCEPT kheldians.

Why, lookie here! My avatar/main just happens to be an alien warshade. Imagine that...

Statesman has fallen.
Dark powers rise.
Mot awakens.
The Well of the Furies hungers.
The Storm is upon us.

One man, steeped in ancient magick and steadfast will, is ready to bear the burden. For today, for tomorrow, for ALL tomorrows, a beam of light to burn away the darkness, forever.
