Discussion: Massively interview: What happens after the fall of Statesman?
If anyone can take up the mantle of Statesman... It must be that loveable PR mess that is Ascendant!
Just keep Saul away xD
"What counts is not what sounds plausible, not what we would like to believe, not what one or two witnesses claim, but only what is supported by hard evidence rigorously and skeptically examined. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." - Carl Sagan
The Freedom Phalanx is so humano-centric, AND they have all the hero archetypes represented EXCEPT kheldians.
Why, lookie here! My avatar/main just happens to be an alien warshade. Imagine that... |
Or I have some inv/ss tanks that are sufficiently incarnated/io'd that for RP purposes were mentored by Statesman and could fill the gap in the Phalanx
New Freedom Phalanx member/leader

Statesman: tanker
Citadel: blaster
Manticore: defender
Numina: controller
Positron: defender
Sister Psiche: controller
Sypanse: blaster
Not an actual member, but usually depicted like that:
[Back Alley Brawler: tanker]
They did not have scrappers. Now they also miss tankers.

Ms. Liberty: ma/inv "scrapper"
He also said his official title was "Dr. Turgenev, Ph.D, MS, OSS, DD, LOLBBQ, Prince of the Realm of Turgmenistan, Defender of the Holy Order of the Rabid Lemur, CPA".
Most likely there will be no Freedom Phalanx. Statesman is dead, Psyche is in a coma and Manticore is busy helping her get well. If the Phalanx stays then they'd have to make some serious roster changes. The only person to take a leadership role would probably be Positron (( coincidence?)), but maybe they might promote Ms. Liberty.
They've also said they're going to look into possibly having a contest to have players vote on a new member.
Main Hero: Chad Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1396 Badges
Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges
Mission Architect arcs: Doctor Brainstorm's An Experiment Gone Awry, Arc ID 2093

I'd vote for SteelClaw if it meant getting him to come back...
Maestro Mavius - Infinity
Capt. Biohazrd - PCSAR
Talsor Tech - Talsorian Guard
Keep Calm & Chive On!
Why does everyone want to replace him so early? Why not let the Freedom Phalanx shatter and make a story of it? Seriously, I've been thinking Sister Psyche is in coma, Manticore -Who was kind of a lone warrior to begin with- is taking care of her. Synapse is not a leader type, Citadel neither. Maybe Positron will try to keep it together, maybe even get Back Alley Brawler back. Pretty sure Numina will stick around, Synapse will probably be depressed or somthing. So... Wouldn't this be the perfect timing for Lord Recluse to make a move? Why isn't he going in to decimate the remains of the Freedom Phalanx and shove the Vindicators away? I'm pretty sure he can, I also assume that Lord Nemesis isn't going to sit around and let the moment pass, or any other villain. I honestly think it would be more exciting that the heroes get defeated and make an epic return or somthing like that.

Because with Darren Wade running around with Statesman's powers and the knowledge of how to kill an Incarnate, it's smarter for him to keep out of the way until the current threat has been eliminated. (I'd imagine Recluse is also somewhat occupied with the events taking place in the Spring Fling event.)
But other than the fact that we know that the Freedom Phalanx isn't going away and is getting at least one new member in the near future, we don't yet know how the next two chapters of the current story arc will play out, nor what comes beyond. It is entirely likely that we'll see some new blood in both the hero and villain factions trying to take advantage of the new power vacuum.

Also Wade does state in part 5 that he is going after Sister Psyche as well, and the title of the story is WHO Will Die?...not ONE Will Die. Perhaps another vacancy is going to occur?
You know, I had a thought -- perhaps the newest member of the Freedom Phalanx won't be a player; it will be the player.
When phasing was introduced it made (relatively) minor changes to outdoor areas; with Issue 21.5 it became a major mechanic of the MoM iTrial. It's wouldn't surprise me if the Devs used phasing (or something like it) for this as well.
Not only is he a real doctor, he's a dashing special agent with a Ph.D. in KICKING YOUR ***!

Well, now that they've (at least temporarily, you never know with comics) killed off Sister Psyche, things are more up-in-the-air than ever....
Given the developments with Sister Psyche and also being partially responsible for the death of State's daughter, I wonder if they aren't going to do some arc where Manticore descends into darkness and either becomes a villain or gets pretty close to it. He's walked that line so many times, and now there are sufficient developments to finally push him over that edge. Or he might see heroes and villains as the problem and just try to eliminate them all.
Coming back out of the woodwork after a couple years away from the game...
Is Statesman still going to show up in Reculse's Victory? As far as concerns for badge-related stuff.
