Describe your typical playing experience these days.
Normally I'm able to get on between 9-1am EST, mostly grinding Incarnate stuff on my one and only level 50 while helping a new friend get into the game. I play a few other characters, but about 90% of my time right now is trying to get my last tier 3 finished and my tier 4 Alpha done. Mostly running speed flashback arcs in DA, but have been lucky enough to find a couple of great Itrial groups on some weeknights.
Of the content that is considered relatively new, what is your most favorite?
Probably the Cimmerora part of the new DA arc, it was kind of fun to go back and see some of the history and find out how Mot got to DA in the first place, also the bit about who the Sentinel turns out to be.
When do you play?
Mostly Thursday-Sunday nights from 9pm-1am or later, EST, later especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
What timeframe seems to be the most active on the server in your estimation?
No idea since I'm really only on at the late hours, though there does seem to be a lot of activity on Friday nights in general.
What's going on "IRL" lately?
Work, work, work, that's sadly about it. -
Would love to join tonight but there is a birthday in the family so we will be out late. So sorry I missed Posi last week, had a family emergency come up last minute. Hopefully I can jump back on a normal gaming schedule and rejoin you guys soon!

HAHA, I just realized what I had there...that was totally supposed to be scream, wow talk about a typo, lol.
-
Quote:Yeah honestly I just want the nice boosts from the Vigor T4 for my emp/rad, I doubt I'll even attempt tier 4 with any of the other slots as it just looks like way too much work. My biggest problem is now I have all the materials needed for every one of my T3 slots except the rares and it's been a slow grind trying to get enough threads/components to make those and I have absolutely zero luck when it comes to the reward tables, especially on the flashback arcs. If Heather gives me one more common I'm going to scream, lol.I wait until the Very Rare drop on me or I curse the living daylight out of NPC. I avoid using astral merits and empyrean merits. But seriously i usually wait until the very rare drop or start collecting the rare and combine them.. although it may take a while since there isnt a huge difference between tier 3 to tier 4.
-
I just wish there were more frequent trials, as of now I only need rare components to finish out all my tier 3s and I've been having crap luck running the DA flashback arcs in terms of components. I always get commons or if I'm lucky an uncommon. I'm at the point I'm all stocked up on those all the way up to make the first 2-3 Alpha enhancements needed to create my tier 4, lol.
Seems I have had a lot better luck running BAF and Lambda in getting the rare components. -
They are posted up in the forums most of the time and there is an Infinity Incarnates channel, but I hardly ever see them being formed unless they are announced ahead of time on the forum. Normally Friday nights and Saturdays around midday appear to be the popular times.
As for in zone on the server, I rarely see requests or trials forming and I am normally on just about every week night from 9pm-1am. A shame really, I'd love to run more BAF or Lambda trials, especially trying to get components for my incarnate powers but they just never seem to be forming. -
Quote:Interesting, I could of sworn I was getting shard drops in BAF the other night, but maybe it was threads and I just wasn't paying attention, it was pretty chaotic in there.I sorta skipped all around your original question, sorry 'bout that
I crafted some alpha tiers with shard components on my first incarnate including T3. I have never used shards for T4, because in my experience, it's just faster to build using threads and thread components. I really don't use shards now, I convert them to threads.
Edit: Remember, you do not get shards in iTrials, only threads and thread components. This may make a difference in which path you pursue.
Thanks for the input, it just seems that it's a huge number of threads required to buld the T4 components and I wasn't sure if that was a good way to go. -
Quote:Yeah I am mainly focused on the level shifts right now. Just got my +1 last night completing Alpha Tier 3 and I have all the components required to make all of my T3 powers, I'm just missing the rare components for each. All slots are already unlocked and at tier 2 save for Alpha which I just upgraded to 3 last night. Lore and Destiny are my next two in terms of focusing on the rares so I can get to +3 for DA and trials. I have tried to go with incarnate powers that best suit my build as a defender/buffer, using Lore and Judgement for a little more damage to help with soloing because soloing on an Emp is like pulling teeth sometimes.IMO, the first thing you should concentrate on is getting level shifts. The shifts are more beneficial and important than any T4. As Hopeling pointed out, there isn't a huge difference between T3 and T4. Components are harder to come by in DA than running trials so it becomes important to plan out your build to stock up on the components you'll need for destiny and lore; that's even if you don't currently have the slots open. I was pleasantly surprised at the rate of iXP you can earn in DA, it's not bad, so opening slots in DA is reachable in a reasonable time frame. Also, I would T3 interface and judgement before working on any T4, including alpha (Lore before Alpha isn't a bad idea either). I have only one character fully T4'ed out and maybe 3 others with T4 anything and I enjoy all of them.
So - It really depends on what you want from your build, your playstyle and character. This is the pattern that I worked out for my builds on any new incarnate, whether using the new DA or running iTrials.
Edit: I will state that my preference is to run iTrials cause I actually enjoy them, but the new DA is pretty fun.
BAF has seemed to be the best for me in terms of getting better components and good drops in terms of shards and merits.
Mainly I'm just looking to see how others have gone about getting their T4 components, in terms of the shards vs. threads for creating the final components. Just to get an idea of time frame on each, but I understand it's a lot of work either way. To me it just seems a little easier to run trials for shards and merit drops or Task Forces for shard drops than trying to accumulate threads through repeatables and DA missions/reward tables. From going over all the stuff I'm going to need for T4 Alpha, it looks like the shard path is the easier route. -
Just curious to see how you went about crafting your tier 4. I sat down last night and was looking at the progression to re-creating the Alpha enhancements to get my 2nd revamp enhancement to make my final Tier 4 and came across that you can use threads for some of the components if you don't want to go the entire Shard/Notice of the Well etc. route.
Has anyone tried this? Honestly when looking at the components needed if you do try to use threads for some of the enhancements instead it just looks like way too much work. Example, you can use a Thaumatic Resonator(threads) instead of trying to get a Favor of the Well to create your T4, but after looking at it, it boils down to something like 500+ threads needed to make the components to create it, or 30 Empyrean Merits.
Thankfully I had enough Shards and Threads saved up from everything I've done so far to basically re-create the first two Alpha enhancements needed, and about halfway through the 3rd, just need the rare component or a Notice of the Well to finish, but I'm just curious to see how long it took some of you to gather the components needed for the 4th tier and what route you chose in terms of threads/shards. I expect this will probably take awhile, given the fact I've yet to get anything but 2-3 uncommons in terms of the component rewards from trials and flashback arcs from Ouroborus, still waiting to get a rare or very rare.
Overall I just don't see much benefit in trying to get everything to T4 given the amount of time it will take, except for maybe my Lore slot. I have everything else at T2 now and just waiting on rare components to finish up my Tier 3s. -
Another good way to grind threads and components for Incarnate is to run Heather's arc from DA in flashback mode from Ouroboros. You can basically fly through the 1st and final mission in the arc, with only the 2 in the middle requiring defeats that you need to work for. I've got it down to 21 minutes for the entire arc. You can run it 3 times choosing a different reward each time so in one hour you can earn 10 threads, a random component, and either 2 Astral or 1 Empyrean merit. Then you can run 1 mission from Epharm Shaw(repeatable contact in DA) for 10 more threads and that might take 5-10 minutes, so in about an hour you can get 20 threads, a component, and the mentioned merit(s) which you can trade in for shards or threads. If you have Windfalls, save them for DA(threads) and Task Forces(for shard drops).
Also found that BAF and Lambda yield a ton of Incarnate drops if you are using Windfall and they are both relatively short if you have a good league, around 30 minutes each. You also get the selectable reward table at the end and I believe there is no cooldown timer on this as I have chosen a component almost every time.
I've got all my slots unlocked, T2 in everything but Alpha, which I have T3 in already, and it only took me about 2 weeks of playing 1-2 hours 3-4 nights a week plus one task force/strike target to get my notice for my T3 Alpha, and all that from running through the entire DA story once and then just speed running Heather's flashback arc.
Also if you can run enough trials or get a bunch of threads it's almost easier IMO to just buy your slots open with the Incarnate XP under threads. -
I can join with my emp/rad, Emerald lass. Just got my +1 level shift tonight and I'm mainly there for buffs and heals so if that works for you guys I'll help out.
-
@shukis23
Will be there with Emerald Lass(emp/rad) again, especially now that I need shards by the truckload for my T4 Alpha, lol. -
3 Runs this week so far.
2 Heather "Flashback" from Ouro - 2 Common
1 Mu'Vorkan "Flashback" form Ouro - 1 Uncommon -
Quote:Have noticed the same thing with Windfall and not getting ANY drops for several missions.Ive noticed a few bugs of late.
Pet AI is still screwed to buggery. My pets will either have epileptic fits, be totally uncontrollable, or just stand there scratching their butts.
Umbra Wolf wont shut up
Toons have started to do a leg sweep attack when getting the Mystic Fortune Buff
When completing an iTrial, the navigation bar containing the exit button vanishes. When its brought back, the Exit button is missing meaning that I have to quit the league to leave the mission.
Drop rates whilst using the Windfall power seem to be less than you would get without it. There have been occasions where I havent received any drops for 3 to 4 missions whilst using windfall.
Several costumes have clipping issues.
The navigation bar points to a completely different location than the actual highlighed mission.
PLEASE concentrate on fixing the bugs rather than popping out vanity pets, converters and catalysts every 2 seconds!
Also my Lore Pets don't seem to be doing anything. They just stand around and do not attack unless I am literally right up like 3" from the mob, even my ones with ranged abilities.
Lady Jane is acting crazy on the first Midnighter Arc from Montague. Ran this 2-3 times this week on different toons on a couple of teams and every time after we rescued her she ran around and aggro'd the entire damn cave, even running the opposite direction of where we were going to aggro several mobs and bring them back to us. Guess doing her best dual pistols tanker immitation.
Would really like to see the belts in Terra Volta fixed, I'm not sure what is more annoying at this point, that, or the fact that they still made the respec trial the weekly strike target and the last and most important part of it is bugged.
One other item I didn't see in the last few pages, when you go to the tailor and try to edit a current costume, it switches your "head" to the default mode and you have to re-apply your costume pieces and re-pay for them before you can make changes to the costume. So for example if you just want to put new shoulders on your costume, you end up having to re-do your entire mask, details, face, etc. and pay for it as well. -
Quote:Awesome, I knew about the Well, actually tried to run Terra Volta this evening, found out much to our dismay that the coolant belts are bugged and do not heal the reactor...was not happy to say the least so guess I will have to wait till next week to get my Notice and make my tier 3 Alpha.Any time an incarnated character defeats an enemy who cons higher than gray, that enemy has the potential to drop an Incarnate Shard. [Exception: enemies defeated in the new Dark Astoria drop Incarnate Threads instead of Incarnate Shards.] Even if the enemy is lower than level 50. For that matter, even if the incarnated character is exemped down to less than 50.
For instance, if Emerald Lass was running a Posi TF and exemped down to level 15, the enemies could still potentially drop Incarnate Shards.
Now, in this case, since Numina is the Weekly Strike Target, completion of the TF will also award a Notice of the Well Incarnate Component.
Looks like they are aware of the issue since I now see it in known issues, but you would think they would change the weekly ST to something besides Terra Volta if they know it's bugged. -
@Shukis23
I'm in again, either with my MA/Regen Scrapper Action Girl or my Emp/Rad Emerald Lass, will be decided before we run hopefully, lol.
Do the normal TFs offer Incarnate rewards if you run them with a 50? I can't remember off the top of my head. If that is the case I will def. be bringing Emerald. -
Would join in Saturday night, but I am still working on my first level shift and don't want to be a hinderance to the team.
-
I'll be bringing my MA/Regen Scrapper, Action Girl
-
Quote:Yeah I figured it was more to do with the group make-up. We had two emp/rads(myself included) so there is no way we should have been dying as much. The other emp was just hovering with auto-heal aura going and not even attacking or buffing so that pretty much explains it. I also don't think anyone understood that if you were standing on the arrows during the airstrike, you were going to get torn to shreds. To add to the fun, I'd like to run this with Two Moons (my new MM) and could be on around 7ish Pacific..... IF people wanted to run one around then.
And no offense intended to the PUG, but I have seen the final fight go a couple ways, and mostly not that bad. -
Quote:I really would like to see a "radiation armor" tank/brute/scrapper set, actually been hoping for this for several years. They could just use irradiate from the defender/blaster set for the taunt aura and convert some of the powers from Radiation and I think it would be pretty sweet. While this is entirely... speculation... I would definitely like to say that non-weapon sets are on the way.
- One's probably a proliferation; the artists won't have to do much.
- One will work great for those who love the outdoors.
- Spider-Man of all people had one once.
- They tried this one once before, but it didn't work.
- I can't think of the last one.
-
Ran a TF the other night with two Beast Mastery toons on our team and I just ended up turning the sound off and playing the game on mute. I understand the need for sound effects/animal noises, but not every 3 seconds.
-
None actually, I've never taken the time to set any up. I was spoiled the 4-5 years I played the game in having a SG where 7-10 people were on during the time I played, mostly between 7-11pm EST and we always teamed together. Now I mostly just team with a small group of 4-5 friends who are on about the same time as me, and who have another 2-3 friends they wind up bringing along and other then the occasional forum TF or event, I mostly solo.
I may actually get on the Incarnate's one though seeing as my main goal with my 50 right now is to get as many threads as possible and start working on getting my Alpha to tier 3/4. I already have 4 of 5 slots unlocked and most of the tier 1 enhancements already done to get her rounded out, now I need to grind for the level shift(s).
My global is @shukis23
Not sure if I will be on tonight much before 10pm EST but I know they've been looking for groups to do this the last few nights I've been on. I actually ended up getting on a team after posting this last night and honestly don't know if I'd run it again after that last boss fight. Either the PuG team wasn't that great or those last two guys are just a pain to defeat. Only took us an hour, but we had 38 defeats...on the last part. -
Anyone planning on running this before April 2nd? I'd love to do it this week, if anyone would like to try to set something up for an evening run.
-
Was actually waiting to see if anyone would mention Manticore as I think it's entirely possible it will somewhat focus on his descent into darkness after recent events. Partially or somewhat responsible for the death of Statesman's daughter, then having his wife die and having to be the one pulling the trigger. Given his past I'd say he's a prime candidate to go on some wild killing spree of both heroes and villains, blaming them for everything and seeking his own revenge for Psyche's death.
