Summer Event

With the Halloween event in full swing and the Winter Event right around the corner, I noticed that we're missing a season, Summer. We have Spring, Fall and Winter, but no summer event. Has this ever been suggested? Have a summer themed event. With the LFG tab we could have a special event where we save a beach from some attack. We have Lusca just bobbing about in Independence Port, why not let let her loose on some unsuspecting beach goers? Outside of the that though I'm stalling on what would be the outside event for it. Halloween has ToTing, Winter has Presents, and the Ski Chalet. Not sure what would be good for Summer. Maybe an extra-dimensional beach area accessed through Pocket D? Have a seashell collection salvage for trading in for Summer emotes like beach ball, or a surfing slide prestige sprint? Anyone else have any thoughts of what would make a good event or missions for a Summer event?

Posi said in one of the recent Ustreams that they have some great ideas for a summer event, they just need to find time in the schedule to actually make the darn thing. He didn't go into any more detail on what the ideas were though. But if it's half as good as the Haunted House, I'm sure I'd like it

Well that's awesome. Didn't think I was clever enough to have been the first one to think of something like that. I thought of something for it, a summer event should definitely involve fireworks! Well I suppose it's a matter of waiting and hoping they find time.

Yes indeed. And there was a bit of discussion with someone from the art team... I think it was Noble Savage... Where the Rocket Board was brought up as a possibility for including some surfing for a Summer Event (I think it was a player-made suggestion, so don't read too much into it, but I think there was a bit of back and forth... It was just a fun conversation and nothing should be counted on, but at least it wasn't met with a smackdown nor turn away and run by a red name, hehe!).

I like the idea of Lusca (or something else/new) attacking an instanced beach area... Maybe some SHARKS that can attack and be attacked?
Hehe... Maybe a Surf race course of some sort.
Hawaiian Shirts and Bermuda Shorts for costume rewards...
What else?


EDIT: Rescue bathers in the shallow water while they're surrounded by sharks during the first wave... Then maybe some evil shark controlling enemies show up (they were the cause of the attacking shark army!)... then the krakken, Lusca or whatever... Then Sally comes along and helps you take out the GM!

Awsome Idea for a Summer event

Well it isn't like they don't have plenty of things to draw from... Aion has a summer festival, takes place in a different world, and still they manage to make a plausible explanation for it. This game, after all, takes place in Paragon City in the United States, so an Independence Day celebration makes sense, but if we want to make it more thematically open for our non-US players, they could easily make it tied to some in-game lore such as the day the Rikti invasion was repulsed or something of that ilk (or possibly something even further back in the lore... something Primal and Praetoria would have in common so both worlds could/would celebrate it).

I'm totally on board with nightly fireworks displays... perhaps tied with some seasonal task force. Complete the task force and that nght, over some random city, you get fireworks. Maybe in the Rogue Isles, it could be sponsored by the Family/the Mooks for a change of pace... I mean, they aren't just thugs, these are supposed to be representative of a wealthy upper class in a manner of speaking. Who else but the wealthy would love for an excuse to be extravagant and show off their wealth?

Totally agree: Opening up a seasonal water-based zone with swimming, surfing, and sharks sounds awesome (totally awesome). Plus it would give the Coralax an opportunity to shine in their element.

It might be culturally ideal to have a Summer Vacation/Break School's Out! style summer event. There's nothing wrong with the six to eight weeks of having the summer away from school, and for heroes and villains it could mean taking a break after saving and ruining the day to go to the beach, play in the pool or harass tourists.

If you wanted to have low-art budget, you'd just need to find the beachiest looking places in Paragon, Rogue Isles and Praetoria and add some NPCs and events there.

What about Spanky's boardwalk in Talos? If there had to be a beach party that would be IDEAL a place to start in Paragon. Pocket D's Tiki room could have some summer things going on in there, if it's accessible to all. Port Oakes could have something going though it would have to try very hard to combat the dreary atmosphere of Villainside. No idea how Praetoria could pull it off as it's mostly concrete walls at the borders.

Otherwise, you'd have to build a Ski-slope sized zone of a tropical island, accessible by all to enjoy throughout the entire duration of the summer event. Such an event could last up to six weeks if it wants to match up the average 'summer vacation' duration.
