  1. I think it's the best community because it's like an awesome bar. You can stop by whenever you like, have a quick drink (mission) or party all night (TFs, trials and story arcs). There's great people to talk to while you do it, the owners (devs) might stop in to join you, and if you want you can try some home brews (AE).

Why is the CoH community the best one? Because we don't try to be anything we're not. Good people sharing enjoyment of a great game.
  2. I'll never forget back in i20 beta, I was playing Sheryl Fiero (AR/Dev/Munition Blaster) through one of my first BAFs (may have been the first). While running around during the first phase firing off my attack chain, I somehow landed on one of the War Walkers' shoulders, fired a burst into its back for a kill shot, and rode it down, hopping off just before it landed. It was a moment I've never been able to repeat (for all I know there's no way to land on them in the live version), but it struck me as classic Sheryl style and a perfect movie-quality sequence and made the BAF a favorite I-trial ever since.

You can sometimes strike gold with indie games on there. For example, anyone who's a fan of the 90's-era RPGs would get a kick out of "Cthulhu saves the world". And they're usually $10 or less.
  5. I think this covers it nicely...

Sorry, that's all I can come up with. Little burned out here.

All of you made this game so much more than a pastime. I'd be glad to stay in touch with y'all and find new outlets for our madness.
  7. Sweet, worked for me, too!

This actually is one of the best foundations for a RP SG I've ever seen. Who wants to take it?

    Break?

That's cool dude, take as long as you need. ME3 comes out next month.
  10. The truth is that the best set is the one you've learned to play. All the raw numbers and maxed out IO sets in the world will get you precisely nil until you take the time to play and learn which powers work at what times. I can play an AR blaster (a set known for low dps) and pull aggro off a tank. My WP tank typically won't fall to anything that doesn't con red or purple. Experience goes miles beyond your build.

In other words, close your browser, fire up the game, and forget the numbers. PLAY.
  11. I'm still trying to find the "Player Question" in this one...

I wouldn't call someone else's play style "wrong", per se, but I've got to agree that this might signal a good time to re-evaluate your technique.
  14. Not my main (although I did make a Praetorian version of her on Exalted who happens to use Beam Rifle instead of AR) but I did remake a character that was an homage to a LARP PC I used to play when Dual Blades came out. I did the same for a tabletop homage toon when shield def was released.

This as a reskin of teleport would be outstanding. Other CC emotes could work in a similar manner.

Looks like someone needs to get around to running the incarnate trials. Or at least look on Paragon Wiki and learn the canon that you don't feel like running.

I can think of a few examples from around the world of precisely that happening.

And Arachnos probably wouldn't have to worry about running out of money like they did.
  18. When you say "Lag", precisely what symptoms are you seeing? Rubber Banding? Recharge Latency? Reduced Framerate? Any of those could point to a different actual problem. Also, have you checked your memory usage? In Win 7, Ctrl-Shift-Esc will open Task Manager and the Process tab will show where your memory is being used.
  19. This thread probably belongs in the ALL ACCESS: City Life - CoH & CoV General Discussions board with the similar threads there. This board is more for gameplay issues, technical issues, or bugs, as the title should have explained.

    2. The only new pieces were the masks and sashes for females and the weapons (which are for male or female). The men in the CoL got re-colored Legacy Chain pieces and other bits already available in the costume creator.

    3. So why so female-centric when the Devs said they'd make things more equitable? Because these pieces were in the pipeline before that decision was made (they were made for First Ward). New costume pieces take months to make, and the schedule of the artists is tight (making stuff for Issue release, e.g.). New sets coming up: Fire & Ice, Elemental Order, Imperial China will have that gender equity.

    4. So why can't the male CoL be ported over to PCs? Because they physically can't. These are pieces originally made for NPCs and there is no way to 'port' them over in a way that works for clipping and scaling issues. NPC pieces have different geometries and different nodal hooks and different areas in which they mix and match. So, they would have to be re-created from scratch, which takes several months time.
    QFT.

Look folks, by the time this was packaged for Beta, the options were "Put it out as is and we'll work on the extra male parts in time" or "Shelve the whole set until we can match male options for it." Can you imagine the outcry if this didn't make it to the store because we had to wait for gender equality? Let's just let it slide and use the existing sets in game that make up 2/3 of the CoL male costume parts already for your male Carnies.

Precisely what I read. I22 set to ship before the end of March, as per Positron.
  22. I'd like to add that you apparently gain healing badge credit for the healing dealt to Anti-Matter in the Keyes Reactor trial when you are killed by the disintegration beam. I found this out the hard way, although it's not something I would recommend trying to farm.

It's kinda sad to say this but I'm not going to miss the old DA. It was a noble attempt but the idea that you enter a zone and look around and the entire world is just grey in every direction is just not good design.
From what I remember of the ustream broadcasts, not seeing WAS the ambiance. They actually said that the zone itself wasn't very interesting, and the extreme fog, disappearing citizens and low draw distance was pretty much all there was to it. In other words, the fact that you couldn't see anything covered up the fact that there wasn't a lot of interesting things to see.
