Seismic activity on the moon changed our tides!?!? Was this 'seismic activity' the moon breaking up into a ring around Earth?? How could... ok ok, fiction, suspend disbelief... go with it Zloth...
[/ QUOTE ]
Or a result of Maltheus spending too much time at the local City of Gyros. -

Heck, I feel sorry for the guy. A heartless justice system, overzealous and/or incompetent lawyers
[/ QUOTE ]
Most likely evil, evil lawyers. Remember all the signs promoting that lawyer on superhuman damage/injury claims? "Sue! Never Work Again!"
Devs, we need a Lawyer AT for the villains. -
Huh. I read the novel, and had the impression that it was the Positron armor that generated the anti-matter. That left me curious how you got turned into pure anti-matter during the Rikti war.
Just an after thought, if it's a natural power for you to generate anti-matter what could you do with it without the armor (prior to your ... disability)?
And have you met Dr. Null since the Rikti War? I have a feeling he'd gloat six ways to Sunday now that you effectively have the same curse as him. -

Was the "45-50" a quote from a redname, or was that an assumption for the new zone? I keep hearing all kinds of speculation, but no hard data.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, RV is level 40 to 50. This cold has my head all fogged up.

Hope you feel better soon, Positron. In the meantime I'll keep my bottle of iodine tablets handy just in case you sneeze. -

Or you could add a global friend with an opponent in a pvp zone, but it's hard to coordinate VG/SG battles when you only know one person in the opposing group.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or you can create a global chat channel and invite all of the interested parties to it.
I'm curious though, what possible exploits could there be to have an enemy in your friends list? I can't think of any, considering you can still talk to anyone via global chat/channels. -
It'd be neat to see some undercover missions, where heroes pretend to be villains in a story arc or two.

What's the word on how much more system resources these extra graphic features are going to take? I have what I thought was a fairly beefy system (ATI X700 card) and COH/COV (especially) chugs hard at times. I have most of the fancy graphics settings turned off and the game is on average just about the playable mark. Most COH missions are good, but I tend to avoid missions with the arachnos bases just because the framerate drops to 5-7.
Sorry if that is offtopic, but when I hear of the new graphics, the playability factor is the first thing that comes to mind. -

First...I confirm that we're working on right now (as in pohsyb in the next room) to add CoV costume parts into CoH if you own both games....
Then we repeal the hated stealth nerf. The reason why: many well reasoned posts. It's that simple. You guys pointed out the problems.
AND now...we're changing the way Archvillains spawn. A ton of forum goers disliked adding so many AV's into missions a while back...so we've come up with a solution. If the team size and mission difficulty are ABOVE a certain level, an Archvillain spawns. Below that, players will face only an Elite Boss. If the mission is set on the first two levels of difficulty, it takes 4 heroes or more to spawn an Arch Villain. On the third level, 3 heroes or more. On the fourth level, 2 heroes. On the highest (Invincible), a solo hero will spawn an AV. Note this works in BOTH City of Heroes and Villains.
In order to incentivize larger teams, Positron is going to add a bonus to AV rewards!
[/ QUOTE ]
Just to calrify: The Archvillain thing is ONLY for Mission AV's, Archvillains in Task Forces/Strike Forces and World Spawns will not be changed.
In City of Villains, Archvillain-class enemies are called "Heroes" and this change applies to them as well. (With the exception of Strike Forces and World Spawns of course).
[/ QUOTE ]
Very cool. I have just one thought though. And that's the use of the word "Heroes". When I hear "Heroes" I tend to think of other COH players, who are no where near as strong as say, Statesman or Positron. Why not give those guys a stronger sounding classification title, like "Superhero"? It's just that when I hear "Archvillain" that word just reverberates the point that this is a very strong opponent. Using the word "Hero" just doesn't convey that same intensity. If Marvel won't let you use "Superhero", then consider something like "Legendary Hero".
Just my 2 cents.
Also, does this change also affect villains like Tyrant, who are the baddest of the bad? -

In CoH Beta, players were able to push NPCs rather than the other way around. Quite reliably, players would then herd the NPCs all into a small area, causing AI issues and horrible server lag.
I hate being pushed around, too, but I don't believe it will change any time soon. (NOTE: I could be wrong!)
[/ QUOTE ]
I've been informed that whoever told me the above misinformed me (well, the language wasn't quite that polite.) In any case, the true reason appears to be physics collision checking (Players check collision, NPCs do not.)
I apologize for any confusion!
[/ QUOTE ]
Solution: Decrease the number of NPCs.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. The presence of the NPCs is what makes Paragon City come alive. If other heroes are all that we see, then we're just protecting a ghost town.
Keep the NPCs. -

You're wasting your time. Reason, fairness, and other silly things like that are foreign concepts to developers. Remember, such foes are the equivalents their characters, and they're not going to gimp their characters vs. the Enemy (players).

Just what is your avatar there? It looks like a vanilla colored Gumby! -
I have a feeling we'll be seeing the event end with the scene on the cover of the COV box: Lord Recluse manhandling a defeated Statesman, with the crowds on the rooftops (us villains) cheering down.
Can't wait! >What time will the event take place?

So will PvP fights in these zones attract the attention of nearby mobs? (To quote Groo the Wanderer, "A Frey!")

I havein't read it yet, who wants to destory who?

or
States wants to kill Lord R. for killing his Brother and Father?
EDIT *head explodes* /EDIT
[/ QUOTE ]
Lord Recluse was responsible for the killings. It wasn't his hand that did the deeds, but he orchestrated all of it.
Stefan (Lord Recluse) had a lot of jealousy towards Marcus Cole because he felt he wasn't getting the credit that he was due in the Cole Gang. When he drank from the Fountain of Zeus, he not only grew stronger in body, but also in mind. It also changed his perspectives.
I can't help but wonder if the water equally changed Cole's perspectives. He was an infameous thief after all; after drinking from the fountain he sort of took a 360 from that path. -

Wait Statesman had children?????

That sort of surprised me, too. Back to Paragon History 101 for me. -

States started out a criminal?

All the nerfs suddenly make sense. It's been my opinion for quite a while that they all were simply criminal.
Speaking of nerfs, I wonder if the nerf bat was one of the artifacts he might have found on the Isle of Vengeance.
Suddenly it all fits together. -

Defiance would give a boost in resistance or defense instead. I believe resistance would be more suitable, because of the ability to one-shot blasters. This would allow them to hang in battles a bit more before being defeated. I think it should scale in an appropriate manner, so that we get adequate protection as we fall in health.
At the 5% level I think it would be appropriate to have full status protection from mez affects as well. Im not certain exactly what mag levels each enemy hold is, but id say at 50% we receive that small mez resistance from the leaping pool, and have it scale in higher in mag level resistance as our health goes further down. Possible at 40% we receive a specific resistance, such as sleep, and at 30% we have resistance to confuse, etc. So when we reach that 5% level we achieve full status protection. This will make it so we arent overpowered, and we still have to be careful as to what we are fighting.
[/ QUOTE ]
If defense is what blasters need, then maybe the EPPs should be made available at level 32 instead of 41. Most if not all of the blaster EPPs have some sort of armor. -

Did anyone else look at Prometheus and think, "Why does Prometheus need a starship?"

I must have missed something. What's this about Torchy and starships? -
[ QUOTE ]
I guess Manticore wanted to prove he would shoot Statesman in the breastbone for some reason. Yeah! That'll learn him!
[/ QUOTE ]
The only reason that Manticore shot Statesman was to demonstrate to Prometheus that he was willing to side with him instead of "Zeus". Prometheus said that he would help those who weren't "friends of Zeus" and Manticore called him out on it. He didn't fire his arrow out for petty revenge, he was doing what he felt had to be done in order to get everyone powered up again.
Another thought -- Manticore looks an awful lot like the Darkness. Are they brothers? -
[ QUOTE ]
I absolutly love the last page of the comic where he **spoilers****spoilers*** shoots Statesman in the heart.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did he really shoot Statesman in the heart? It looked a little off center to me. I suspect that Manticore probably aimed his shot to miss the vital organs. The shot isn't fatal, but it still quite effectively puts Prometheus to task.
