Base Building/Base Raiding/Prestige Quick-FAQ
I'm new to base building so her's the Noob question for the day: I just crafter the Power Items necessary to fabricate a Teleport Pad. I'm in the process of placing the thing and I see that the Group Prestige, which was sitting at 5K and change when I started, is suddenly at -19K and change. I saw no mention that fabricating stuff costs Prestige so I figured I'd come here and see what was what.
I didn't buy anything for 20K while making the Teleport Pad did I? if so a notice would have been nice...
Just wondering where the Pres went so that next time I can budget for it. Thanks in advance for replies.

Teleporter pads cost 15k prestige to place. There is no cost associated with crafting on the worktable until you actually place what you've made (other than salvage).
Also, beacons cost 10k prestige to place as well.

Guide to Base Teleporters
Ok I read here somewhere that the amount of Pres does not always update quickly so I logged back in and headed for the Base Edit. Lo and behold there sat my Teleporter in my Personal list with the big red 15,000 under it and my remaining Pres of 5K and change. Obviously what happened was that buying the 'Porter and trying to place it tallied the cost which I did not have and the Pres counter simply hadn't updated by the time I saw it. NP now...just earn more Pres and place the Teleporter.
Ok...on to the next Nooblet question: Where and how do you get Teleport Beacons other than paying the 10K cost? I believe I heard something about having to go to the beacon site once or something but am not sure. Also, since each Teleporter can actually support 2 destinations (2 Beacons yes?) then a full Teleporter will cost 15K to buy and place as well as 20K for the two beacons?
Ah the discovery of new things! Also did my first Arena Battle tonight...what a blast!
As always help is appreciated.

You are mixing things a bit:
* Beacons will always cost you 10,000 prestige (until Cryptic decides to change the prices, which doesn't seem likely). If you sell a beacon you will get full price back.
* To get the ability to buy a particular beacon, you have to visit the zone's explore markers while in SG Mode. When you do that, your group will get a SG Explore badge for that zone. Getting the rights to be able to buy the beacon is free, but the beacon costs prestige to buy/place.
So, yes, a telepad and 2 beacons will cost 35K prestige to place.

Ok sorry if this has been covered before but my search-fu is weak...
Formed the SG. Bought the Teleport room. Crafted the Teleporter and got it to fit. Now I need to do the whole Beacon thing which is where I'm hung up.
How do you get beacons for the various zones?
I know it involves travel badges and such but not sure as to the specifics. I've never been a badge-hunter before so kinda lost here.
Also, if this involves travelling around the different zones would it be best to just use the Stalker on full Hide with the Movement Power to just get it done quickly or is there some hidden mystery to it all?
Thanks for the help...in advance...

All you have to do is visit each exploration badge site in each zone while in sg mode. It doesn't matter whether or not you already have the badges.

"Q11: Isn't that kind of annoying?
A11: Yes."
Good game design means never having to print that phrase.
Q49: Can I PvP in bases without Items of Power?A49: You can challenge another SG to an "instant raid", or be challenged by another SG, even if neither of you have Items of Power. Instant raiding functions much the same as a normal raid, except it can occur at any time, the defending SG must allow it to happen, and nothing actually changes hands or is permanently destroyed as a result of the raid.
Is this still applicable?
Yes.

I don't know if these have been covered recently but if not here we go:
Currently if your base owes rent you are locked out. I'm the highest ranked in the SG and it locks me out unless I go pay it. Luckily I only forgot once. That being said you don't actually have to visit anyone to pay the rent. It's only past due if you don't have enough. Once you get enough you then have to go see the sg/vg guys and pay in person. Converting inf to prestige can be done by anyone who has over 1 mill inf. Just go to the sg guy and he'll ask if you'd like to convert, should be the first option if you have enough. Crafted base items will be fully deleted; this means no it won't go back to the person who crafted it, no it won't bring back the salvage used but it will refund the prestige used to place it. While working in SG mode from 1 to 10 your inf gain is the same as it always was, from 11 to 24 you take a small hit, and from 25 to 34 you take the biggest drop until 35 where you make no more inf and all prestige in the smallest amounts with 121 being the most I've earned off of one kill (+5 elite boss). I think I covered most of what I saw as changes that were made.

Actually you are only locked out after week 8 of the rent cycle.
After week 6 is when power goes out, and you cannot use items that require power. The storage items and empowerment stations can be used during this period, but not telepads or rez rings.

Not true.

Note on the following:

This is true.
Prestige:
[ QUOTE ]
While working in SG mode from 1 to 10 your inf gain is the same as it always was, from 11 to 24 you take a small hit
[/ QUOTE ]
From levels 1-24 there is no drop in the INF gain. None. From levels 1-24 there is a slight increase to prestige gain, but that is another story.
[ QUOTE ]
and from 25 to 34 you take the biggest drop until 35 where you make no more inf and all prestige

Thanks in advance.

Rent does not get paid automatically.
8x8 plots have no rent.
Rent is paid based on the following cycle:
1. Base or rent cycle started
2. 2 weeks later rent notice appears (you could pay, but don't) (note 1)
3. 2 weeks after rent notice appears rent is due (again you could pay, but don't) (note 1)
4. 2 weeks after rent is due, base is powered down (do not pay until after base is powered down see note 2)
5. 2 weeks after base is powered down, base cannot be entered. (note 1). Rent does not continue to increase if left for long periods during this time.
Note 1: After payment go to beginning of rent cycle (step 1).
Note 2: If paid after rent is due, but before base is shut down, rent cycle acts as if the due date was the start of cycle. So if you paid on day 13 after the rent was due, on day 14 you'd get the new rent notice.
The ideal time to pay the rent is a few minutes after the base powers down, and the beginning plot is immune to rent. If the base is claiming rent is due, but you cannot pay or are on the basic plot, you need to send a /petition to get the GMs to open the base.
To pay your rent you have to visit one of three group registrars:
Villains: In the building at the Port Oakes Marconville marker.
Heroes: In the city hall in Atlas Park, or in the Freedom Corps building in Galaxy City.

I'm not sure what History badges have to do with Bases, unless you're confusing them with Exploration badges, which are the ones you need to visit (in SG mode) to get the Teleport Beacons.
As for the cost of an Energy room, it's not clear how far along you are in your base building, but if you're just starting, the Oversight Center and Combo Unit are a *much* less expensive alternative to separate power & control rooms.

I'm playing CoV and trying to find out where to find a guy to start my own VG. Where's the earliest place I can find one?
Port Oakes, just south of the Marconeville marker, tallest building in the area with arachnos flags all over it and a long reflecting pool in a raised section of the street in front of it.

Just a reminder:
The "base entry permission" by rank will NOT lock out ranks from entering the base.
It just allows those ranks to change the ability of teammates or coalitions to enter the base or not.

non-raid telepad costs;
quantity of 6, power ( refined component ) to make at basic table
then costs 15,000 prestige to place.
it take take upto 2 beacons.
beacons are 10,000 prestige each, and are purchased not crafted.
Beacons open up by getting all explorations badges in a zone while in sg mode.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong. Telepads are crafted with 6 Tech Power salvage, then placed from Personal items of the crafter. Base editor can then move it to where he/she wants it.
EDIT: Archane telepads use different salvage, but same concept.
